The students of East High are preparing for the SATs, and Gabriella has the unfortunate honor of tutoring Sharpay, who shines much more brightly on stage than she does on her practice tests. Luckily, everyone has the school's upcoming Halloween party to take their minds off the SAT crunch. This year's theme is "Future Fantasy" and the students will wear costumes that represent what they would like to be someday. Gabriella and Troy wonder what kind of future the other foresees, but they'll have to wait until the party to find out. Will their visions match up? Or do the two of them have different ideas about where they're headed?

I honestly did not think I was going to like this one. It’s predecessor wasn’t very believable toward the end, and therefore, not very good. This one nearly used a recycled school story line; the one where someone may be moving away. Despite that, the author also gave this a bit of a new spin, so it doesn’t lose a star for that.

There’s a spirit dance coming up; Sadie Hawkins dance, where the girl asks the guy. I don’t have the desire to scream ‘homophobia’. If you’re not straight, consider it a ‘take a friend of the opposite sex’ dance. Anyway, Gabriella wants to ask Troy, but gets this advice from Sharpay to take it slow with the asking as a way to get him eating out of her hand.

Troy on the other hand really wants her to ask him and is surprised when she doesn’t. Chad gets asked by this new Taylor girl that I don’t remember from the movies, and when he doesn’t answer with any kind of affirmative, it starts a little argument between the two of them.

Meanwhile, Sharpay is pulling Ryan along on a string for every special day of the week: pajama day, twin day, hat day (I don’t think there were more than three before the dance).

This was better than book one. 3 stars.

I wasn't a huge fan of Battle of the Bands (High School Musical: Stories from East High, #1) , so it's fair to say my expectations for Wildcat Spirit (why the title on here doesn't follow the same conventions as for the first I do not know) were low. This book was easily worse than the first. Music takes a huge backseat and instead we have our characters all trying to show their school spirit, whilst Gabriella does the typical Gabriella thing and mopes around. It's a frustrating read because these characters seemingly never make smart decisions (despite the films making a rather big deal about Gabriella being a brainiac). Again, I'm not the target audience, but the films are so good and these books so far have been so bad.

This book is a funny and exciting book. It's spirit week at East High, and everyone is psyched.there will be dress-up days,a pep rally, and finally, the crowning of the spirit king and queen. But the best part of all is the sadie hawkins dance:the girls get to ask the boys!Troy is fending off invitations left and right, and wondering why Gabriella haven't asked him yet. He'll have to be patient ,though; Gabriella has alot on her mind. She overheard something her mother said on the phone, and is too devasted to even think about the dance.Could it be they're moving again?Gabriella is so happy at East High.Would her mother really take her away from all her friends?I loved it. READ TO FIND OUT THE ENDING.

It is all about spirit before "the" dance at East High as the wildcats prepare for spirit(including Ryan and Sharpay). Also Sharpay is still lying in this series to get troy to her side and will Gabriella leave East High to New York?I learned that it will not pay to be keeping everything to yourself.

This was better than the previous East High novel. More humor. Still pretty cheesy though.

It's kind of weird that every novel is written by a different author; they try to make their writing sound similar, but it's really not...

P.S. One thing that drives me nuts, is that the word Neanderthal is used by every character a least once in every book. Talk about annoying!
