this book is actually about my diseased uncle, dennis marvicsin. i thought it was an amazing story being how accurate it really is. but I'm not here to promote books because of my family. and don't want to be the person with the completely biased opinion on a book. i truly enjoyed it, but read it yourself, and see what you think. not all minds think alike.

This book is a literary fraud.

See STOLEN VALOR pp 398-399

Part of this book is true, the juicy stuff is fiction.
The author was never a POW for instance.

If you were ever interested in a an incredibly vivid description about life as a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam war, go no further than this book. In almost nightmarish detail, this book will give you a unique perspective on the war, from a narrator who fluctuates between being largely empathetic and uncaringly nihilist.

Lost one star due to cursing alone. Excellent telling of what it was like in Vietnam. If you want to understand a veteran then this is a must read. Good story teller with lots of excitement to keep you reading to the last page.
