Really really sweet love story of Stone and Madison. Stone or Rock Mason is a world famous writer who's never wanted to get married. Madison has dealt with a cheating fiancée and is in no mood to repeat the same mistake. When she can't reach her mother Abby, she decides to go to Corey's mountain to find her and meets Stone in the process. This was a smooth book. No angst, no hiccups. I was honestly bored in the first half but it got better towards the end. Super sweet epilogue and glad we have even more westmorelands around now! Safe read 3.5/5
Stone Westmoreland, also known as crime/thriller writer, Rock Mason, is on his way to Montana to begin writing his next book. On the plane, he meets Madison, a woman who is gripping his thigh as a result of her fear of flying.
I liked the sweet way their relationship developed.
Did I enjoy this? No Will I read more Brenda Jackson? Yes, probably
I’m not sure what it is about her writing. Maybe because it’s romances featuring Black people. Or maybe it’s just that her characters live in places I would like to visit one day? I’m really not sure but there’s just something comforting and truly mindless about Brenda Jackson reads. I found Madison and Stone quite underwhelming, though that first chapter was intriguing. I was thinking there’d be more adventure looking for her mom or more passion between the characters. It just was not there. However I did like the Montana setting and I find the banter between the Westmoreland men most interesting than sometimes the romances. Maybe that’s why I keep coming back. Not sure. But this one was just OK. I would not recommend for a first time Brenda Jackson reader or someone new to the series. She has tons of other more interesting reads.
Brenda Jackson does it AGAIN, with this ENGAGING love-at-first-sight romantic treat for our reading pleasure. I love reading about the Westmoreland clan. I enjoyed reading about Stone and how he UNWILLINGLY falls in love with the prim, proper and SURPRISINGLY passionate Madison. Mrs. Jackson delivers a short, spicy, Happily-Ever-After for NOT one, but two of the Westmoreland men in this tale. I'm looking forward to the next Westmoreland "fall".
I'm still enjoying these Westmoreland stories. (But…why am I starting to get the feeling of same old, same old? Is BJ another author that should not be glommed? (It's not a bad thing, just a fact of life. Some of my abso-fave authors definitely should not be glommed!))
I could not believe this woman got on the plane to find her grown ass mama. However, I do understand that since her mother, Abby Winters was acting out of character, I see her concern. Yet, there is a secret behind this that Madison Winters will find out for herself.
Stone aka Rock Mason is a world-famous action thriller writer. Madison Winters is a music teacher and the daughter of Abby Winters. Stone and Madison meet on the plane headed to Montana. After Madison mother, Abby leaves her a message that she is extending her vacation and staying with a man name Corey. Seeking answers, Madison heads out to Montana to find her mother. Coincidence, that Stone is Corey Westmoreland’s nephew and after meeting Madison and hearing her story on why she was headed to Montana, he is curious himself. Uncle Corey has a “No Woman Rule,” on his mountain, unless it is family.
Stone and Madison develops a relationship while headed up to Corey’s mountain. It seems for a man that never wanted to get married, Stone fell for Madison quite quickly, however, his parent’s prediction of love at first sight for all their children, seem to come true for Stone. When Stone had to leave for a book event and signing, he asked Madison to wait on him until he got back, but after hearing a reporter comment on Stone’s dating life, she got upset and went back home to Boston. It seems Madison jumped to conclusions and I believe it was a bit naïve, especially information coming from a reporter. But Madison hurt from her pass, did not give her the option to think rationally. I think that if Madison had a love life or interest before getting that call from her mother, she would not have been so quick to seek answers. It took her going to Montana to see her mother and meeting Stone, for her to see that stepping outside of the box was a good thing. I give this story a 3.75 out of 5 stars. I could not quite give it a 4.0 because for me something was missing. I just wanted more out of the story. Yes, it was good, but the romance seemed fast, however, I enjoyed it, but not sure if I would re-read, unless I am searching for something, I may have missed from the first reading.
Cast: Donnell Blaylock Jr. as Stone Westmoreland Janelle Monae as Madison Winters
3 stars. My least favorite in the series so far. I liked Stone well enough but he was kinda boring. He just doesn't have the most interesting personality out of all of the brothers. I also didn't like Madison. She was annoying and got on my nerves for more than half of the book which made their romance fall completely flat for me. The steam was there but I just wasn't invested in them as a couple. I liked the ending though and the whole plot of Madison looking for her mother was interesting so far that I'm giving this three stars. I'm interested to get to Storm's book and see how he is because he's Stone's twin. Hopefully he has a bit more spunk to him.
An interesting look at family relationships, second chance love in your 50s and the question, “Do we really ever know our mothers?”This is the one where we are introduced to even more, previously unknown about, Westmorelands and to Montana. I can definitely see how the series has expanded to the size it has.
I lived for them and their love story! He's a writer and I have to say, after reading another book where the character was also a writer, I love that idea of reading a book about another!
His care and understanding of her past is what's lacking today! Maddison has been hurt and isn't willing to feel that again! Without spoiling the story, I'll say I loved it!
This book is another one of my favorites. I won't give away any details. Hot, passionate, loving sex scenes, complex characters, and an enduring setting provide joyous reading for an all-nighter!
Stone Cold Surrender is the fourth installment in the Westmoreland Family Series I loved it but not as much as I loved the second and third book. But I can say that the storyline was somewhat refreshing for me. I don't recall having ever read a book where both the heroine and her mother fell in love with two men related to each other.
Madison Winters is a music teacher in Boston and on a mission to find her mother in Montana to convince her to come home or at least to know her reason. I understand Madison's concerns when she first heard that her mother extended her vacation in Montana because of a man. It just doesn't make sense to her since her mother hasn't done anything like that before. And during her flight, she met Stone Westmoreland.
Stone Westmoreland flew to Montana to research for his next novel and at the same time visit his cousin Durango and his Uncle Corey. And just like his Uncle, he decided a long time ago that marriage wasn't for him. He had no issues with the concept of marriage, and he just wasn't ready to take the plunge himself. But that was until he met the lovely city girl, Madison.
And I think I gave too many details already, so I'll probably stop now. But just let me tell you what I thought about them. Well, I can say that the attraction between them was palpable. The sexual tension and chemistry were totally off the charts! And I liked how Madison and Stone's relationship developed from a total stranger to flight seatmate/companion to unexpected "tour guide" to friends, to lovers, and then eventually to husband and wife. I found myself totally invested not only in Madison and Stone's love story but as well as Abby (Madison's Mom) and Corey (Stone's Uncle)
And if you are looking for a quick, romantic, and downright sexy story, give Stone Cold Surrender a try. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.
