Every girl has her version of “The List,” a handful of goals she wants to achieve (school, travel, career, marriage, children, etc.) by a certain age. But if those dreams don’t come true according to schedule—or they do but don’t meet expectations—what then?Marian Jordan (Wilderness Skills for Women) says there’s a better list to live by, a God-honoring, in-the-moment set of priorities that makes every season of life beautiful however long it may last. The biblical aspirations she prescribes and enthusiastically elaborates on are to Shine, Hope, Pursue Beauty, Seek First, and Dance. If a girl can embrace this list above all else, she may find herself already in the midst of her happily ever after.
Marian Jordan is the founder of Redeemed Girl Ministries (www.redeemedgirl.org), showing girls of all ages how to apply God's truth and promises to their individual circumstances. The author of Sex and the City Uncovered and Wilderness Skills for Women, she lives in and recently completed her master's degree at Southwestern Seminary, based in Houston, Texas."
I do like the overall message of this book: trust God and His plan for us and forget about our own lists and agendas. The author feels genuine and honest to me, but at times spent too much time explaining references instead of getting to the point quicker. As this was written more than 10 years ago some content does feel a bit outdated to me (she makes women out to be a bit shallow at times, mostly mentions the goal of finding a significant other - compared to “the corner office” mentioned on the cover, talks about men being the leader of the relationship, and showing some judgement on cosmetic procedures, etc). I do think the overall theme of the book can be helpful for those in a time of waiting or uncertainty. I feel like the book was on the right track, but just did not completely resonate with me.

I get its purpose of inspiring single women to embrace their season of life, and surrender to God, but I felt like their were some underlying sexist ideals perpetrated, and found parts of the book pandering, repetitive, and kinda demeaning.
Another reminder why putting God as the center of our lives is the best life lived. It is never about us. It is always about Jesus and glorifying God. We are privileged to be part of the story.
Great book, especially for those who are very focused on making plans for their future. I recommend this book for anyone searching for their purpose in life.
