Nota: 10/10 (5 stars)

The original Kevin Meredith book, Hot Shots was a series of short articles with suggestions for changes, tweaks or new ways of approaching your photography for photographers in a rut to try something new.

My signed copy may introduce some bias... :)

I love this book. It gives you some cool ideas on how to take certain photos and I love the examples it shows as well. The size of the book is great as I adore small books so I found it to be a great little book full of cool information and photographs. I actually used this book as an example in my photography class when I used to teach a beginner course in photography.

Excellent little book on general photography if you take the time to read it and not just flip through looking at the pretty pictures.

Each double page is a discussion of a photography idea with one side being devoted to a shot illustrating the main point. The book is organised this way except for a couple of chapters on colour correction with Photoshop etc near the end.

A good starter book for photographers particularly but not exclusively for people interested in creating interesting images from simpler cameras including film and digital compact cameras. Although SLR/dSLR are given coverage as well.

I would have given 5 stars but there was no mention of Adobe Lightroom (or iPhoto or Aperture) in the section on organising you photo library - Lightroom is my favourite solution in this area.

Otherwise a good book.

"Hot Shots: Tips and Tricks for Taking Better Pictures" is a fun book to read. It is written by Kevin Meredith, better known as lomokev on the flickr photo sharing website. He is responsible for one of the most iconic images on flickr and takes most of his pictures with a lomo lc-a camera, a relatively unsophisticated camera compared to most DSLRs on the market. Although I do not immediately share his love for cross-processing and saturated colors I have to admit that the pictures in this book are good to very good. The tips in this book are not revolutionary but they make sense and the book is written in such a way that you do not have to read it in one go, you can read a few tips on the subway, put the book down and pick it up again a few weeks later, very appreciated. A good and fun read!

This book is AH-MAZING. It's not the typical kind of book but it is a great book for those people that are really into photography. This book provides the reader with different effects and techniques to photo taking. It also explains different things about your camera that one might question and I see it as a very helpful tool as I continue on with my photography career. I enjoyed learning about the different types of cameras that were used to achieve each of the special effects that were discussed in this book and I also enjoyed all the images used in this book so that I could see the effects being further executed.

I really liked this book. Not only were the photos beautiful or interesting but I loved the fact he took the time to write down the settings and conditions he was in when he took the photos. Even though most if not all the photos are taken with a film camera, he explains the difference or what needs to be done to take the photo with a digital camera. He compares photos on different pages so you get the sense if one element changes, how different the photo can look.

This is an amazing photography book. It's visually inspiring with just enough technical information to not overwhelm a newbie photographer. I love it.

Has some great tips on balancing your light. Some good examples, but too much of it relates to film cameras. Still, my first camera book.
Thanks to Brian.

Not a qualified photographer, but want to know how to get great shots? This book really helps achieve that. Perfect for student journalists (who don't get photography training). Loved it!
