USA Today and #1 Sunday Times bestselling author Sarah Morgan writes romance and contemporary women's fiction and her trademark humour and warmth have gained her fans across the globe. Sarah lives near London, England, and when she isn't reading or writing she loves being outdoors.
Look out for Sarah's latest novel - All Together for Christmas (UK title)/ A Merry Little Lie (US/Canadian title)
Kitchen sink second chance story, but it's Sarah Morgan and it goes down easy.
Cast of characters Heroine: triplet, doctor, was 18 and a gorgeous blonde model when the Spanish hero met her. Her father is a banker, controlling and abusive. Her mother is a doormat who only wants a society marriage for the heroine. Heroine is engaged to a dry stick, approved by her parents.
Hero: is the Spanish Consultant of the title. His mother worked for the h's parents as a housekeeper. He was a rising star in the father's bank when he met the heroine.
Backstory: Shy, virgin heroine and hero begin sexual affair. Hero leaves without telling the heroine. Heroine is heartbroken and hasn't been with a man since. Hero was shown incriminating photos of the heroine by her father and he thinks she cheated on him. He's still angry and still has the photos at work(!) to show the heroine when they have their confrontation.
H/h meet when the heroine is brought into the emergency room after a car accident. She has no idea why he's so angry. They meet again two weeks later when the heroine is assigned to his emergency department.
Hero is mean to the heroine and makes her prove herself as an emergency room doctor. They eventually confront the past and find out how the father manipulated them both.
The heroine eventually breaks off her engagement and the H/h get together. There is a last minute black moment and then her father has a heart attack and a personality transplant for an HEA.
This fun and fine (especially when the H/h had to work together while angry) but the ending was marred with the father's abrupt change of heart. Talk about fantasy. The guy was pure evil Same with her mother growing a spine. I wanted the heroine to grow out of her need for parental approval - but SM indulged her.
Up next in the series. Heroine's sister - also blonde and gorgeous, but with a rebellious attitude. She's a nurse. Last in the series: triplet brother who is a doctor with commitment issues, but has he dark hair and blue eyes.
Heroine did not have sex with anyone since her break up with the hero. Hero had "girlfriends" but no one serious.
Some gruesome accidents, but no deaths. This had more HP elements than medical details (thank goodness!)
I read it in just one sitting, and I liked it. I was so invested in Jago and Katy's story. Well, I'm always a sucker for a second chance romance with all dramas, confrontations, and swoon-worthy reconciliation. And this book had all of those in spades.
Katy was such a nice, genuine heroine. She was feisty, vulnerable, smart, and relatable, but on the other hand, she was no pushover either. She didn’t allow Jago to walk all over here even though it was clear as a day that she was still in love with him. And Jago was such a wonderful hero. Yes, he's a bit an ass at first, but it was totally understandable given the circumstances. But once he learned the truth... Well, all I can say is that Katy's a fortunate girl!
The chemistry between them was off the charts! But despite that, Jago and Katy have a lot to work through. Earning trust when you’ve been burned before is not an easy thing to do. I loved watching them worked through their issues. And when he decides to fight for her heart finally, the length to which he goes is just sigh-worthy! I loved how they slowly worked their way to a place where they were willing to take a second chance at what was between them.
I also enjoyed reading about Katy's siblings Libby and Alex (they're triplets btw). I can't wait to read their story, especially the blue-eyed Alex. I also loved that it was written in dual POV. It always wins my heart over. I love knowing what the guy is thinking in a time of drama.
All in all, The Spanish Consultant was such a heartwarming second chance love story with just the right amount of angst, plus I loved both main characters. It was lovely to see Katy and Jago get their much-deserved Happy Ever After.
The Westerlings series by the talented SM is about the triplets Katy, Libby and Alex Westerling. The Spanish Consultant, Book 1, is the story of Katy and Jago. With a father like Charles Westerling who'd need enemies. 11 years ago Katy and Jago were in love till Katy's father engineered their break up. Jago thinks she betrayed him and Katy thinks he left her without a goodbye. Now they meet again as they are both doctors at the same A&E department. The tension is unbearable and their attraction is still as scolding as ever. Jago appears too arrogant, always making assumptions until Katy proves she is a good doctor and until the truth is revealed bit by bit.
For a start off, I should say I purchased this book, indeed the trilogy, in error - this is not my usual fare.
I have read some of Sarah Morgan's other books and enjoyed them enough. But God, what a horrible book this is. The 'hero' is a borderline psychotic bully on a power trip and our 'heroine' is downtrodden and belittled by every character in this book, talked about as if she is incapable of making any decision about anything, despite being a highly competent doctor. She is given no agency in the story and exists purely as a pawn in male power play.
Whether I read the other books in this trilogy rather depends on how masochistic I'm feeling but I have to say that if this is romance, then I would rather be a spinster or a nun than have this as my dream relationship!
Hahaha. Aku baca karya Sarah Morgan karena teman di Twitter lagi bahas Sarah Morgan, teringatlah bahwa aku pernah baca novelnya tetapi agak lupa sama tipe-tipe karakter tokoh-tokohnya. Seingetku cukup bagus karena kurating 3/5. Dan setelah baca The Spanish Consultant, aku juga memberikan rating 3,5/5.
Aku suka tema kedokteran yang diangkat. Wah, detail banget. Hahaha.
Hahaha.
I don't read a lot of category romance, particularly not medical ones - in fact I wouldn't have read this if I hadn't picked it up without realising repackaged in an omnibus with the other two stories in the series - but this is a a fun, if fast read. Sarah Morgan is an ex nurse (and if I recall correctly an ex A&E nurse) so the medical details are good and (I expect) accurate and the romance is cute. I love the way she's managed to wangle a millionaire consultant for her hero!
Hero too alpha for my liking. “You’re not marrying him!” Not your decision, pal.
“I’m taking you to dinner, I’ll pick you up at 8:30” (after she’s said no) How about asking? Yuck. Characters who bulldoze over other’s wishes are a big pet peeve of mine.
Encontro de Almas - Sara Morgan Título original: The Spanish Consultant Título: Encontro de Almas Autor: Sara Morgan Tradução: Vera Vasconcelos Editora: Harlequin Ano: 2014 Comprar: É possível compra nos sites: www.harlequinbooks.com.br e www.amazon.com.br ou em uma boa banca de jornais.
Resenha:

LOL!! =DD Baru bab 1 aku udah ngakak. Kembar 3 yg unik, apalagi si Libby, lucu bagaimana dia mau mancing kemarahan ayahnya pake gaun yg keliatan celana dalamnya. Alex juga ngedukung rencana adiknya. Ckckck.. Sodara kembar yg gilaa.. Hahahaa =D
I loved it! Ceritanya, Katy, Libby, Alex, sampe pasien2nya aku suka.. Apalagi Jago.. Pintar, kejam, lembut, cuek, perhatian dan setia.. Emang sih dia ninggalin Katy apalagi pas Katy lagi hamil, tapi Jago tetep mencintai Katy selama 11 thn. Setelah tau ternyata dalangnya adalah ayah Katy, Jago berusaha utk mendapat hati Katy kembali.
Eleven years after their passionate affair Jago see's Katy in his hospital. He is shocked to see that she is now his A&E doctor. When he last seen her she was a fashion model. Lies had been told to him in the past but will they ever see the light? Will he be able to move on, will he ever tell her of the love he had/has for her? Who tore them apart? And why? Will this second chance be enough to hold them together. I enjoyed the story of betrayal of family members who tore them apart. Will be reading more by Sarah Morgan in the future.
In omnibus Summer with love Read in omnibus edition but wanted to review each story and rate separately I enjoyed it but felt shorter than normal Sarah Morgan read and have to confess was put off by the name Jago I just couldn't picture the Mediterranean slick doctor I was supposed to when he shares the name of the parrot from Disney's Aladdin :(
Another 10thou rupiah book I bought. Ceritanya bagus sih, tapi kok ya hero-nya menyebalkan sekali. Arogan, egois, well in other word : jerk. The heroine was too too too forgivable.
It's an absolute pleasure to read competent medical personnel doing their jobs—even though I don't what they're doing… Oh, and I liked the romance, too.
