A great collection of short stories loosely based on people the author has met or has known in the small border town of Tecate Mexico.
The only criticism is that some of the stories end far too abruptly.
There are at least two other books in the series that I will have to track down.

Daniel Reveles is the son of Mexican immigrants who grew up in California and worked in Hollywood as a writer and producer. When he came upon the small town 0f Tecate in Baja, just south of the border, he decided to retire there. Life in Tecate revolved around the town plaza. Reveles began to write stories of all the characters that made up the town. Each vignette is about one character, although many intertwine. The stories are real life, penned with a beautiful style that brings each one to life, with incredible humor when you least expect it, and always with a twist at the end of each vignette. These are lighthearted stories, some with pathos, but always also with humor. Anyone who has been involved around Latinos, will especially enjoy the Spanish slang included.
Reveles also wrote four more about life in Tecate. Loved them all, but this was my favorite.

This is the sequal to Enchiladas, Rice and Beans which is also a collection of short stories from Tecate, Mexico. I really enjoyed the first book -- Reveles is an excellent storyteller who really captures the pride and beauty of Mexico and its people. I therefore had high hopes for this book and was not at all disappointed. This book is, indeed, full of love, faith and magic. It made me smile, laugh, and write down little quotes here and there. I'm going down to a Mexican border town in spring of next year and can't wait to look at it in the new light of having read Reveles' work. Definitely recommended

Tequila, Lemon and Salt is the second of four story collections by Daniel Reveles and it is absolutely delightful. Reveles is an American of Mexican-born parents. As an adult he moved to the border town of Tecate where his stories are set. His stories are written in English for an English-speaking audience but they ring so true of the Mexican culture that I have come to know. I am now in pursuit of the other three collections, a couple of which may no longer be in print which would be a real shame.
