Devin Maxwell, a super empath, is on the run from the world's most powerful super and his army.
After being almost assassinated by a beautiful (and distinctly evil) blonde super named Primadonna, Devin's realizes his powers are so much more than he thought.
Whatever the case, Devin Maxwell is the Mindbreaker. And he'll build his own faction of supers and save the world, breaking one super at a time.
The novel is very immature and boring and the writing seems like it was written by a teenager. You're going to be rolling your eyes when you try and read this novel I had to skip several pages because the explanation just kept rolling and rolling and rolling without any end. The main character is a simpering wimp who actually finds out that he can control minds or break them of superpowers and he actually gets...... Gets one and she's throwing herself all over Him but he is so immature he doesn't know what to do with it...... When you write a main character they are supposed to be strong they are supposed to be powerful and they're supposed to know their own mind and libdo. This whimpering kid feels like someone who just got into his father's playboy colectionary. Trust me on this don't waste your time.
I began reading this book as preview on Mr. King’s Patron page. I was waiting for it to be released and put a hold on other books that I was reading. I certainly didn’t make a mistake. I throughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.
Empathic MC fighting against big brother in a "the boys" senario. Read it in one sitting but some technical flaws started to annoy me.
First, when the MC escaped from Prim, he never tossed his cellphone, which we all know can track our location and later in the story we find that Miss Kennedy had a tracking app on his phone. Second, he goes to ground at a place that any investigator with half a brain could find out about. Of course, Clayface had been dispatched there to terminate him and eliminate any witnesses. Ok, rookie mistake, he's an inexperienced college kid, though he did have a bug-out strategy prepared. Later they flee in Miss Kennedy's SUV to a hidden redoubt through private roads that track access yet the whole city is searching for them but can't find them. Really? Kennedy, and Prim should know better. Then they drive that same SUV to hit the armory, but their plans are half baked. They waste time talking and fighting with the guards before getting into the actual armory. Then we find that they didnt even bring a bag to carry away the ordinance. Inside the armory, they talk about their plans to overthrow big brother not even considering any surveillance there. They only end up with the anti-hero one shots and the bracer, but dont remove the enemy assets by destroying weapons they couldnt take. In the investing world, there is a saying that "hope is not a strategy". Sadly, hope is exactly the strategy that the MC and his revolutionaries appear to be relying on.
I skipped through the sex scenes in the book, which went on for pages and pages. It flowed with the story, but well hung MC's, with stamina for hours, providing multiple orgasms for their women gets tedious in book after book after book. Don't get me wrong, if characters have no interest in relationships, that's just weird, but sex scenes need something to make them more than the same old, same old.
I am unlikely to bother with any more books in this series.
2.5 stars. I'm not sure why I ended up with this book, as this one of those authors whose work I generally avoid. With good reason as it turns out. A puerile power fantasy, it was precisely what I suspected it would be, and the only reason it gets a 3rd star is because I should have known better.
Anyway, this review is here in case I forget in the future. The downside to reading over 100 (usually WELL over) books a year is that very few stick in my head and I can easily find myself circling back to something I tried to read before and gave up on. I suspect that happened with this book in fact.
Another book with Dante's 'favorite' grin. I hate that specific phrase because nobody has actually done that and it is gross. But at least it wasn't in there as much as some of his other books. Overall not a bad book, the main character is a playboy with a OP powerset, the harem has been defined but not locked in right away on the first book, but there is a visible path. As per the series, I only started it once I saw there was a second book; otherwise I wouldn't have bothered as I dislike unfinished/orphan series/books.
Finally a truly good superhero novel not some tacky rpg, smut, or indie money stealer. I thank you Dante King when an authour dosen’t stop till his work is an original story built on solid world-building.
Do for thouse who came because of the art cover that’s all the book is more steamy writing if you want the art work to see what the chacthers look like you’ll sadly have to join the authors Patreon page.
Well that is what some of them call themselves. This is a very good twist on the superhero genre. What if you can get superpowers but there is a odd price. Devin has powers, illegal powers, but at what price. Fun read, many twists and turns. Good action in and out of the bedroom. Highly recommend this one and wait enthusiastically for the next one.
Wow, A powerful enthralling story!!!! It was truly a challenge to not read this story through with no breaks!!! It really is that good!!! An engaging and enjoyable MC, unique abilities that are growing and dynamic changing characters!!! What more could a reader want!!!
Just FYI professor X is a mind reader, telekinesis as well as empath. Don't see a Jean Gray, but do like the powers so far. Wildflower actually seems the most underrated power. What is Autarch's powers? Who is in charge since the world is a big place.
In college, I would have loved this book. Now, it is the nature of supers and the remade world that i find interesting, although the raunchy chapters are more edgy than I prefer. This story highlights mental powers and starts to show how scary they can be. There is just enough story that I will probably read book 2.
This was a good start to the series. Liked the powers and how they came about. Liked the Mc and it is good seeing his abilities grow. Really looking forward to more of this series.
This is real good for a first in the series book. It has a little bit of everything, people with powers, sex, teamwork and in the end, trust. Hope the second book is out soon.
Unlike most of the author's other series, this one is more thought out and executed like a well oiled machine. The story flows smoothly and the characters are relatable
This book came out a while ago from the looks of it, and it is very good, a fresh take on a superhero book, and I enjoyed it greatly. I don't know why Dante let it sit, but hopefully he comes back to it soon.
I liked this book but i had some issues also. The middle section of this book felt more dragged out and at 70% mark, there isn't anything happening yet. Eventhough i liked this book, i am sad to give this rating because of these issues.
I tremendously enjoyed the story. It contained wonderful characters and relationships. The abilities and world were compelling as well. It was a great time all around.
The premise and prose were surprisingly good, but I've found that the scenes on which this books' genre is predicated were a bit jarring and a little disturbing.
What an awesome book, that unfortunately will never see a sequel. Mindbreaker, let's say, broke some records for me. First: It was so good that I finished it in only 4 days of reading, which is an incredible feat, considering the size of the book and the fact that english is not my first language. Second: It is so far the only book that I really enjoyed the sex scenes. That second record was even more incredible, because while I am no prude, I fell that a scene that would be hot on a video don't do the same effect when it is on a text. So I have always found sex scenes boring on books, until Mindbreaker. Perhaps the secret is to make just the necessary scene, making a built up first, not just throw the characters and try to blend them in a scene. But as good as the novel has been, it will probably never have a continuation like Danton King was planing. The reason: Amazon's witch hunting agains book that they consider non-con, plus some fragile readers getting horrified with mind-control themes. Well, it is funny how the book touch dark themes like the casual murder of innocents, the subjugation of the american governement, everybody living in such a crapsack world that they have to live everyday like that might be really the last day of their live, but the thing that enerve everybody was the power of the MC. It is such a case of the #metoo going awry, that aparently Amazon and some readers would prefer that the MC didn't had such powers and thus would have been killed in the beginning and let the serial killer supers running amock, than using his powers... Not to mention that some people has difficults to remember that those things in the book ARE NOT HAPPENING IN THE REAL WORLD, so no one was actually harmed, killed, mind-controlled... Thus, I sorrow again that we will never see if Wildflower and Crimson Queen will ever be joining Mindbreaker's harem, because we are going back to the age of vanilla!
