I read these out of order because I didn’t know it was a series at first but even despite that this is an amazing trilogy that I would definitely recommend! Technically they don’t have to be read in order because their about different characters, but they are all in the same world/universe so I would recommend reading them in order because the world building and intricacies make more sense that way.
These books are extraordinarily unique. I have never read anything like them which is very hard to find in the fantasy genre. The world building is done well, and mixed in with the story so that it doesn’t feel out of place or choppy. You learn as the characters learn and it’s super interesting that way. It’s something that also helps connect you to the characters because your learning with them. I love the different fantastical elements in this book series and specifically in this one I loved seeing Arnica for the first time since I read them out of order and already knew who she was.
Other things I loved:
-Cassie was strong and stubborn which is always fun in an fmc. I also loved her backstory and her going all vigilante to avenge her brothers death. I loved her undercover antics and her development over the course of the story. I loved that she was a fighter and with a longer story or a series focused on her I feel like should could have been a mini Aelin(from ToG).
-the real star however was Dex. I couldn’t tell if he was the grumpy one or the sunshine one which I’d never experienced before. Usually is grumpyXsunshine but instead this book did a spin on that trope and Dex felt like both. He was such a sweetheart and cared so much about Cassie from the start. I loved his selflessness and his protectiveness. I also loved his grump moments and when he got cocky or bossy. He was like middle ground best of both worlds and I am here for it.
-their relationship was ADORABLE I loved how he took the pain from her, how she helped him see there wasn’t anything wrong with him, how he helped her come to the fact that she wasn’t to blame for the death of her family. I loved how the soulmate thing was done actually as well. That’s a super tough on to do because in can feel too insta-lovey but she wrote it well. It makes sense that there feelings and attraction would develop quickly after what they’ve been through and how their soulmates.I loved that both of them were protective of eachother.
-I loved the cabin. I know that sounds weird but it was super cool and almost felt like a character. You have to read to understand that one. 😅
-the mystery, who done it, aspect was cool and interesting as a subplot as well. I wish it was focused on/drawn out a little more but it was still a very interesting part of the book for sure.
Things that could use improvement:
-It was a very short book but I feel like it needed more pages. It needed a little bit more length to be complete. We would have been able to really get into a detailed mystery then and also been more connected with the characters, get more development and moments with them.
-The resolution was a little rushed and the ending was super abrupt. I wanted more of a conclusion to the climax and then some time with Dex and Cassie happy and together but I didn’t get that. I wish that I did, especially because this is there only book. It’s not like the next book in the series is about them and because of that I think we should have gotten a better ending.
-I kinda wish that since they are in the same world the other characters would be in it more but that’s a desire from an invested reader and not a criticism of the book so that didn’t affect my rating.
Overall this was really good, and again I found myself liking it way more than I expected. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone looking for a new fantasy series that’s unique. The second one is my favorite but they are all so good and I really think they are better as a whole and read in order!

This page-turning adventure grabbed me from the first paragraph and wouldn’t let me go. It has enough magic to entice PNR and urban fantasy fans, plenty of mystery that kept me guessing, and a love story that’s both satisfying and full of twists. There were points where I laughed so loud my family asked what was going on, and others where I was sure the characters were going to break my heart, but—true to romance tradition—the ending was lovely and left me grinning.
If you like badass female main characters, tough, sexy men with a hard exterior and kind hearts, a plot full of surprises, and a magical house (I seriously want this house, just wow!), then grab yourself a copy of this book, sit down, and enjoy the read. This story unfolds as a standalone with a satisfying ending and complete story arc that sets up for a sequel. No cliff-hangers at the end, only the introduction of a new and fascinating character that I’m looking forward to getting to know when the next book comes out.
These characters will stay with me, as will the complex world the author has created. It’s a fresh take on well-loved tropes (enemies-to-lovers, soulmates by choice), and I can’t wait to read more books set in this world.

What a delightful book this is. Romance and fantasy are wonderfully combined to create an alluring plot. It's thrilling to watch and follow the characters in every new situation they venture. They are so easy to fall in love with.
The protagonist has a very well explored thought process. There's so much confidence with the reader. The protagonist doesn't keep anything to herself and that makes the reading experience very comfortable.
The romance is brimming with respect, which doesn't diminish how powerful it is. The lust of the characters is passionate and just fantastic.
The first moment of magic is so intense. The protagonist's emotions are all over the place and that is frustrating and confusing but oh so exciting.
The interlaced comedy is really great. I would sometimes cackle or snort very loud.
The protagonist is admirably determined, strong-willed, so it is strange that she didn't want to agree to her boss's proposal in the beginning and risk her plan. But I'm glad that she did what she wanted in her own terms.
A few descriptions require a bit more detail, mainly in regards of the characters' place in a room or space. Also, I would've liked it if the protagonist had a harder time accepting magic, but it's good as it is.
This is such a strong novel and I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series. In the meantime, I'll be rereading this book.
PS: I wish I had a magic cabin. The one in the story is absolutely gorgeous.

OMG, this woman is extremely horny! Not a page passes without her making some thirsty remark about Dex. The guy had only to reveal some skin for her to literally forget anything but how horny she was for him. At one point it was just a sliver of his abdomen because his shirt had ridden up and she stopped everything to drool. Hell, sometimes putting on some article of clothing was enough for her to thirst after him, and some scenes were there, and some things done a certain way, only for him to remove clothing. All while thinking he might have killed her brother, whose death she’s oh, so guilty about. At some point she's absolutely sure he was involved. That went out the window whenever she was around Dex. And you’d think the spice would be good, with so much horniness, but not really. It was very vague and had me frowning, trying to understand what was going on. Their relationship was entirely based on lust, so when the “I-Love-U”came, it didn’t feel real. This is one of those couples you know aren’t going to stay together very long. They didn’t know how to communicate properly, to begin with.
The pacing is off, with long stretches when nothing happens, sudden time jumps, and random flashbacks. At least those were in italics, because they start suddenly without signposting, and are written in third person present, like the rest of the book. .
The worldbuilding is minimal, and elements would be mentioned and then not explained until much later, because either Cassie didn’t ask the right questions (mostly, this was the case), or Dex wouldn’t answer them in the rare occasions she did. And when the explanations came, they were very unsatisfying and confusing, and again Cassie doesn’t ask any questions. And I'm supposed to believe she’s a lawyer? The author can’t be bothered to explain what “the Guardianship” is, or why Dex is the “Master Manipulator” until more than halfway through even though both of those are mentioned very early on, but takes the time to mention she’s a black belt in I don’t know what discipline (it just says “martial arts” as if all of the different disciplines are the same thing) and a crack shot. Except we never see any of those things. Oh, but how it’s Cassie’s fault that her brother is dead because she didn’t go to a bar with him in order to study is mentioned, again and again and again. I think that was her only character flaw. That she felt guilty for her brother and mother’s deaths.
And in the end, she just forgets her guilt, like it never existed. It wasn’t even because Dex talked to her about it, it was just a switch flipping and now she’s not guilty anymore. Not that she showed she was, just a couple panic attacks here and there (that didn’t even seem to be related to her brother but some other trauma that doesn’t get explained), which Dex is able to get her out of, of course, and constant mentions of how she feels guilt, but not much of her actions reflected that, not really.

I was sent an ALC of this book. I had never read it, so this was not only a brand-new book but also a brand-new author to me, which is exciting. The pace of the book itself, I would say, is fairly fast, but the romance is slow burn. The audiobook is 7 hours and 50 minutes long, with duet narration, which is my favourite! This is narrated by Dahila Summers, Sean Chaussee, Andi Eloise, Sean Masters, Alex Raby and Bailey Turpin. I really enjoyed the narration and would listen to these narrators again.

This book, I would say, is character-driven in its plot, as it follows Cassie and Dex while they try and find Brian's killer, along with navigating their love for one another. I enjoyed both characters. Cassie did get a little annoying in that she kept repeating herself in how she felt responsible for the deaths of her mother and brother; however, when you are grieving, you kind of do repeat this to yourself, so I dunno it was kind of annoying but also kind of real. I liked Dex, he was broody, gruff and sexy. He was also kind of soft with Cassie, a bit of a cinnamon roll just for her. I was rooting for the two of them to be together from the beginning and was giddy when Cassie finally admitted to herself that she loved him.
This book is set at a club, which Dex owns. The club is full of many magical things that humans cannot see and that could cause Cassie harm if she weren't under Dex's protection. This had me wondering why these entities don't harm the customers of the club. The setting is nothing magical per se, but it is perfect for the story.
I was immersed in this book. I often find that I get not bored but restless when I listen to audiobooks. I am a big music listener, so when I am drawing or cleaning, I am usually listening to music (fun fact, I am listening to music now), so to be drawing and listening to an audiobook, I can find myself getting restless...I don't know why. However, with this one, I didn't get restless; in fact, time was flying by while I listened. The narrators really brought this to life in my mind. I may not be happy with my drawing (imposter syndrome sucks), but I was very happy with my listening, lol.
Overall, I enjoyed this audiobook. It is easy to read, flows well, and has a good amount of spice.
Was it the most amazing thing ever written? No.
Did I enjoy listening to it? Yes.
Would I recommend it? Yeah, it won't change your life, and it's not complex, but if you read for the good vibes and fun escape and love a bit of magic, romance, and revenge, then go for it! The audiobook brings it to life, so I would recommend listening to it.

It's an interesting start to an urban fantasy series. The blurb is what drew me to the book. I liked the idea of someone going undercover to investigate crime and search for justice. Though, there were some hurdles to go through to finish the story.
Some of the pacing seemed off to me; time either flew by or went slow with every detail being described. I liked the plot and the magical world the author created, but sometimes the details seemed misplaced when mentioned in the story, like why is this description placed here because ended up interrupting the flow and action of the story right now.
I liked the details that went into the magical world and look forward to its expansion in the next books in the series!
I liked Cassie! She was a good lead. She had her own flaws and owned them (and on occasion tried to bury them to deal with them later like a mature adult). Sometimes, I did wonder what she was doing, but it honestly worked with her characterization (push away people who you like, so you don't disappoint them). Dex is a good foil for her, being less impulsive and more logical to Cassie's "let me find my own justice" vibe. He's honestly a cinnamon roll who takes care of Cassie even when she won't admit she needs help.
The story can be read as a standalone. It has references drug use (overdose), death of family members, contains violence (not particularly explicit, but enough that you know what happens), there's some steam (not explicit, also not drawn out), and some insta-love vibes (at least I think it is insta-love because I honestly have no idea how much time passes, but it feels like the love is pretty quick).

i loved the characters, the world building, and that magical cabin !!!! Please i need that in my life 🥹😅 and also dex .. with his rough exterior and the kindest heart ♥️
Cassie or kali is just a badass .. she is strong, fierce and isn’t afraid of standing up for herself ❤️ and i just adore that in my FMC 🔥

A fantastic world of darkness and magic that makes for the perfect Pallette cleanser as a read.

This book was just pure fun to read. Easy to follow premise woven through a spicy and mysterious storyline that easily kept my attention. We follow Cassie as she infiltrates an exclusive club to investigate who killed her brother. She didn't anticipate her boss being a super sexy magical being that would make her second guess everything about her mission. Dexter was hot hot hot and the perfect blend of dark and smoldering while still embracing the "touch her and die" aspect. The side characters were very unique and fun and lent a lot of dimension to the story as well. I would love go eventually learn more about the nurse.
Overall just a fun read that definitely made me want to continue the series.

Overall just a fun read that definitely made me want to continue the series.

Magic, sex, love, what more could a girl ask for!!?!
Becoming Justice is the Authors debut, and I’m impressed. I love the storyline and how badass Cassie is. The bond that builds between her and Dexter is exactly what I was looking for! The spicy moments between them are super HOT!! I soooo want his magical house! The pain and suffering from Cassies past really makes it hard for her to just give into the feelings she has for Dex. He's also on her suspect list for the murder of her brother, sooo. I can't blame her. Dexter fights every single step of the way to prove his worth, and innocents to her. There is a bit of a cliffhanger, but I'm not disappointed. I'm excited to see what's to come in book 2.

This book isn't normally what I would go for but I read it because I wanted to support this author!
There were some grammatical errors and not enough world-building for me. There were also some moments in the book where the story would just jump from scene to scene without much introduction. I honestly wish I was able to connect more to the characters. Maybe if there was a little more backstory, I would have! Nevertheless, I think the plot in this book is good and I feel like it has a ton of potential to become an amazing well loved story.
For this being the first book in the series, I think the author did a great job giving us a story! I would definitely give the 2nd book a try to find out who the heck "Arnica" is 🤣

Justice or Revenge?
This book captivated me right away! Way to go Liv!! I fell in love with Cass and Dex immediately. Their banter, the way he just always knows what she needs, the cottage perfection!! I love that there was some sex in the book, but it didn't go into detail about what was going on! I love the entire universe that this takes place in! And who the heck just barged into the bar like that?!?

This book was really good! I don’t know why it doesn’t have more ratings/reviews. I really like the authors writing style and the story and characters are unique. I usually prefer dark romance but this is a nice pallet cleanser. The book was different than I expected it to be, in a good way.

Magic, adventure, romance! Cassie is a strong female lead and Dexter is sexy! Love the dynamic between these two characters. There were so many unexpected aspects to this book. Met the author at Romance Con and could not walk away from a book with a badass female. Really enjoyed this fantasy read.

One of the best books I’ve read this year. I loved getting lost in this world and feeling everything Cassie felt throughout. I am so invested in this new universe and I can’t wait to read the new stories of this world that Liv Macy is creating.

I loved the style of writing. This story kept me wanting more. I’ve never read anything paranormal but I really enjoyed this! It was the perfect amount of reality, magic and intimacy. I can’t wait to see what comes next!

This book is fantastic. I could not put it down. I wanted to keep reading to know was happening next. It has just the right amount of spice to keep you wanting more from the characters time together. I can’t wait for next books to come out and continue reading this amazing series.

The plot needs work. A lot of things could have used extra explanation. And really the sex scenes were more like reading a recipe, but I did finish it so 🤷♀️
