I adored this book in my grade school years, back when I dreamed of becoming an author myself. (It wasn't until I reached adulthood that I realized I didn't have the discipline to be a writer.)
I recently decided to give this book a reread from a grown-up perspective. Though the paperback itself is slim, visually, I was still surprised to find it was more of a brisk read than I remembered. I could have easily finished the book in one sitting, if I had had an uninterrupted block of time to do so.
The book does contain good, though simplistic, advice for aspiring writers. There are times when simple is actually best, however. I'm sure we've all had times when we were so caught up in the fine details of a task that we forgot to consider the basic principles involved and needed to be reminded.
Though due to the writing style and presentation of this book, I think it is best suited for readers in the target age group.
Did I like it? It wasn't bad.
Would I reread it? Not sure.
Would I recommend it? Only to readers in the intended age range.
