A gorilla takes care of a little boy who falls into her cage at the zoo; a cat saves an infant's life; a dolphin rescues a drowning woman. These and more exciting true stories offer the best in real-life drama for animal lover!
When I was growing up I never thought of being an author. I was a terrible speller and didn't want to write any more than I had to. I wanted to be a tap dancer when I grew up. After a few years of teaching junior high and high school, I wrote my first novel. It was a surprise to discover that I liked making up stories and writing them down. I liked it so much that eventually I stopped teaching and became a fulltime writer.
Besides novels for children and young adults, I've also told stories by writing scripts for television and the movies.
I live on the top floor of a sixteen-story building near the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. From my apartment I have a view of Manhattan that includes the Empire State Building and the Plaza Hotel. In my free time I draw, paint, and read. I still love to dance.
Some people think that a writer's life is lonely. But when I'm writing a story I don't feel lonely because I am actively involved with lots of interesting people – the characters in my books. I love knowing that some day readers will get to know these characters, too. If you are one of my readers I hope you have as much enjoyment in reading my stories as I have writing them.
I loved this book as a kid: it's just ten more reasons to absolutely love animals! All of the stories were very moving and some were extremely striking and memorable (like the one in the cover, where a dog rescues their neighbor from a blizzard, and another one I remember was a cat saving a suffocating newborn baby). It's a teeny, super-quick read that I think anyone can appreciate.
I absolutely love this book. It's so sad yet your like oh my gosh what's going to happen next. In this book there's 10 chapters of awesomeness. These animals save kids and even adults and when I say animals I mean dogs, cats, dolphins, hamsters, gorillas, horses and even cows. If you like animal book you will love this book. This book has 10 chapters of different stores. So my favorite chapter is crushed. There's a boy named Donald who lives on a farm.He has a cow named daisy that does most of the work for him. But there was one job daisy couldn't do for him. There was a sick calf on his property. He had to find the calf and give it some medicine. So he took his dirtbike down to find it but he went in the bull fence. The bull wasn't used to the noise so he started running at him and is dirt bike. Then it hit him he didn't know what what happened he blacked out. Daisy the leader of the cows herd and ran to him. Daisy and the other cows fought the bull. He could not talk he could not get up but he tried to crawl and kept falling but. Finely he got home and his family rushed him to the hospital. After several months hi recovered.

I absolutely loved this book; it was amazing how animals can save someone in times of need.
This book is about how animals save their owners in times of crisis. My mind cannot comprehend how animals are capable of doing that. It explores life-and-death situations, where all you have is a dog, a cat, or any animal by your side.
I really, really love this book, and I hope you do too. I liked it because it keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering what the animal will do next. I also love it because it shows that animals have hearts, just like humans.
This book for children and youth is full of amazing, miraculous, true stories of how animals save adults and children in grave danger. Animals seem to have a sixth sense about what is happening around them, and we can thank our lucky stars that we share our earth with them. This is edifying reading for anyone.
Today I finished a book called 'Ten True Animal Rescues" By Jeanne Betancourt. This book is about ten stories that are each about an animal saving a human's life. One story is about a hamster saving a girl's life. There was afire near the girls bed and the hamster kept making noise to attract the girl and make her see the fire. After the girl saw the fire and alerted her parents, they tried to get thehamster but it was in the fire already, and they suppose it died. But a long time later, they went back and they saw a ratlike creature and they suppose it was the heroic hamster.
Before I read the book I made a prediction by looking at the cover. The cover was a girl hugging a dog in snow. I thought it was about a girl in a snowstorm and the dog is pulling her (rescuing her) out of the snow storm.
When I was reading the book, I had a question, "Will the baby die on the way to the hospital?"
After I finished the book I thought, "Wow! Animals aren't just cute, they can save lives!"
I felt that it was good to have animal rescuers on Earth! Maybe there will be a job for animals, being resucers!I think the author wrote this story to tell people that we should save the earth and protect animals because animals can save people.I think the them of the book is protect animals because animals save lives.
This book is about animals saving the lives of their owners. You won't believe the things that these remarkable animals accomplish. I would recommend this book to people who love amazing animal deeds. I am still in shock about these miraculous deeds.
