A collection of essays that originally appeared in popular magazines at the time, this book is broken down into each month of the year and short stories accompany them with thoughts, musings and plant matter that corresponds to that time of year. Being from the New England area, much of her gardening is for zones well out of my range, yet Ms. Cruso's wit and humor are evident throughout the book. Also, her compassion for the Earth and how gardening practices effected it are still relevant today as they were then.

A very helpful book, with so many hints and information, combined with her wit and excitement about nature, make this a great read for anyone who enjoys gardening.
