National bestselling author Eric Pete does it again with a reimagining of his first classic! Every woman dreams of getting married to the man she loves. So why is the independent, vivacious Glover having second thoughts about her engagement to her rich, sexy boyfriend Lionel? Meanwhile, Louisiana country boy Max decides moving to L.A. will better not only his career chances, but his love life. It's just his luck that the beautiful woman who can help him professionally--and personally--is about to be married to another man. A chance meeting at an employment office gives new meaning to the phrase Reality Check as Glover and Max try to sort through the drama that is bound to happen if they get together.
Attention grabbing story but an unrealistic end. The author does a great job of enticing and bringing the reader into the story however the ending of the story itself is so unrealistic it takes away from the writing skills of the author.
The story begins with an attractive young woman named Glover getting engaged to a handsome financialy security man named Lionel. A broke down practically unemployed male named Maxwell happens to enter her place of work and Glover is so taken by this good looking man that she risks everything to find out more about him.
Along the way there are some colorful characters that help the story along such as Max's neighbor, Smitty and Glover's co-workers and friends named Charmaine and Mona. It's a great read and well worth your time because the author is a powerful writer.
I like a few other of his books but as I started reading this one I said to myself "she can't be this foolish can she?" Don't get me wrong i know a few foolish women but to watch this situation play out was like watching a car accident happen and not being able to do anything about it. I had to put it down after a quarter way through.
I was surprised in this book. I checked it out from the Library because I've read other works by this author with Carl Webber. It started off very slow, and I was not sure if I was going to finish it. But it finally got better as well as interesting later on.
