Not everything was true in this book, like the part about his tattoo of "Winona Forever" and how painful it was to remove the letters, so he stopped and left it as "Wino Forever." Ugh. I think almost everyone knows that was deliberate. It only left me questioning what else was not true in the book.

An average person would most likely know Johnny Depp from his magical performances and his incredible talent in understanding the character he plays and committing to it. However, there is so much more information about him that people do not know. Johnny Depp written by Kara Higgins is a biography that recounts Johnny Depp’s life up until now, whether it is his family life, career, or friendships. John Christopher Depp II, Jonny Depp’s official name, was born on June 9, 1963, in Owensboro, Kentucky. Furthermore, he is the youngest of four siblings; Danny, Debbie, and Christie. When he was young, he spent most of his days picking up tobacco on his grandfather’s farm. His grandfather and him were inseparable. However, his grandfather became ill and passed away shortly after Johnny’s 7th birthday. This event devastated him and he stated, “That was a real big thing for me, But I’m sure that my Paw is around-guiding, watching.” In addition, as a child, Johnny Depp moved to new cities a lot, sometimes living in motels and barns. An interesting fact that the biography mentioned is that Depp started to regularly take drugs by the time he was fourteen years old. “Pretty much any drug you can name, I’ve done it,” he says. Fortunately, music saved him and he decided to quit drugs, in order to stop it from interfering with his passion for music. When he grew up, Depp realised that drugs were not the solution to any of his problems and he tried his best to exhibit this message to the 21 Jump Street audience. In conclusion, one would recommend this biography to any fan of Johnny Depp or someone interested in pursuing acting as a job.
Johnny Depp is now known as one of the greatest actors on Earth, due to his ability to understand and commit to the role he is given. Depp is unlike any other actor, he is dark, brooding, and has a natural charisma. Holly Robison Peete, his 21 Jump Street co star, said, “Everybody else tries to be cool, but Johnny just is.” Furthermore, one of Depp’s greatest qualities is the fact that he is honest and would not want to be stereotyped as someone he is not. When he was in the cast of 21 Jump Street, the producers realised that he attracted the audience and decided to give him the image of the bad, careless boy. As soon as this happened, Depp began to have thousands of fans begging for his autograph and his life completely changed. He could not take it anymore and did his best to leave the 21 Jump Street crew, even though he had a six year contract. Although he proposed to film one whole season without the pay, the producers refused, knowing that if Johnny left the TV show, so would the success. An interesting question that could be asked to Johnny Depp is “What was the best part in the filming of Pirates of Caribbean ?” This would be interesting since the audience could see how much effort was put into the scenery and costumes. Thus, Johnny Depp is known to be an eccentric actor with the ability to become the role he should play.
In conclusion, one would recommend this biography to any fan of Johnny Depp or someone interested in pursuing acting as a job. This biography would be perfect for fans, since the information is one hundred percent accurate, whereas gossip magazines tend to exaggerate and even create information, in order to sell copies. One would also recommend it to one of Johnny Depp’s loving fans, since this biography mentions many rather personal information, such as how he rebelled in his teenage years or how he got a scar on his cheek. Anyone can learn so much about him and his personality after reading this biography. For example, after reading this novel, most readers feel like they personally know Johnny. All of the details mentioned about him and all of his rather crazy adventures make the reader feel like they were present in his life. Furthermore, this biography could also be recommended to someone who would like to be an actor or is curious about this job, because it gives you an idea of what the life of a successful actor looks like and how much personal life they have. Even though acting novels would most likely help, reading about the personal life of an actor could help you decide if that is really the path you wish to take in life. Nevertheless, any fan of Johnny Depp and a person who is curious about the life of an actor, would enjoy reading Johnny Depp’s biography.

December 11, 2014As the story opens, Johnny's childhood was introduced. As a child, Depp was picking tobacco when he went to his grandfather, whom he called pawpaw. They where inseparable. As he grew older, Depp got the habit of watching movies and TV shows. He mostly watches scary movies. These are the first informations of my book.
I rated the book 3 stars for two reasons. First, the book only gives unimportant details. I want to know more about him. Second, I want to know who was his role model. I have to know WHO influenced him to love singing and acting. These are the two reasons why I rated it 3 stars.
In continuation of my reading, Johnny's teenage years have been introduced. At age 12 Johnny's parents got divorced. They divorced because they where fighting every time, it was a sad news/ good news because he would not hear his parents fight any more. After that he played in a band called The Kids with whom he preformed in clubs. They got a record deal. This is the second part of my book.
I upgraded it to 4 stars for several reasons. First, we got into the surprising details. For example, Johnny began drugs at age 15 ( he stopped at age 17). We found out that he loves rock music. He got influenced by Iggy Pop. These are the reasons why I upgraded the book to 4 stars.
In continuation of my reading, it got interesting. First of all, Johnny needed more money in addition to his record deal with The Kids ( his band ). So he decided to quit his band. After that, he met Nicolas Cage. Cage put him in a movie, and that is how he started his acting career. This is how it got interesting.
I upgraded the book to 5 stars for several reasons. First we finally new who put him in his acting career. Nicolas Cage made him be an actor. Second I am dumbfounded in front of all his first success. Since " 21 jump street " he had all the money he wanted. These are the reasons why I upgraded the book to 5 stars.

In continuation of my reading, Johnny's acting became professional. A bit after being in " 21 jump street " he was often compared to James Dean. He was compared to James Dean because they both acted very well. After, Johnny began to act in good movies. For example, Cry-Baby, in which he played the role as Wade the teenage rebel. This is how Johnny's acting became professional.
The book got interesting for several reasons. First, the movies/ series that Johnny played on are good. For example "21 Jump Street" and " Cry- Baby." Second, Johnny's life has changed with meeting Vanessa Paradis. Vanessa and Johnny where in love at that time. These are the reasons why the book got interesting.

In continuation of my reading, Depp went into good movies. Depp played as Edward Scissorhands in the movie Scissorhands. Michael Jackson and Tom Cruise auditioned for the role of Edward but Depp performed the best. Depp also played in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. He played as Gilbert, a young man who spends time taking care of his mother and his brother who is retarded. These are the good movies that Depp played on in his first years of acting.
1 star has been taken off for several reasons. First, In my opinion Depp's movies at the moment are good but not the "good" expected. The movies that has been said in the first paragraph are not that known. Second, I hope the book will get better. It would get better on showin the famous movies that he has been on. These are the reasons why 1 star has been taken off.

The book gave so much amazing detail about him and his life and tells you all about the ups and downs he went through just to get where he is now.<3
