I’m from New Orleans, that’s N’awlins for those of you who speak the language. I grew up in the Riverbend, or Carrollton, for the old timers, but was a Quarter rat from the age of 11, taking 3 buses to go to art class on Burgundy Street at the Cabrini Doll Museum and NORD center. I attended University of New Orleans and have a BA in Fine Art. My mother worked at Tulane University, six blocks from our house and when we were kids my brother and I parked cars in our driveway for the Saints games at Tulane Stadium. We could get six cars down the drive, two on the front lawn, and two on the street and we only charged $2 a car. We made enough to buy a coupla roast beef po’boys at Comeaux’s on Hickory St. and a snowball over at Williams Snow Ball Stand. We lived 1/2 a block from a cemetery, but doesn’t everyone in N’awlins? We used to watch jazz funerals from our front porch.
Now, my family lives in Katy, Texas. I have a “real” job, a truly supportive and understanding husband, two incredible kids, and a slightly neurotic dog. We used to have a guinea pig, but the dog killed it. Did I say slightly?
My son is 15 and has Asperger’s Syndrome (high functioning Autism) and Crohn’s Disease, and is a constant lesson in patience, acceptance and managing expectations. He’s super smart, loves video games, fencing, movies, building with legos, and hanging around the house. Like me, he believes that it’s all about him. Sometimes, I wonder if I don’t have Asperger’s, too. Oh, and he’s very handsome.
My daughter, 13, is so creative it’s scary- she loves to paint, draw manga and anima, build dioramas with any box she can get her hands on, create worlds with legos and then make movies with them, sculpt people, animals and objects with those little twist ties from the grocery store, does pottery, and wants to be a lifeguard. And she’s smart, too. And beautiful, inside and out.
I write for a few hours in the evenings and on weekends as much as I can, without neglecting my family. (That laughter you hear is my husband) I attend a critique group, and do whatever the kids are into at the time.
If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times: I am crazy about firefighters! A firefighter who saves me? Oh Mommy, he could get the firstborn kid. *smirk* I am suitably crazy over Lynn Lorenz's stories so I knew in advance that I would love this one. The fact that it describes my idea of the perfect vacation didn't hurt, either.
Troy is doing the typical "I can make him love me if we just spend enough time together" single guy dance. In my book, if you have to "make" someone love you then it isn't real. He's been lusting after this idiot, Douglas, for a year. Troy has gone to great lengths to try to make himself attractive to this jerk, even though Troy's best friend describes Troy as smart, witty, and a gorgeous guy with a heart of gold. But, now Troy has his chance. He's spending a week on a cruise with Douglas and other friends and Troy just knows that when the seven days are up, Douglas will be his. When Troy's apartment goes up in flames due to his neighbor smoking while sleeping, Troy is forced out the bathroom window to balance precariously three stories up on a tiny ledge. Yikes!
Lucky for Troy, Jason is the gorgeous firefighter who saves him and brings him down on the ladder. Troy realizes at the hospital that he has no one to call to come pick him up. He has no cell phone, no wallet, no money, no home. Troy is shocked when Jason appears at the hospital to check on him and even more surprised when Jason offers to let Troy stay with him until he can get things sorted out. Jason is a little surprised that he made the offer, too, but something about Troy rouses protective and possessive feelings that Jason has never had. It doesn't take these two gorgeous men long before they've fallen into bed and Jason is introducing Troy to a little bondage play. These guys are very intense and the sex is incredible. Jason is determined to give Troy a vacation he won't ever forget, and in the process hopes that Troy won't want to leave when his friends come back.
The vacation starts with Jason getting Troy into much better-looking clothes than Dockers and button-downs. Troy is only five years older so why dress like an old man? Next it's up to the lake for a day of Jet Skis and parasailing, stuff Troy's never done before, and they have a blast. Jason takes Troy deep-sea fishing and it's some of the most fun Troy has ever had. Jason doesn't want to bring up looking for a new apartment and Troy doesn't either, but both believe the other wants them to, and so begin the miscommunications. Neither one of them wants to speak up about their feelings for fear if being hurt. Silly men. HA!
If you enjoy a lighthearted romance with not a lot of drama but an incredible amount of sex, then this might be the story for you. It's fun, sweet, and sexy with a good ending. Thank you, Lynn!

2015 book challengeThis one just didn’t appeal to me at all … I can’t put my finger on the exact reason why … I usually like the dichotomy of a younger, brash top but there were ‘issues’ that kept me from enjoying the story … Jason seemed too vulnerable to be as toppy as portrayed … insta love isn’t my favorite trope … but, the biggest issue was the fact that the angst hung on a simple lack of communication … it does my head in when characters don’t frickin’ talk to each other … in all fairness, this story probably isn’t too bad … it just managed to incorporate a number of my pet peeves which stopped me from truly enjoying the story.
This was a very adorable romance. I enjoyed the dynamic between Troy and Jason. The miscommunications going on between the men where classic and yet not trite. At the beginning of the story, Troy seemed much younger to me, maybe it was his sole focus on his upcoming vacation and his potential conquests, but I would have pegged him as early 20’s, not mid 30’s, and I’m not sure that immature attitude ever really left him. Jason on the other hand is very much his 29 years with a boyish enthusiasm for life.
Troy is made homeless following a fire at his apartment building. Jason, the firefighter who rescues him offers him a place to stay for the week. There is a lot of sex in this book and I thought at times it leant towards PWP. As time goes by, both men realize that they don't want the other to leave at the end of the week but it drags on for a long time before somebody says something.
I'm of the same opinion as J about this. It's a fun, frothy, forgettable read. There's no heavy emo thing going on as even the two guys' uncertainty about each other, albeit justified, felt contrived. If you're in the mood for a non-suspense, light MM romance, this should please.
This was a sweet story if you can get over the insta-love. A little bit annoying at times because if the two of them would just talk, then they would know how each other felt, but nevertheless a nice read.
Sweet story, a bit of instant love/lust, but an enjoyable read. The Dom/sub storyline felt a bit off to me, sort of thrown in there, but not necessary.
I thought I would pull my hair out waiting for these two to figure out they the other person loved them. UGH. Great build up and background of characters.
Troy was packed and ready for his vacation cruise with his friends including Douglas, the man he thought was the one. He got into the tub to soak until he was a prune. All of a sudden he hears the screeching sound of the smoke detector. Out of the tub to the bathroom door, he touches the doorknob only to yank it back. Now smoke is coming in under the door. He opens the small bathroom window and wets two towels and climbs out. Three stories up and wondering if he should jump or not. He stands up hugging the building and moving along a tiny ledge. Sirens sound in the distance coming his way.
Jason is a firefighter riding in the jump seat of the ladder truck as it pulls up to the scene. He jumps out to survey the scene and sees a man clinging to the side of the building. Another firefighter starts extending the ladder for Jason to use. He climbs up the ladder and tells the man he's coming to help and to stay right there. The man laughs and says what do you think I am doing? They get down the ladder and Jason hands him off to a EMT. They transport the man to the hospital. After Jason's shift is over he heads over to check on the man.
Troy is on a gurney in a small room. Oxygen, fluids by IV and cuts scrapes bandaged they are ready to release him. But he has no where to go. Jason walks in the room and they introduce themselves. Jason offers Troy a place to stay. Troy says yes.
This begins the relationship between them. Just like typical men they don't talk about their feelings.(sorry guys but its true) Neither one admits they don't want it to end.
This was an average book, it was light and fun. But, it lacked some depth.
At the end of the story, I'm not convinced that the heroes can withstand a fully committed life together, because the seven days they spent living together weren't used in any way to build a strong relationship. They spent their time having sex, and there's nothing wrong with that. But, it leaves me doubtful that it can last. With all the adrenalin rushes they experienced, their feelings could be confusing. They seem to have nothing in common with each other, except their mutual lust.
Speaking of lust, it seems that the story was written around the sex scenes, just to fill the blanks. And, as much as I like hot sex scenes (and I really do), there needs to be a complete and worthwhile story, good characters with good chemistry. Without at least one of those components, the book leaves me empty.
One of the only redeeming qualities of this book is the characterization of the heroes. But it wasn't enough to ignite in me more than a passing interest.
The title alone was enough to pique my interest. Then there were the people that couldn't say enough good things about it. Of course when I read the story description I was sold... and so very glad that I bought into it all.
If you're looking for high adventure; thrills, chills & spills; death-defying actions... well, maybe not. Then again.... There is the death-defying and hanging-on-by-his-fingernails...literally...frightening experience for poor Troy as he loses everything, except his life... oh and a bathroom towel, in a terrible fire. Then there's an extremely heroic and very sexy firefighter, Jason, who rescues aforementioned wall-clinging-to-save-his-life Troy. But most of all if you're looking for a fun yet wonderful romance this is the book for you!
And there's a lot to be said for dreaming and doing what you can to achieve said dream... but hanging onto a dream that's going nowhere; well suffice it to say this story works very well indeed.
I can't imagine losing everything I own to a fire. Troy handled it way better than I would have. But then again, if I had Jason, I would have probably done pretty good too! :) The relationship between these two is great. If they would communicate early on it would have been even better. Troy was about to go on a cruise thinking that was going to be a great vacation, little did he know that Jason was going to give him a vacation that he would never forget. I would highly recommend this book! Happy Reading!
troy is a delusional twink in the beginning then he morphs into this completely different guy who suddenly falls in love with somebody other than the original guy he's swooning over. blech. as for jason, i have no opinion about him. Also, the word bravura (musical style) was used instead of what i assume the author meant, bravado (boldness). editing, people. editing.
I really appreciate the way the author solves the angst issue: make the one of the protagonists talk to the other so that he doesn't to move out, rather than let them fight and separate from miscommunication.

Sweet, sexy story about two guys who spend a week together and end up wanting more. The sex was steamy at times, the romance was super sweet, but overall this was a nice feel good book.
