Reiki master and best-selling author Diane Stein has been a dedicated hands-on healer since 1988. Stein believes strongly that this powerful healing art, once a closely guarded secret tradition, should be accessible and available to all. Since she began teaching in 1990, Stein has initiated thousands of students in all three levels of Reiki healing. Through these efforts she developed a comprehensive teaching method that encompasses the fundamentals of this ancient system.
The ESSENTIAL REIKI TEACHING MANUAL equips the Reiki initiate with the practical tools needed for launching a Reiki healing practice, leading a Reiki workshop, and becoming a more effective Reiki practitioner. This hands-on instructional guide together with the digitally re-mastered DIANE STEIN'S ESSENTIAL REIKI WORKSHOP DVD is the next best thing to a personal teaching session with Diane Stein herself.

Most beneficial as I studied to acquire my Reiki Master certification. I've read all of Diane Stein's Reiki material and I find it informative, easily understood and continue to use it on a daily basis - personally and as I share this wonderful healing truth with friends, family and acquaintances.
Very informative book, well written in a down to earth manner. Stein gives you a good guidebook for the practical application of reiki if you are teaching it to others, dealing with students, clients and such. Highly recommend this book to be part of your reiki collection.
A wonderful book for Reiki Masters and Reiki Practitioners. I have added a few things into my healings thanks to this book. I also learned a few things to add to teaching my Reiki classes.
I thought it was very informative. Stein is very transparent in this book about how she teaches, what she charges, and how she handles difficult students or unsavory situations. She gives you worksheets that you can use for your own classes. She also shares extremely practical information like how to build up your energetic stamina to give many attunements at once and how frequently to teach (as well as tips like male sure you're giving yourself breaks between teaching). This kind of stuff might be obvious to some people, but I really appreciated having a very clear, step-by-step guide for just about everything. Not every style of Reiki is covered in this book and that might be a turn off for you as Stein pioneered the non-traditional way of teaching and learning Reiki but this guide has been worth it's weight in gold for me.
Excellent book! We were initiated into Reiki by several individuals over a 30 year time span. They each wanted to share what they had learned with us and we were thankful. However, it wasn't until our sister gifted us with this book and its book companion "A Complete Guide to an Ancient Healing Art" that we truly understood Reiki. It is true that you do not need this Teaching Manual if you are just going to practice as an individual, but we do suggest both books if you are going to teach Reiki to others.
A very good overview for anyone interested in teaching Reiki. Ms. Stein goes over the nuts and bolts of getting it done, with strong reality checks thrown in. I was trained through the International Center for Reiki Training using their own teaching materials, not with Ms. Stein's Essential Reiki book, but I still found this to be very useful. I just wish it didn't end with the section on burnout, but had something more uplifting and encouraging at the end.
I didn't like it. I am a traditional, certified Usui Reiki Master. The information she gives is informative, but not in the code of ethics as we are taught.
I was just attuned to Reiki level III this summer, and this is the book we received as part of the class. I've had Diane Stein's Essential Reiki for many years & find it to be a wonderful book.
This book is well thought out and a very easy read. Diane not only covers the basics of Reiki, but also shows the symbols used in the art, explaining how to use them. Even if you are not interested in becoming a Reiki practitioner, the book is an excellent book to learn more about the art and understand what it is about. If you are a Reiki practitioner or live with one, i highly recommend this book.
