A Filly Called Easter

Rate this book
Linda gasped! All dreams of finding a new barrel racing horse flew out the window. The golden palomino standing before her with soft brown eyes and a silver mane and tail was drop dead gorgeous… and much too young to be that pregnant! What was a filly like her doing at a slaughter house auction? Would her father let Linda take her home? Times were hard. Could they afford the vet bills for the filly and her unborn foal? There were bound to be many. Find the answer to these questions in this amazing Hallmark style story about love at first sight and the girl who just wouldn’t give up on the filly called Easter, especially when Mother Nature enters into the fray. Inspired by a true story. This is the third and last book revolving around the characters introduced in One Frosty Christmas. In saying this, all books are designed as stand alones. It is an ageless classic suitable for readers from 7 to 98. Read it now…available in print, e-book and audio book for your listening pleasure. Here’s what people are saying about A Filly Called “My horse crazy granddaughter and I both loved this story.” "Anyone who has ever dreamed of that perfect horse, or felt that connection and pleasure of enjoying the world from the back of a horse, should give this story a try." Laura is a Vancouver Island based author of a middle grade equestrian series and two cozy mystery series. She is also a screenwriter with several options and awards to her credit.

Hesse grew up a back stage brat in music hall theater and credits her mother with her love of dance and song and her father with her love of reading and writing. When she is not writing, she can be found on a beach somewhere or singing at a local jam.

While her horses have all passed over the rainbow, they appear in many of her stories.

I had listened to One Frosty Christmas about three months ago and was thrilled Laura Hesse teamed up with Leslie Howard, who had narrated that audiobook, too. (Even though it does not indicate on the audiobook these horse tails are part of The Holiday Series.) These books all seem to be complete stand alone books.

A Filly Called Easter also takes place in River Bend and Hannah (main character from One Frosty Christmas) also has a cameo appearance.
“March 26 and it’s starting to snow again.” This book could have easily been written this year, in which some of us in the US got snow last night!

A sweet, kind story about the compassion among strangers, friends, and the animals they choose to care for. Full of heartache, heart, and love, this is a wonderfully warm story to listen to any day of the year!

This was the best of the three books in the series. Easter is a two year old horse, who became pregnant accidentally. She has many pregnancy related problems, including the weather.
