Tempting Grace

Rate this book
A hard man is good to find and impossible to resist.

The Vaughn Series, Book 4

Since a car accident left her unable to have children, Grace Vaughn has hidden her heart behind a wall. So far it s held strong, and no one complains much except the few men she dates.

Now that fortress is crumbling thanks to Jackson Hill, an annoyingly attractive man who makes her imagination go wild just watching him in the office. He s practically bullied her into attending a Vegas conference with him. Three days alone with the delicious Jackson in Sin City, no less is sure to push her right over the edge.

With a loving family, a decent bank account, a nice set of clubs, Jackson s life is almost complete. Except for the missing piece. Grace. She sets a fire in his blood, and the conference is the perfect crowbar to get past her defense mechanisms. It s time to see if the bump-and-grind potential in that booty of hers can be channeled into something a little more satisfying than looking.

He s got just the tactic to get her to let down her guard and hopefully her panties. A wicked bet. Because if there s one thing he knows about Grace, she can t resist a double-dog-dare "

Hmmm, what can I say?

I don't feel like writing a full review - you can read Auntee's excellent review here - so I'm just going to go straight to the point:

1. I didn't like Jackson. He was too dominant for my taste, and the way he kept adressing Grace as "pet" grated on my nerves.

2. I didn't like Grace. She was too abrasive, and her behavior was a bit teenager-ish. She had the hots for Jackson, so what did she do? She picked figths with him, because she was "afraid" of getting involved with him.

3. I didn't enjoy the love scenes. This story is way steamier than the previous ones in the series, that's a fact, but it didn't work for me. Jackson and Grace's lovemaking (which included everything from oral sex, anal sex, bondage, spanking and hints of D/s) was out of my comfort zone, and I found myself squirming on my seat. And I don't mean that in the "good" way.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed with this read, because I really liked the previous stories. Considering how the sexcapades escalated in each story as the series progressed, I'm not sure the next story - if Ms. Rainey keeps writing this series, that is - will be an auto-buy to me. Yes, I'm "scared" of her writing now.

Meh.
H is a bit of a player and dated/slept with other women, sometimes for months even though he was hugely attracted to h and made passes at her:(( h is not with anyone in all that time.
Plus H was a decade older than 22 yr old h and was kinky to her innocence, it all felt a bit icky.

Well Anne Rainey has done it again, with this latest installment of the Vaughn Family Series--this is another smokin' hot little short story! Somehow, with only 70 pages to work with, she delivered enough backstory to make me feel like I knew the characters and made me care for them. She offered up a simple (but hot) plot about two co-workers who've been circling each other for a year, each desiring the other and trading sexy barbs, but reluctant to start anything.

Twenty-two year old Grace Vaughn is the cousin to siblings Blade, Lacey, and Merrick Vaughn (all seen in Seduce Me), and she works as a marketing rep at Merrick's IT company, under the direct supervision of one smokin' hot man, thirty-two year old Jackson Hill. She first met former Marine Jackson two years ago when he was playing basketball with her cousin Blade and she was one interested observer. They shared a quick, innuendo laced conversation that got them both all hot and bothered, and had Grace running for her car to make a quick getaway. Now it's two years later, Grace is working at her cousin's company, and after a year of being in close proximity to the tall, dark and hunky Jackson, it's all Grace can do to stop herself from jumping his bones. But Grace knows that Jackson isn't a relationship kind of guy, and no way does she want to be just another notch on his belt. But God, those heated looks he keeps sending her are driving her crazy, and it's just a matter of time before she snaps! And then where will she be?

Jackson's had the hots for the little blonde 'Gracie' ever since he met her. He tried to be subtle about his attraction to her and what he wanted but Grace continues to shoot him down with her sarcastic, sassy mouth (which is a turn on to him), which she's using to keep him at arm's length. He knows the attraction's there, but how can he get her to act on it? If he can get her alone, maybe he can force her to admit that she wants him as much as he wants her. Perhaps a challenge is in order? What if he dares her to go with him to that big IT convention held in Las Vegas? Would she be able to resist temptation then?

Well, Grace accepts the dare, and after a very steamy visit from Jackson to Grace's apartment that leaves her aching for more, Grace knows what's in store for her when she gets to Vegas. But will she be able to risk her heart? Is it possible that Jackson wants more from her than a short fling? And will Jackson be able to get Grace to let her guard down, and show her that she's the only woman for him?

I loved Jackson and Grace! Loved the way they flirted, loved the dialogue, loved how they drove each other crazy, and loved getting into their heads and hearing their thoughts about each other. Some of the inner dialogue actually made me laugh! This was Grace, watching Jackson as he walked out the door..."He turned and started for his office. Grace watched the way his a** moved beneath his black dress slacks. God, the man was delicious. A squeeze. Just one squeeze and she could live the rest of her life with a grin on her face."

I also liked how Jackson helped Grace deal with her fears of inadequacies as a woman and what she could bring to a relationship. Because of a car accident earlier as a teenager, Grace suffered some internal injuries that could possibly hinder her dreams of one day having a family. But I loved how Jackson handled that possibility with Grace, and laid it on the line when he spoke his true feelings to her. Very touching.

Now as you can expect, the sex scenes were plenty steamy, and might not be for every reader. There was some oral sex, an anal scene, and some light bondage invoving a rope, and plenty of racy dialogue. So yes, things get mighty explicit, and Jackson did have a bit of a dom in him and wanted Grace's submission, but there was nothing degrading or humiliating in their scenes--they were all pretty passionate and loving...and smokin' hot!

Add a nice little HEA and a promising future, and you have a winner! I hope Ms. Rainey keeps on with this series--hopefully there's some more Vaughns out there! 4 1/2 stars

I enjoyed this. Grace’s tentative risk taking on love with Jackson and Jackson’s determined pursuit of her made for an interesting story. I was rooting for them through out and the attraction between them is hot.

This book.... hmm. I liked the character setup. I didn't mind the shortness of the story. The sex scenes are pretty good (not great) but the end feels a little forced.

I had felt like Anne Rainey started this story weeks before the deadline, got quite far and then something came up. If it wasn't one thing, it was another, and the days flew by. Next thing Anne knew she had 4 hours until the deadline for this story. So she scurried and got it done.

It was a shame really, because it started off quite interesting. I really liked Jackson. I wanted more info, more conflict with Jackson. But no such luck.

I don't think I will be reading any of the other books in this series.

I really enjoyed this one with Gracie and Jackson. She has been in love with him since they first met but has fought tooth and nail to stay away from him. He has desired her since he first saw her but does not realize it is much more. Jackson takes a chance by bringing Grace to Vegas to make her finally see they fit each other. Jackson is kinky and enjoys different ways of pleasure while showing Grace what her body is capible of feeling. Love is riddled through out the book. I really hoped they would have come back from Vegas married by Elvis but other than that it was good.

Tempting Grace is the fourth installment in the Vaughn Series. In Taking Chloe, we got a glimpse of Grace and Jackson. It was mentioned that both they got the hots for each other, but they don't exactly see eye to eye.

I enjoyed it. The book's good but not as good as Taking Chloe. I guess book three was pretty much my favorite in the series. Anyways, back to this one, Grace ogled Jackson the first time she met him. Then and there, Grace knew he was lethal and way out of her league. She liked simple guys. Guys, she could easily handle it. And Jackson was neither. So she ran as fast as she could. But working at her cousin's company kept her near the enchanting and tempting Jackson. Grace knew it was just a matter of time before she finally gave in.

Jackson had been lusting after Grace from the moment he'd spotted her. He'd tried the subtle approach, but that had gotten him exactly nowhere. Grace shot him down like a clay pigeon. He knew the feelings mutual. She wanted him as much as he wanted her. She can't seem to let her guard down to let him in. He'd yet to figure out why and how. Because if he didn't get her to submit soon, he'd explode. What if he dares her to join him in Las Vegas for that IT Convention? Will Grace say no, or will she no longer resist him?

Woot!!! I enjoyed reading Grace and Jackson's story! I loved the banters and witty remarks between them. I loved the way they drove each other crazy. Jackson, with a sultry-dirty-talking, dominating bedroom demeanor combined with his alpha, sweet, possessive, and romantic attitude, had me melting to the floor.

Overall, Tempting Grace was a delightful read, and I could not put it down. I enjoyed all the characters in this book and would love to read more about them. You will find yourself rooting for them and cheering for Jackson as he slowly breaks down Grace's barriers. My only complaint is that I wanted more of them.

Definitely my favorite in the Vaughn series. I always love revisiting old characters in a series and this book allowed us to do that. Plus, Grace & Jackson's story was hot enough on it's own to hold the reader's interest.

This book was neither my favorite nor my least favorite in the series. I liked the characters, though I thought Grace was a bit immature at times. I loved the lead up, but I felt the end was a bit rushed. It was a good read, and I enjoyed it.

This story will even spark the most benign of love lives. He wants her, and he's gonna have her tale. And they share a lot of it--tail I mean.
A quick and most satisfying read.
