The Journeys Trilogy #2.5

Cosmic Journeys: My Out-of-Body Explorations With Robert A. Monroe

Rate this book
Explorers are known for the journeys they take, Rosie McKnight explored the vast nonphysical dimensions of consciousness. With famed out-of-body researcher Robert Monroe, she helped to further the understanding of human consciousness, and to demonstrate beyond doubt that we are more than our physical bodies. Many of these pioneering sessions are presented here almost word for word, as they were taped, along with her warm and inspiring observations of Bob Monroe and the early days of The Monroe Institute (TMI). Here are explorations of non-human energy systems, interactions with highly evolved beings, concepts about the makeup of the many levels of the universe, views of the afterlife and the animal dimensions, the nature of healing and guidance, a look at the future, and much more. Here is the pursuit of the true meaning of science fearlessly mapping wherever the inquisitive mind takes us. Through the courage of Rosie McKnight and other explorers at TMI, we are given, as Laurie Monroe writes in her introduction, "a clarity of perception and a sense of the greatness that is beyond our everyday life."

I read this book with the same fascination that led me to 'How to Kiss the Universe', which is a similar account of someone's personal experiences at The Monroe Institute, where participants can attend on site to explore the out of body state.

Out-of-body experiences (OBEs) are the subject of this work, which tracks the author's long involvement in the 1970s and beyond in TMI research programs as a subject. Much of the book records transcripts of the sessions with the Institute's founder, Robert Monroe at the helm, while McKnight was in the isolation chamber getting up close and personal with her guides, other entities and higher life forms.

Some of it is challenging to read, but all of it is fascinating if this is your jam. A great book for readers interested in consciousness studies, afterlife or near-death experience research from a scientific and authentic perspective. Non nonsense and no BS.

Anything related to Robert Monroe & the people he worked with is well worth a read. Packed with interesting perspectives on the greater aspects of our reality and inspiring in the sense that everything Rosalind talks about is available to all humans. Some very interesting cross overs with the UFO/UAP topic too. Would suggest reading Robert Monroe’s trilogy first before diving into this one though.

I am reading this book. That's perfectly fascinating. By reading this book you perceive that we always had been and always will be. It fascinates me that the term: like attracts like, constantly is repeated within this book

Rosalind McKnight was a participant in the out of body research done with Bob Monroe at the Monroe institute. Bob Monroe was a pioneering researcher on out of body experiences and has authored three books on the subject: Journey's Out of the Body, Far Journeys and Ultimate Journey. He also mentored Tom Campbell, who himself is a pioneering researcher on the nature of the physical and non-physicals worlds. Tom is the author if My Big TOE (Theory of Everything), which is an amazing book on the subject.

Participants at the Monroe Institute often recite Bob Monroe's affirmation: "I am more than my physical body. Because I am more that physical matter, I can perceive that which is greater than the physical world. . . ." Through various training methods taught at the Monroe Institute, Rosalind was able to travel out of body at will. Perceiving that which is greater than the physical world is an understatement of what she experienced!

As the book's title indicates, it chronicles a large number of Rosalind's out of body experiences. Some of them are quite bizarre, others are very enlightening, and some consist of Q&A sessions with guides that she meets during her travels. For example, desiring to understand the nature of God, in one session she asks, what is the nature of God. The answer is "God is experienced, not understood. Man's mind is a part of the physical creation, and therefore cannot comprehend the true nature of that which goes beyond itself." Not so helpful, but it does give a hint as to why the nature of God is difficult to grasp.

In her book, Rosalind does not do any evangelizing nor is she trying to convince anybody of anything. She is just presenting what she experienced and leaves the reader to decide for themselves how to interpret them. I do not interpret some her experiences exactly the way she did, but nevertheless, many of them added to my current understanding of the non-physical reality.

Overall, it is a fascinating book, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in out of body experiences.

I really enjoyed this book, and I have to say that it's pretty much the 4th adopted child of the Robert A. Monroe trilogy that began with Journeys out of the body. I say this because this book is often a word-for-word transcript between Robert Monroe and Rosalind McKnight as she was going on her OBE explorations back in the first days of the Monroe Institute. Therefore this book sheds some wonderful light on the experiences of Monroe's exploratory team and even has some stories cross over from his books, so it's great to see these from another perspective.

Unlike Monroe's books that are based on his "experience" of being out of the body, and then him rationalizing his experience, this book is much more like a channelled book. As I am quite sceptical on the information that comes through channelled, for that reason I had to dock it some stars.
