The most useful professional reference for treating PTSD I have ever found. If I could only have five books on psychology on my shelf, this would be one of them. Matsakis does a masterful, thorough and organized job of examining different aspects of PTSD causes and symptoms and different approaches and phases of treatment, in concrete and easy-to-apply terms. Too many books on psychology are filled with fascinating theoretical stuff, but are silent on how to translate it into treatment techniques. This book is refreshingly free of that problem.
This book has been my life safer over the many years of suffering ptsd. It is the best reference book I've purchased and well worth the money I spend. I read when I'm having a bad moment in my life caused by ptsd and it helps me alot and when i can't get into my councellor it helps me get through. it's got everything in it you need to know. Highly recommended.
