This book was dedicated to Maas' mother, who raised Angora rabbits for 30+ years. Which makes me wonder:
* Did she ever stop raising Angora rabbits? * Was she glad that this book was dedicated to her?
I've got a feeling she wouldn't have minded having this book dedicated to her, since it does have a lot of bunny facts that usually aren't found in books of this type (geared to 8-10 year olds). For example, it recommends spaying or neutering rabbits. Almost all of the rabbits pictured are adults -- and not dwarfs, either, which lets you know that they can often grow larger than a cat.
This only skirted the basics of care and did not go into any detail, such as how to properly pick up a rabbit. It just mentioned to get an adult to show you how to do it. Let me note that most adults haven't a fucking clue how to do this. Most people still pick up a rabbit by the ears, even pet store workers.
There are some very good color cartoon bunnies in here by Kim Brown. The majority of illustrations are large color photos.
Only downside -- it did not mention animal shelters as a source for pet rabbits, but did mention pet stores. Yikes. Even Petsmart stopped selling rabbits since this was published.
