I used to write books in boarding school so the nuns could not get me to re-do my homework(I finished fast). But when I got older and started to fight with a typewriter, I lost interest. I have loved dogs, Arabian horses, classical music and am an avid reader. How I came to write my book when I was so heartbroken at the end of the movie"The Phantom of the Opera" (yes, I cried, and cried, etc.) I figured the only way to have him find closure was my day dreams of what could have happened to him. was to write it myself. Thank the good Lord for computers. I wish they had been around in the 50's and 60's. My favorite genre's for reading are Historical-fiction or romance, Mystery, Thrillers, some biography, and WWII, Eastern Front, non-fiction or fiction.

When one undertakes to write a sequel to "The Phantom of the Opera',one of the most beloved books of the past two centuries, it is an ominous task indeed. Can the author capture the feeling..the essence of the original? In The Phantom's Redemption, Anne B. Caluwaert uses her remarkable writing skills and obvious love of the original to fashion a most affecting and superb novel. This is a most successful book!

Erik (The Phantom) is once again presented as a multi-dimensional character. Ms. Caluwaert has continued his story and yet been quite adept at remaining true to the original. This is not to say that there is not new, and very interesting asides added, yet they work to enhance the characters and add to a most pleasing reading experience. I was quite taken by the evocative prose, the sense of time and place..all combine to produce a work that is most worthy..quite a fine novel indeed!
