You have never met anyone quite like Lawrence Hunt. Few young men have ever been so beautiful to behold, so exotic...so dangerous. Just ask broodingly handsome Lieutenant Joe McMurphy, the rugged and jaded police detective assigned to investigate the case when Lawrence is brutally murdered one sweltering summer weekend. From the moment McMurphy enters Lawrence's world of luxury and mystery, he finds himself challenged by the clues - and fighting his attraction to the victim's portrait, which captures both his eyes and his heart. A jealous uncle, a cheating would-be husband, a missing personal assistant with a motive, and a self-obsessed, monstrously endowed celebrity blogger are but some of the scheming men in Lawrence's life, and the chief suspects in his murder. But McMurphy, falling more deeply in love beneath the watchful blue gaze of the dead man's portrait, quickly comes to realize that not all the facts in this particular murder investigation are as clear cut as they appear to be, especially when it comes to the attractive ghost who haunts his dreams and waking hours, Lawrence.
Just awful I made it to the middle of chapter 3 approximately 14%
Chapter 1 was dreadful but I wanted to give the book a chance to see if it got better, it didn’t by the time I gave up.
Chapter 1 opens with the POV with the least likable character I have ever read, just pretentious and shallow and for being 40 very immature. He is in his bath tub the whole scene while the detective waits for him but can see him through the open prestigious penthouse apartment. I am sorry but this was the worst open chapter and was a struggle to finish.
Second Chapter is from the detectives POV and blah blah boring questions. The detective agrees to let the guy from the tub (also the primary murder suspect) come with him to interview other suspects. Yeah even though the guy is slimy and already posts everything on his blog the detective aggress to let him tag along
Chapter three, interviewing the victims uncle no real questions asked just the stupid guy from bath tub arguing and bickering with uncle but that was enough for the detective so they then interview the murder victims boyfriend again no questions answered just arguing with the bath tub guy. Then the detective agrees to let the boyfriend also tag along for not only interviews but investigating the crime scene.
Like wtf really? I couldn’t care less about the mystery or the characters with this one. Everyone was a pretentious idiot and it is not even worth it for me to read on
Life is too short and there are too many better books out there for me to spend precious hours (I'm old... I don't have that many left!) reading a book with a 2.00 rating. Sorry...
