Chyba po raz pierwszy czytałem serię Lemire, która nie była obciążona tak typowymi dla niego postaciami, maskami, rozterkami, choć nie wykluczam, że to kwestia rysownika, który kieruje uwagę czytelnika głównie na fantastyczną warstwę graficzną. Ech, to co tu się momentami dzieje na poziomie projektu całych stron jest naprawdę godne podziwu. Do tego niezła historia z mnóstwem zagadek jak u jakiegoś Lyncha i znakomite proporcje między tekstem, a grafiką, nadające całości sporo dynamizmu i trzymające w napięciu z serialową intensywnością. Take Twin Peaks and Dark and put them together with a bit of horror and surrealism and you get this. Gideon Falls is really good and the ideas presented here are very reminiscent of those two shows mentioned. Sometimes I wondered what exactly I was even reading at times and it really pulls you in. An insane blend of surrealism with the hopelessness of this town and its characters is truly fantastic. My only issue is the ending did feel a bit rushed and you'll feel that with the pacing of the comic & I would've liked it to be explored much further.

A dark, slow-burning horror series about a reclusive young man obsessed with collecting pieces of a mysterious black barn, and a washed-up priest drawn into a string of gruesome murders in a small town. The writing weaves psychological dread, cosmic horror, and grounded emotional stakes into a tense, twisting mystery, while the atmospheric, fragmented artwork heightens the sense of unease as the story builds steadily toward a deeply unnerving conclusion.

Spooky and surreal, with some really interesting meta use of the graphic novel format. Pretending I read the omnibus version here so I don't have to review six volumes!
