Viking & Saxon #3

Come Back to Me

Rate this book
After centuries of conflict, a peace treaty has finally been drawn between the warring Saxons and Norse — largely due to the wisdom and bravery of the legendary Viking leader Wolf Hakonson and the noble warrior Lord Hawk.

Hawk and Wolf each married women from warring clans to unite the Saxons and Norse. But for all its blessings, the promise of peace will remain fragile — unless it can be sealed forever by a third and final marriage between these two proud clans....

Come Back to Me

The most feared Viking to come out of the Northlands in a generation or more, Dragon Hakonson, brother to Lord Wolf and friend to Lord Hawk, hopes to steal a few days away by himself before entering into an arranged marriage with a Saxon bride.

But instead of tranquillity, Dragon finds intrigue and passion when he has a chance encounter with a beguiling beauty disguised in boy’s garb. It is clear that the fiery-haired, fiercely willed Rycca is running away from something ... or someone.

Dragon is determined to uncover Rycca’s reasons for escape and see her safely to her destination. Yet rather than surrender herself to Dragon’s care, Rycca dares to defy him, disarm him, and even enchant him.

For Rycca has a secret gift that Dragon cannot see. Stalked by the tragic past, struggling to fulfill the promise of peace, only when it is too late does Dragon discover the that the temptress who has stolen his heart is none other than the woman destined to become his reluctant bride....

I'm happy and sad to see this trilogy come to and end. The happy comes from me feeling like this trilogy went as far as it's going to go and I'm glad that I won't feel pressure to have to read on. The sad comes from realizing that there will be no more Vikings to read about. I guess I get to go feed my obsession by trying out some other authors who are writing about Vikings.

Many felt like the third book in the trilogy was the weakest, but since I wasn't able to finish the second book, I guess I'm in the minority. While the "full-on" Viking atmosphere wasn't as strong in Come Back to Me as I would have preferred, I did at least enjoy the sweet love story at work.

And by sweet, I mean "is this guy even a VIKING???" kind of sweet, which admittedly threw me for a loop.

Let me refer back to the first book. Wolf was a Viking through and through. Even if he wasn't the raping and pillaging type, he was still a warrior who was willing to mow down anyone who would dare to get in his way.

Wolf's brother Dragon (the hero of this book) was like the gentler little brother who is just as hot, but maybe not quite as alpha as we first were lead to believe. Which is okay with me. I found Dragon to be quite a delicious man in his own right.

BUT...I really wanted more of that true Viking feel to the story. And I didn't find it here.

My overall thoughts : The love story was charming, the sex was wonderful, and the bonds of new-found sisterhood were beautiful to witness. This author excels at drawing the reader into the time period and I am able to envision the clothing, the scenery, and the atmosphere as if I were there myself.

The reason why I can't go higher than 3 stars is only because I want more from a Viking tale. Book 1 set the bar so high that the following two books never really made it back up to that standard. This was an enjoyable read, but not on par with what I know this author is capable of.

If nothing else, do treat yourself to the magic of Dream of Me from Josie Litton. Then you can decide from there if you want to read the rest of the trilogy or not.

To be honest, the heroin irked me a bit. But it is forgotten once I finished the book as I closed it with a happy sigh, wishing that I can live like those characters. Nice story telling, and everything. I just wished that Dragon be a little more rogue like he was in the previous two books. Not that I'm complaining but somehow he lost a little of his charming here. Still a very nice book tho.

its been a few years since ive read dream of me/believe in me by josie litton, but from what i remember, the style of writing in here doesnt sound like it did it those books.
the part about her older brothers beating her and her twin sounds unrealistic.
"bat out of hell" & "dog tired" is rlly modern to be n this bk.
"her unruly self needs must be silenced."
"eyes that looked like shards of half-buried gold." wut exactly duz that look like?
i already knew dragon was a hounddog,so i just waited for it.&i didnt have2 wait long.pg 15 to be exact. "utterly, completely, unreservedly adored them.old, young,in between." oh geez.
"sweetling." boy,i hate stuff like that.
how can she say its his fault 4fallin off the cliff.u shud pay attention2where ur running.
this truth stuff is confusing.go ahead&tell us her power becuz its weird &confusing 2 leave it unexplained.i mean,im assuming she can tell truth from lies.
"most appealing pair of brown eyes." shes talking about a horse.
she has a chance2escape so she makes it2 the creek&just sits there.
the nightmare thing came out of left field.
their 1st kiss also came from left field.
"pleasure jellied her joints." why is that italicized?
"he was just a man just a man just a man." annoying.
"absolutely curl up n2 a lil ball of embarrassment &go poof away." mordern&stupid.
good thing its the main character hes kissin/sleepin w/otherwise he'd be kissin sum girl scant days b4 his marriage.
"she said please.that undid him.he hated2 deny women." well arent u sweet.
i couldnt believe it when she decided2have sex w/him.where did that come from? so wrong.so not romantic when they've known each other for like 2days.some1 needs2 tell authors that.
"the sublime skills of a beautiful houri as he had in byzantium.the carcassian, perhaps, the 1 w/the flame-red hair,or the nubian who had trained as a gymnist &cud..." thats nice.he remembers his many conquests in vivid detail&can recall them in a moments notice.its like he has it to forever compare his wife w/.this is prime time romance rite here.
"enough&enough again." wtf.
hawk.falcon.raven.these people must luv birds.
sum sentences n here dont make sense. like "an unfortunate caught between them wud have been crushed." the language in here is hard2 understand @times &there are quite a few gramatical errors.
she said they were @the lodge4several days.then why did we only hear of 2nites?
"she had betrayed him, with himself true enough but it was betrayal all the same." thanku! most authors dont address that.
who bites their lip so hard it bleeds?
modern things-
huzzies. down2earth. at any rate.
snatching at straws.you can change "grasping" to "snatching" but its still modern.
this is weird-"looked off in2 the middle distance."
idr cymbra's talent4 knowin ppls emotions.&how wud that gift make her figure out rycca's gift of knowin the truth?
&isnt it a lil fantastical that all 3 guys got w/supernatural ppl?
cymbra &wolf sound different2me.i hated it when they sailed back2their home.i rlly enjoyed their bk!
&i love when characters from the 1st bk n the series come back n the other bks.
a man gave a message2 the cornisher dressed as hawks men.gee,i think its magnus.how obvious.
i know hes suspicious but i thought it rude wen dragon had magnus escort her back&she dint take his hand or acknowledge him.
i knew she would use her gift for the boy said to be a thief.the whole thing reminded me of when cymbra was there when wolf dealt with someone and was gonna punish them.
when he told us he loved her,i was like rlly?? lil too soon.
i suspected magnus might be gay &it seemed like it even more when he said he wasnt gunna stop being second to him,but the characters nvr discussed it.
just because magda says everyone is happy for her &the jarl, she says "she&every1 else, including the comely young women rycca had seen occasionally casting wistful looks in dragons direction, were glad of the marriage." how can magda speak for every single person in town? &it doesnt mean those girls arent jealous or mad.geez!
i cant believe dragon actually thought rycca put the burrs in the saddle blanket.
"merry fellow" was ok the 1st time.the 2nd and 3rd time it got old.
rycca started out likeable &seemed conservative and shy but the 2nd she planned to have sex with him that all vanished &it was so uncharacteristic that she acted that way.
&im not sure how she knows about everything involving sex.she had given no indication that she grew up in an environment where she saw people having sex&people were crude &everything.
i have that sometimes they go to say somethin &they dont end up sayin it &talkin about things they should.she should have told dragon about magnus from the beginning.its irritating we had to wait the whole book for the truth to finally come out.&she nvr told dragon he felt from the beginning suspicious toward magnus.or about how scared she was when dragon almost died.
communication,people! say it with me.
cymbra stood trial before wolf&now rycca is before dragon.boy, shes reusing material.
she copied Dream of Me enough but to have rycca go to the punishment post is copy to the max.
sometimes in here the characters arrive at conclusions in an unrealistic way.like by magda bringing her food&blankets at the post, she realized dragon must have sent her2do it &that he was near the post.&she was calm cuz she knew dragon would find the truth.but that still doesnt change the fact that he thought you were guilty initially.
the characters were a lil inconsistent in their personalities &actions in the beginning.like he was deeply hurt &mad that she had run away, intending to not marry him&ruin the alliance,& that she gave herself to him not knowing he was her fiance.but after the marriage he does an about-face. they start sleeping together no problem &teasing each other&acting like they like each other.also, she gave up on the freedom thing pretty fast.i mean for someone who craved freedom,&didnt wanna marry a viking, she did a 360.
cant believe she didnt send word to her brother or that they didnt discuss his feelings about her running away or giving herself to her husband unknowingly when they're feelings were so raw about it in the beginning.i waited the whole book for him to say it hurt or angered him,but he didnt.major disappointment! romance authors usually tie up loose ends &always discuss things like that.so idk why she didnt.
"skald-souled" & "skald-skilled" were words i didn't know. i assumed skald-souled meant drunk, but idk skald-skilled at all.
dragon shared girls with magnus.thats disgusting.
&why would the author have dragon fight naked?!
i didnt like that at first it seemed like the only reason magda was bringing rycca blankets and food was because dragon made her.
the magnus thing happened too fast.&we didnt get to hear the full extent of why he did it.
also, idt it was necesary to kill him.
i hate that dragon hasnt acted like he did in Dream of Me at all.granted, its been years since ive read it,but he sounded like a loud, bellowing, storyteller.&in here,he isnt loud and fearsome.
rycca wasnt even mad or hurt that he thought she was guilty.
i was disappointed that the author didnt have anyone laugh or comment on how dragon&rycca said they loved each other.because it was funny.
i suspected she might be pregnant but rycca never mentioned she did too,&when she finally told us it was to say she had to find the right time to tell him.
i love what hawk said about krysta having friends in high&low places.high like the ravens &low like the trolls.so cool!
i absolutely loved when they came to help dragon.its the 1st time shes really used a supernatural element in her books &im wondering why because its really cool&her three female characters are supernatural! however,it lasted no time &the fight was over.
what are wolf&dragons real names?i couldnt believe when i heard they werent there real names.has litton ever said what they are?
i dont like that dragon ended up finding out about the baby, ruining her chance of telling him herself.
overall, good book.i was disappointed about some things, and i didnt like it near as much as i did believe in me,but it was still good&ill probably buy it to go along with Dream of me/believe in me.

This is the third book in this series (and I think it is probably the last book in the series). The first two followed Wolf (a Viking lord) and Hawk (a Saxon lord) as they meet, marry and woe their brides (in that order). This book follows Wolf’s brother, Dragon (another Viking lord) and his bride Rycca (a Saxon lady). These marriages were designed to bring peace between the Norse and Saxon’s.

Like the other two marriages, it doesn’t start off well. Rycca is running away from her family and the marriage. Dragon is having some alone time at Hawk lodge in the woods outside Hawkforte. They meet up but neither with tell the other their real names. Dragon wants to help Rycca, but Rycca still manages to get away again. The marriage starts off with a lot of distrust between these two people. And like the other books there is still danger. There are people who don’t want the Norse and Saxon’s to unite and they are working in underhanded ways to prevent this. So the book follows these goings on and we watch Dragon and Rycca work through their difficulties. We do get to see Wolf and Cymbra and Hawk and Krysta again a couple times in the book and it is nice to see the friendship between the ladies.

I loved this series. I had never read anything by this author before, but I plan to read the rest of her books as well now. I loved all the characters. I don’t know which is my favorite couple. Even the bad guys are written well. You know who not to trust, but you can’t quite figure out all the details.

This is the book that started it all for me! I bought it in a book store not realizing what I had picked up. I simply read the summary on the back and thought I would give it a try. Oh my goodness, was I in for a shock! Although it is the last in a the series, it was the first one I read.

The book is amazing!!! It has mystery, romance, and comedy. There were times I had to start laughing and then caught myself because I was on the bus. Then there were times when my face turned beet red (shocking considering that I am dark-brown complected). I had no idea I was reading a romance novel. Ms. Litton is very keen on the words that she uses to draw your imagination in to what she is conveying in the story. You feel what the characters are feeling (YES, even in those scenes); you know what they are thinking; and most importantly you understand the character and why.

I grew up reading the classics, so this book was way out of the norm for me. You can imagine my surprise whenI came across my first sexual scene in the book. But the way she writes would draw me in and hold my attention the same way, the classics would. I always go back to reading this book at least once a year.

After I finished, I started reading her other books and other books within romance genre. Now, I am hooked!!!!

4 1/2 stars! This 3rd book in the trilogy wrapped the series up nicely.

Dragon and Rycca were a great couple, two strong characters who sizzled when they were with each other. I love that they went back to Dragon's homeland and we got some time with Wolf and Cymbra from Dream of Me. The whole Viking theme was new for me and it was very enjoyable. These boys really liked their sauna and when they spent time in there with their ladies...well...it created a whole different kind of heat! Good times! Got to find me some more Norsemen...they make awesome H's.

Rycca was dum. He grabs her&shes gaspin&fightin pain, showin signs of weakness that Im sik of. its wen he called her a fool&shes admirin his voice&looks&thinkin hes the most handsum man shes evr seen that I got mad. &she kiks him&then hesitated, “batlin the suden, ovrwhelmin need 2 help him.” I felt like throwin the bk down.

By the length of his stride, he had run as fast as a bat out of hell..
Idt they had that expression.

The small sak of food she had carried w/her lay wer she had abandoned it wen she fled from the golden giant. Wut a foolish way 2 think of him! Clearly, fatigue had disordered her thoughts. He was mirly a man&a damd inconvenient 1 at that. Besides, she had no reason 2 think of him at all. Even if he had wanted 2 flw her, she had 2 qikly&2long. He was far bhind, sumwher in the woods, perhaps still cursin her but not destined 2 cross her path evr agin.
Mors the pity.
She raised a slanted brow&scowled. Wut imp of mischif put such wywrd notions in2 her por hed? Tru, she was dog tired, but that was no excuse 4 such foolishness. She had imp. matters 2 consider, her whol life 4 1&how she was goin 2 mange it. Ther was nither time nor energy 2 b moonin ovr a man.
The most handsum man she had evr seen.
Wtf is wrong w/u? The guy grabbed&ur thinkin about his looks? y wud u want instant attraction? Thers no appeal 2 it, esp wen the d.a. cant stop admirin him wen hes chasin her.

how Dragon adord women was disgustin. I thought I was gonna throw up. Ive nvr had an author hav the man fawn ovr women&it was 2 fem, havin the ferocus Dragon i was led 2 expect bas. fall 2 his knees in worship of women, wut w/the “women wer the greatest of the gods consid. accomp., the best gift, the most marv. dlight that cud b bstowd upon the earth&upon man, includin his own luky self. Women wer soft&strong, they smeld good&had beguilin smils, they gav life&made it cont 4 sumthin. In bed, out of bed, he dlited in them. Old, yung, in btwn, he found ther presence a constant sorce of comfort&enjoyment.”
Uh, ew.

Rycca falls off the cliff cuz shes runnin like an idiot&Dragons lukin 4 broken bons, &her 4hed is bleedin&shes unconsus&hes noticin her curvs&“odly tremblin” as he duz so. Is that the best time 2 notic her curvs? I mean, rly. ppl think its a btryl if the man duznt imm luv her, not thinkin how it cums off that hes admirin an unconsus stranger.

It was gettin on my nervs. hes the most handsum man shed evr seen. Truth. The most handsum man shed evr seen. Truth. Handsum man. Truth.

Wurs, his voice ripld thru her, settin off odd lil shivers at the same time as it made her feel strangely content.
Accord., she met the warriors gaze sqarly, ignord the strang flutterin of her hart,&snarld,“Get awy from me.”
Wth is goin on hir? U wer so afraid of him u jumped off a cliff, “new warriors” that wer “ruf, crud men who took wut they wanted w/o thought but the satisfaction of ther own urgs” yet ur feelin a flutterin in ur hart?

He smiled&wen he did . . . oh, sweet heven. This was so unfair. He was by far the most compellin man she had evr seen, that was truth she cud no longer deny. But wen he smiled he undid her cmpltly. She had 2 battle the sudden, mad urg 2 giv him nethin&everythin he mite desir.
WTH?!

She kept makin ref. 2 the fate she had run from, &Dragon had a fate he was hesitant about, so I put 2gethr they had ben ordered 2 mery. She wud nvr cum out &say it, like it was a surprise she dint want 2 giv awy, but I gesd it from the start.

“Do u think the lady who ob. cums 2 this place wud apruv of my usin her things even if she is so foolish as 2 leave them here&unlokd?”
how nice. Ask 2 use her stuff &call her foolish all in the same sent.

Rycca is the typical babyish woman that authors utilize 2 mak the men appear nice, bcuz they hav2const. comfort. Rycca is weak&he has 2 cary her. She falls&he has 2 cary her. She has a nitmar&he has 2 cradle her. That isnt romance. Thats a parent carin 4 a baby.
&of cors, she has 2 hav this tragic w/nitmars, bcuz a normal life w/no prob is ovrated.
“NOOOOO!”
She struk out desper., hammerin aginst Dragons chest, tears streamin down her pale cheeks.
Im sik of women flyin off the handle&beatin the guy. Its ridic. bcuz she had just ben clingin 2 him, “her hed burrowed aginst his chest as tho she was tryin 2 shut out all the world.” How do u go from clingin to sum1 2 beatin them? &who even has a nitmar that maks them beat the crap out of the person that comforts them? Aside from bein stupid&embarrassing, its pathetic.
Ppl wonder y women r seen as the weaker sex. Its crap like this. Hek, sum women want 2 mak themselvs weak, so men can coddle them. It maks me ashamed 2 b in the sam grup. Shes gaspin, screamin, chokin, her eyes wide open.. can she display 1 mor sign of wkns? &then, wen she cums out of her terrorized stupor, she realizes, agin, that shes bin held, &she looks at him, &then just drops in2 sleep. Wth kind of insanity is this? y dont u strap her in a diper &hav him change it?

That the dream had cum did not surprise her 4 it alwys did wen she was esp tired, in pain, or frightened.
Way 2 cover ur bases ther.

Truly, he cud not ber 2 c a woman in distress.
She sed plese. That undid him. He hated 2 deny women.
Wut is up w/hat? Boy, my expectation of the “firce” Dragon is bein undun. Wut man rly cares wen a woman cries? Hes way 2 soft 4 my likin.

I luv how authors hav women b virgins. the 1st time she kisses Dragon shes usin her tung. wut “innocent” nos 2 do that? U hav her no nothin, or u hav her no. U cant hav it both ways&this instinct crap duznt fly.
Its mor ridic, wen on like the 3rd day sine shes met him, she gets up in the mornin&decides 2 seduc him. How, u ask, can a virgin seduc sum1? Well, Litton has made her virgin cum w/the knowledge of just how 2 go about it. Its uncany.

She was surprised that she had no doubts. She wud hav expected sum had she evr anticipated such a moment. Yet ther was no uncertainty in her.

But how 2 begin? She had nvr tuchd a man sav 4 occasional affectionate cufin in Thurlows direction. &4that kiss.

But now the inititive was hers, nvr mind that she had only the vagest notion wut 2 do w/it.

Rycca kisses him while he’s sleepin, runs her hand ovr his arm&then starts runnin her hands down his thighs. Wow. Ther just arnt words.
At the bottom of his tunic, she hesitated. It wud be oh, so isy 4 her 2 ese up the garment & . . . her cheeks flamd. That wud b shckngly bold.

How can u hav her tuch him like that wen she “only had the vagest notion wut 2 do w/it?” No, that isnt vage. That isnt vage at all.
Rycca takes her dress off, grabs his hand&puts it on her brest&my mind is screamin slut! Shes supposed 2 b a virgin that duznt do nethin. U sed it, I dint say it. So havin established that u proceed 2 hav her just “no” 2 tak her dress off &put his hand on her brest. No virgin wud do that. If u dont no wuts gonna happen, then u wudnt do that.

He had a stor of sensual mem. upon wich 2 draw but did not seem 2 b doin so. He shud hav ben reclinin on a silken coch enjoyin the sublime skils of a butiful houri as he had in Byzantium. The Circassian, perhaps, the 1 w/the flame-red her, or the Nubian who had trained as a gymnast &cud . . .
WTF? thats disgustin. That isnt makin him appealin&we get it, he’s a connoisseur of women. u dont hav 2 slam it in ther.

She completely rushed the sex. They shud not hav ben 2gether so soon&it ruined it. I rly hate wen authors abandon propriety. Women dint jump men aftr nowin them mere dys, unles they wer whors. So, congrats, u just created 1.

Dragon inhaled deeply, summonin control from the deepest reches of his bein. In the perfumed chambers of Byzantium, he had studied arts unnon 2 the ordin. run of men. His diligenc then had seemed 2 hav no grater purpus than dallince; now he thought othrws.
thats enuf. How am I sup. 2 like him wen he kips snapin bak 2 the past 2 fondly rmbr hors? Its makin me disgusted&I want 2 slam the bk down.

Wen Dragon refused 2 hav sex w/her, she decides to seduce him. She proceeds 2 act like a whor&the author, realizin how improbable it is 2 hav Rycca act like experienced wen shes not, has her hav the memory of cing cuples 2gethr. Except her mem. is of a short interlude she compars 2 matin horses. She thought it was fast, w/o ne beauty or feelins..so y did she want 2 hav sex? She jumped him, forcin things the whol way. Idk wuts romantic about makin the guy sleep w/u. &idk y u wud want 2 hav sex w/sum1 wen u hav 2 throw them down &plac ther hands on u. Thers nothin likable about a bold woman. She mitve ben goin 4 a warrior woman, but she missed it by a country mile. Havin him call her warrior woman isnt enuf; she has 2 liv up 2 it.

It was rly stupid wen imm. after havin sex she says “truly, she was a fool, 4 only now did she realize wut she mite well hav thought of sooner but had not—her valu had just bcum as nonexistent as her maidenhed.

Its funy how Dragon wants 2 marry her afterward. I dont beleve it, that she’s special 2 him in ne way except 4 the sex she gav him. It was just 1 mor interlud 4 him, &wen he sed she was “the most exqisitely sensual woman he had evr met” I was like srsly? How is she the most sensual woman? Wut did she do aside from forc him 2 hav sex? &is she rly mor sensual than the accomplished courtesans he’d ben w/? Mor sensual than the women who he shared the joys of bed&body who made up in ardor wut they lakd in art? Mor sensual than the butiful houri on the silken couch in Byzantium? Mor sensual than the Circassian w/the flame-red her, or mor sensual than the Nubian who trained as a gymnast &cud…? I dont c the attraction in bei w/a man that has sexual memories he looks bak that wasnt w/u.

My suspicion was confirmed on pg. 94, wen I found out Rycca &Dragon wer engaged. I wish it had ben a surprise.

The scene that played out wen she ran awy, &ran in2 her dad&brother, who was about 2 wip her, &dint mind killin her if she wasnt a virgin, was ridic. He catches up 2 her in the nik of time.

Bad enuf that she had fled from a marrige ment 2 mak peace, how much worse that she had given the virginity that ritly belonged 2 her husband 2 a man she beleved a stranger. He must think her a coward, selfish, uncaring&a wanton w/o a scrap of morals.
Yep. Wut a luvly character u’ve created hir.
&hes just as bad. He let a woman hav sex w/him wen he was supposed 2 marry another. Theyre equly at falt.

So he had lain w/his wife b4 the lodg, in that star-lit nite of passion beyond his imaginin.
he considers that qik interlud, the 1 wher ther wer barely ne muvments, no details, barely ne extra tuchin, passion beyond his imaginin? How amusing. “He who had pleased uncounted women” thinks that was passionate. the author says hes ben w/all these women, but has that jok of the sexual act b his most passionate interlude.

“U may think u call the tun now but Im not about 2 b insulted by the likes of u.”
I c a revison of “call the shots” has taken plac. Changin it 2 “call the tune” in no way made that acceptable.

How els 2 explain how a man who adord women—&who was adored by them—found himself w/a bride who faced the marriage bed w/less enthusiasm than she wud a viper-infested den?
Yeh, that whol adoring women thing? Its creepy. &old.

Dragon protested that Delilah wasnt rly so bad, she was merly tryin 2 help her own ppl, which led on 2 the story of Esther. Dragon had herd that 1 but not the 1 about Ruth, which he thought an excellent ex. of the courage&sacrifice of women. The 3 men, 4 inevitably Hawk bcam involvd, argued about Salome, w/Dragon insistin she cudnt hav possibly ben that bad, altho not even he cud find a good word 2 say about Jezebel.
Wow, the adoration Dragon has 4 women extends 2 evil biblical women. He dint hav a prob w/ Delilah, who sold Samson out 4 $. he proceeds 2 stik up 4 evry other woman mentioned, except 4 Jezebel. Im surprised she had him find a prob w/a woman. Cuz he just adors them.

“How can Rycca possibly b presented 2 ur ppl if she isnt properly garbed?”
“Well . . . I nvr act. thought about—”
“Dragon, I’m surprised at u! U no women so well, how cud u hav overlooked sumthin so vital?”
Ok, we get it. He’s a man whor. Lets muv on.

Rycca was a d.a. I hav no other words. Dragon is cmpltly ignorin her; he dint look at her or talk 2 her b4, durin, or aftr the weddin. &she, in bed, is excited&nervus. Do u rly think hes gonna sleep w/u after wut u did? Expectin that is stupid enuf, &then the next day Krysta mentuns that Rycca needs a wardrob &asks if she wants 2 mak Dragon proud, &the idiot wants 2!
She gos on 2 admir his body&keeps lookin at him, &even asks him ?s wen hes still ignorin her. U dont talk 2 sum1 thats ignorin u.
&shes stil havin her flashbaks, wen she c’s his ships&wen he brings out his belt. Its rly annoyin.
&the she spurts out this paragraph thats 2 sad-sak.
“Its only an excuse, thats all, just a pretens 4 hurtin. u despise my father, rightly so, but he alwys did the same. Rycca, u r disrespectful. Rycca, u look rebellious. Rycca, u did not obey qikly enuf. Rycca, ther is sumthin wrong w/u. Unless he was drunk, of corse, then he did not bother w/excuses. Do u get drunk, my lord? Shud I no such times wil be partic bad?”
Milk that 4 all its worth.

Wen they get 2 his homland, evrybody quiets down wen they c her, so his grand solution is 2 put her on his hors, the 1 only he can ride, which duznt mak sens bcuz he duznt like ridin horses neway, so y wud he b the only 1 that can ride them? Evrybody starts cheering. Rightt. His own warriors hav tried 2 ride them, but theyve all gotten thrown. Isnt that sumthin?
“Maybe if they’d ben afraid of hits, they wud hav held on titer.”
Rycca laughs. was that a joke? I missed it.

Rycca balled her fists&took great pride in the fact that she refrained from doin the huzzies bodily harm.
Did u rly use the word huzzies?

Dragon did a lot of carryin,&Idt men pikd up ther wives&carried them around in public. He piks her up &carries her 2 the horse, placin her on it. He piks her up&carries her up the sters. He piks her up in the hall, in front of every1, &carries her 2 his home. Thats annoying, like she’s 2 delicate 2 walk on her own.

“He had sum grudge aginst all of womanhood. Who nos the workin of such a disordered mind?”
U wud call that a disordered mind, wudnt u?

Ther he was, possessor of wut amounted 2 sev. lifetime’s worth of most plesant memories of the fer sex, made 2 feel a green boy by his own bride.
Omd.

Its the hight of insanity how she had Rycca b unabashed as shes havin her way w/Dragon, yet on the 2nd time, wen he wants sex w/her, she’s all shy.

Rycca had ben wantin 2 hav sex,&suddenly shes nervus, then they get in this fite that was in no way concluded, but they just hav sex. Wtf?

How cud she do other than fall completely under his spell, 4get her own dreams, &bcum just 1 mor in wut was no doubt a vry long line of simpering females grateful 4 his merest attention?
She shivered in pur revulsion.
“Rycca . . .?”
“A sudden chill.”
I think it’s 2 late 2 b worryin about that, but that’s a realistic reaction. Revulsion is wut u shud feel wen ur husband has slept w/countless women b4 u. &y not let him no? don’t hide it from him. She then proceeds 2 cuddle aginst him, worryin that he wants 2 hav sex w/her wen she wants 2 go 2 sleep, but they end up havin sex neway. This kind of character maks ppl stop readin.

Im noticin patterns that wer in the other book. Its like all she nos about life bak then is that wen the woman married she got 2 run the manor&gets the keys 2 the kitchen. U cant do the same things in evry bk. Its borin &repetitious. Think of sumthin new.

Just as qikly he removed her gown, promptin the nawin thought that he was vry adept at dispensin w/womens garments.
Wtf

Im sik of women bin unable 2 swim, but w/him shes imm. great.

The phrase down-to-earth probly wasnt coined in the middle ages.

“Besides, Dragon is the 1 who was alwys good w/women.”
Is ther a quota u hav 2 reach?

He had nown the services of concubines so skilled that they bosted they cud bring a man 2 madness.
Hes married now;u can quit the sordid comments.

How cud he, who had alwys treated women w/the utmost consid.&gentles, hav dun such a thing?
How nice. He was gentle w/his hord of women, but w/Rycca hes ruf, bcuz he needs her. Im gonna b sik.

On both counts it was clear that Dragon dint bleveher gifts. Wen the boy was accused of theft &wen they talked about it in bed later that nite, he sed the gift she thought she had. He dint bleve her, yet d.a. Rycca dint notice. She shud hav ben hurt but shes alwys busy admirin his looks &thinkin about him 2 do nethin els.

He, who had loved so vry many women, loved the fire-herd warrior woman who ran like the wind&saled over clifs.

Rycca has ben suspicious of Magnus sinc the 1st. She nos hes lyin 2 her, &insted of tellin Dragon, she just duznt. Nothin can occupy her hed 4 long except sex &Dragons good looks. Yes, thats a quality of a warrior woman.

Whn he falls off his hors, he discovers burrs under the blanket &act. suspects Rycca. Wth wud giv him that idea? Wut a shitty husband. Wen the spices r stolen from the cabinet, Dragon basically accuses her, &she duz nothin. She dint even react, like shes 2 stupid 2 notice wen shes bein accused. Dragon so easily bleved the boy dint steal the cup, but suspects Rycca of tryin 2 hurt &leavin her key lyin around. He thinks she set the fire&insted of bein hurt, she asks him wut he intends 2 do about it, &she goes in2 his arms. Wtf?
Then he says his wife, who dint luv him. he only realized he “loved” her a short time ago, &dint tell her.

She uses yet another plot idea from the previous books. Just like Cymbra, Rycca is accused &must stand trial&her husband oversees it.
“U hav no explanation?” He was frownin, &4 just an instant she felt a spurt of sympathy 4 him.
U felt sry 4 him bcuz hes frownin? Hes frownin whil hes askin u ?s whil u strand trial, by him, & u feel sry 4 him.

He was snatchin at straws.
Changin it 2 snatchin duznt mak it hist. accurate.

Dragon dint bleve her gift or her bein unconsus, yet grasps the thiry that Magnus is at falt, bcuz she looks at him. The author, realizin how betrayin it was 2 hav him treat her so, tried 2 mak it btr, but it wasnt, bcuz he dint blev her. He was fully intendin 2 punish her. &Rycca cums 2 the realization that Dragon wil blev her, that he sent Magna ther &that hes watchin.

Ppl find the body of a man w/the serpent tattoo &thinks: In the dark of nite of his sol, he had battled doubt&chosen 2 beleve in her, &now he was fircly glad of it. Yet this confirmation of his trust was deeply welcum all the sam.
Confirmation of his trust?

4 about the 4th time sinc startin this atrocity of a romance, I wanted 2 slam it down. Y creat a scene that shud hav ben full of emotion&not use it? After bein released from the post, she answers all his ?s, joks about bein tied up, compars herself 2 a goat, &kisses him, sayin he did wut he had 2 do. Wut a da.

Let it nvr b sed he refused a perfectly reasonable reqest from a lady. Or, indeed, failed 2 fulfil it w/alacrity.

Starin at the man he had known sinc boyhood—the man he had fought bside, gotten drunk w/, &, truth b told, shared the occasional woman w/--he struggled 2 understand.

Starin off in2 space is hist. inacurate.

The endin was depressin. She talked about a dust mote &ther desendants, which was sad. I wanted 2 end on a hapy note.

All I know about history I learned from romance novels.

That’s not really true, but who knew people were so clean in the days of Vikings. Plus, the Vikings in Josie Litton’s Viking series all seem to have saunas. These are clean Vikings, not the dirty ones you see on television.

It’s time for Rycca, aka Super I-Hear-the-Truth Girl’s book, Come Back to Me. This is Josie Litton’s third installment in this series, and she has redeemed herself. Just for the record, I liked the first book and third book in the series, not so much the second.

Rycca is running away; she doesn’t want to marry the Viking her family is forcing her to marry. She hatesssssss dirty Vikings; she doesn’t know about the sauna. She disguises herself as a boy, one of my least favorite themes, and traipses off to Normandy – or tries to traipse. Her plan is to sneak on board a ship and then try to find her twin brother. Sounds suspiciously like a Romanceland plan.

Dragon Hakonson is also strolling around the countryside. He’s delaying his return to his brother’s stronghold because Dragon is about to be married. What do you think the chances are that Rycca and Dragon are going to cross paths? Dragon is a different kind of Viking, he likes women. Oh, not in the kidnapping, raping, pillage kind of Viking way; he’s more of an Alan Alda kind of Viking. He respects women and he will go to great lengths to protect them if he thinks they need his help. He’s just not in any hurry to tie the knot. Then he crosses paths with the boy who turns out to be a girl. Because Dragon is the helpful, honorable kind of Viking, he insists that he take Rycca to her boat safely. Rycca hides her true identity from Dragon. She has a few trust issues. As the two embark on their road trip, they become romantically involved. Friendship blossoms, trust on both sides appears. Then they discover that they are in fact betrothed to each other. They are not happy campers, at least for a while.

Dragon and Rycca worked as a romance couple. Dragon was an alpha male with a soft spot for women. He liked being around them and he loved being with Rycca. He knows Rycca is in some kind of trouble. He knows she is hiding something from him and he uses oodles of charm trying to find out what. As they continue on their road trip, they become close. Eventually the truth about Rycca’s problems become known and they work together to find a solution.

All the characters from the other two books make an appearance, each trying to solve the continuing mystery from the other books. Sometimes the appearance of characters from other books is irritating, but in this one they add to the narrative. Besides that, it was a pleasure to see them again. The villains are exposed and all is right with the world.

Josie Litton’s Viking series ends on an up note. I believe this was my favorite of the three and I do recommend Come Back to Me. It’s been a pleasure reading Josie Litton, aka Maura Seger, once again.

Rycca wasted no time in trying to get away from the man whom was holding on tightly to her.
Using the knowledge her twin brother taught her she did the only thing left she could and raised her wee knee.
It took Dragon a while before he found the boy all he really wanted was to talk as he tried to reassure that was all he intended was to talk.
Expect he was a she; Dragon couldn't believe he'd been so blind that he missed it the first time.
However now that he knew he had a hard time understanding why a girl her age was alone and unguarded.
Rycca knew she should leave but nothing seemed to go as she planned.
Dragon had planned to spend some quality time by himself before his up coming wedding to his
bride.
However here was with a beautiful spirited girl and things were fast approaching the point of no return. And then timber.
Unfortunately things taken a different turn as secrets come to light but Dragon won't accept anything but yes.
Rycca didn't which embarrassed her more her brother who thought all women were there for his amusement or her father who would have done anything to have seen her wedding not happen because he didn't personally profit from it and never wanted a man like Dragon for a son-in-law.
There trip to his home took them near the coast of Normandy but she couldn't swim.
Life in her new came with many challenges especially when it appears someone is trying to undermine her at every turn and when she's blamed and punished for a fire she didn't start.
Okay so he had to admit he might have come up with a better plan only meant to prove his wife innocent.
For some reason things always ended back at her father's door she knew he never wanted the alliance to work an that he'd pay any price to see it all fail.

This is the story of Dragon Hakonson, brother to Lord Wolf (Dream of Me) who has gone to Hawkforte to meet up with his arranged Saxon bride to further cement the alliance between the Norse and King Alfred. Rycca of Wolscroft, the the 2 heroines of the previous stories, that of being able to always discern truth. She has hidden this from all except her twin brother, especially her evil father and older brothers who hate the Danes and the Norse. Rycca fears her betrothal, based on living through a Danish raid as a child and what she's heard at home. She flees and attempts to make her way to her twin in Normandy by way of Hawkforte. She's caught by Dragon and attempting to escape him, falls over a cliff. Dragon takes her to a hut owned by Hawk to recuperate. They make love and then Rycca escapes again. Dragon again finds her - this time being beaten by her father and brother and then learns who she really is. They marry, but trust needs to be re-earned and love needs to be voiced. Rycca and Dragon do come to have a real marriage in Landesende but then things start happening to cast doubt on Rycca. The problems are then tied back to the events of the first two books. Good story, but tie ups are thrown in at the end and less convincing than other parts of the books.

Ooh, Viking romance at its best. I loved these characters. Dragon is a mouth-watering hero, nothing but kind and patient, powerful, gorgeous, controlled rather than controlling. The stuff of fantasies. Rycca is “a prickly little thing,” the product of her childhood and inner strength. Yes, she makes some mistakes, but I found them believable in the context of her past and personality. None of the misunderstandings were drawn out too long, and there was plenty of plot and intrigue to go with the romance. Great conclusion to the series. The longer story arc was tied up and wrapped in a poetic bow, complete with visits from the characters of the two previous books. This trilogy is best enjoyed when read in order. Will be looking for more Josie Litton.

I picked this book at random and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it. This was the first book I’ve read by this author and her writing is excellent. I love her wording skills and story telling ambience. I’ve become aware that this book is the third in a trilogy. I’m looking forward to reading the first two books. This book did stand on its own very well. Not knowing anything about the first two books, I was able to follow the storyline and the characters without any problems. I kind of felt like there was something missing between the two main characters. Call it chemistry or whatever, but I just felt like they didn’t have a very strong connection. It did get a little dull here and there but over all I liked this one.

This, the final book, was quite good, but not memorable. The MCs were fine indeed, but did not stand out in this book. Nothing, in fact, was particularly striking in this book. I felt no sense of anticipation at any point. Despite that it was a good read. I did skim on a number of occasions as descriptions seemed tedious and some courses predictable. However, there is no reason not to finish this very nice series.

I will try her other series soon.

This was my second favorite in the series, only behind Hawk and Krysta's story. I loved Rycca, and how can you not love Dragon? But...I really wanted MORE adventure. Less of them sitting at home and people showing up. If anything, these two seemed like a couple who would go out and have some tales to tell.

This is one of the best trilogies I have read in historical romance. The first book was my favourite, this was a close second. The middle book was good, just not quite as good IMHO. I will be keeping these on my re-read shelf. The author has some crazy talent in building the characters of her male leads...they are pretty close to perfection.

An excellent skald

I really liked this. The characters are so well-drawn that I didn't want their story to end. Period writing is quite challenging, and Josie Litton seems to have mastered it. There was nothing that took me out if this very charming adult fairytale.

The third and final book in the trilogy... I thoroughly enjoyed the series and this book. It does have adult content. I love books with a strong female lead and this and the rest have that.

I think I’m a fan of Josie Litten after reading these.

Found this book in a very old "to be read" pile of books. The writing is very well done & I really enjoyed all the characters. I have a few more Josie Litton books sitting here so I might just read the rest of her books that I own.

Historical medieval romance with a heroine who wanted her freedom more than anything else and a hero who secretly wished to fall in love ( for ever)....

The story was well paced and well told with paranormal bits, which I did not like much.

Awesome

Just as great as I remember. I searched to find these for years after my first read but couldn't remember anything but the character names wolf dragon and hawk. Glad this book was as good as I remembered.

This was a great book. I read it in less than a day after finished the first two books (Dream of Me/Believe in Me by Josie Litton).

The things I thought I could predict did not go as I assumed and for that - I loved it.
And of course, they all have a Happily Ever After.
