Welcome to Cinru Station, a derelict island in space on the edge of the perilous Delfrynn Drifts. The last place Captain Kelsey Ross ever thought she'd be trapped for the rest of her life. The last place she ever thought would be the center of a galactic rebellion! Destiny's Game is a novella set in the same universe as an upcoming anthology series, The Cinru Station Chronicles. In the tradition of the Thieve's World anthology series, but set in the galaxy's worst deep space station, the Chronicles promises a wallop of space opera adventure, political intrigue, science fiction, mirth and mayhem by some of the genre's best writers today! Included will be stories by award winning authors Elaine Corvidae and K.G. McAbee , and notable authors Jason Laseman, Phyllis Ann Welsh, Ann Aguirre, Joseph L. Shosty and Shawn Madison! The Cinru Station Chronicles, Vol. 1, debuts Jan 2003 from NBI.
Winner of the prestigious national book award, the RITA, science fiction romance author Linnea Sinclair has become a name synonymous for high-action, emotionally intense, character-driven novels. Reviewers note that Sinclair’s novels “have the wow-factor in spades,” earning her accolades from both the science fiction and romance communities. Sinclair’s current release is HOPE'S FOLLY and, scheduled for 2010 from Bantam Dell, REBELS AND LOVERS, book #4 in the Dock Five Universe. A former news reporter and retired private detective, Sinclair resides in Naples, Florida (winter) and Columbus, Ohio (summer) with her husband, Robert Bernadino, and their thoroughly spoiled cats. Readers can find her perched on the third barstool from the left in her Intergalactic Bar and Grille at www.linneasinclair.com .
It was fun to read a "new" work by Linnea Sinclair, who is probably my favorite sci-fi rom author. I'm not going to rate it because it's the start of a series that didn't happen after the original publisher closed down, so the story is unfinished. Originally a prequel novella, the story spends a lot of time presenting the the setting and workings of the space stayion in detail along with setting up the major conflicts, while also introducing the characters. There is some interaction between what I believe were to be the romantic couple in at least one future book, but it's safe to say it's an antagonistic relationship at this point.
As always Ms. Sinclair does a great job of worldbuilding. She's always thorough and consistent with the worlds, the customs, the language and the characters. I honestly wish this series had continued, because the set up is great.
I highly recommend Linnea Sinclairs published works, including Finder's Keepers, Games of Command and The Accidental Goddess for entertaining sci-fi romance with great worldbuilding.
Well, the book ended, but there was no ending to the story. I am very disappointed. I feel like I just read half a book and there is no 2nd half.... very frustrating, because I was involved in the story:/
