How she had dug herself into it, squeezed herself in, it was obvious how much she needed someone to hold her- strong, wide, and loving old arms. (After all- an armchair is always elderly.)
And now, as I’m writing, I feel against my top ribs the stone balustrade over which we both, god knows why, leaned terribly, to try to make out: the past? the future? or the present, being created within?
