First published in 1953, 'Timberjack' is a Western novel, although it is set in early 1950s Canada. The plot involves a son returning from University in response to an urgent demand for help from the foreman in his father's logging business. The setting and the background detail are so well done that they set this apart from the usual - it is a short novel by very enjoyable.
