I read this to cleanse my palate of all the supernatural/urban fantasy stuff floating around nowadays. I generally like Meagan McKinney's style and hadn't read this one yet. However, I am not liking it much at all. The heroine is TSTL with misplaced loyalties to a vigilante group and an obviously mentally ill friend who probably needs some medical attention.
The hero and heroine have zero chemistry other than a case of instant lust on the hero's part. The villian is just so obvious that our heroine knows within an instant of meeting him that he is a killer yet no one can figure it out. Plus the whole bit about this killer being the only "monogomist serial killer in history"...what?...look up the definition of "serial" please...
Add to that is the whole neon-orange lipstick plot device. My lipstick doesn't last past lunch. They are telling me that the lipstick on this murder victim was intact for five years??

In Claire’s pain she demonstrated such selfishness. Storyline was decent but several details left me puzzled. The ending…left me flat and a bit let down. Claire caused so much upset with her behavior yet it seemed it was swept under the rug. And if Liam ended another sentence with girl, I was going to scream. Took the masculinity right off of him in my opinion.

I found this book in a little "take one leave one" library in Greece. This is a romance/thriller - enemies to lovers. I enjoyed the energy between Claire and the FBI agent sent to find out more about her and what her organization is up to.

Such a page turner and I loved the FMC. The final standoff was a bit lacking but besides that, so so good.

I originally read this book when it first came out. I've always counted it among my favorite books. The subject matter of Claire's sister's death is heartbreaking and not for the faint of heart. But the story between Claire and Liam and their growing attractive for each other has always seemed just right to me. Liam is a hero in all his flawed beauty.

I liked some other books from this author but this one was not my cup of tea. It took me days to finish it. Mystery with not mystery in it. Romance was not felt much either. Strange things occur like parents keep reminded their murdered daughter by her twins sister, their other daughter. Twins` parents would know very well that they would never mistake their twins as each of them distinct to the parents like any siblings who are not twin siblings.
