Effective Grading
The second edition of Effective Grading--the book that has become a classic in the field--provides a proven hands-on guide for evaluating student work and offers an in-depth examination of the link between teaching and grading. I really like the way Barbara Walvoord writes about higher ed topics. She has an uncanny knack for making sneakily complex issues (like assessment, grading, etc.) seem so utterly simple. However, her making complex issues seem simple does not amount to an oversimplification. It's just that she works to give busy teacher-types the most user-friendly way to ENTER into these complex issues. It's up to us to grow our understanding in complexity from there. Kudos to Barbara Walvoord for her continued work in helping stubborn teachers find user-friendly ways to keep growing.

What a great, practical book. Wish I'd read it years ago. Highly recommended.
