Gram Seed, written off by family, neighbours, teachers and the police as a lost cause, his early life taking him through shoplifting, football hooliganism, multiple stabbings, beatings, alcoholism, drug addiction, homelessness and several jail sentences to a six-day coma. His autobiography, One Step Beyond, tells of his journey from despair and near death to hope, faith, salvation and redemption. Gram tells how following his miraculous recovery and rehabilitation and with the strength of his new-found faith he has established the Sowing Seeds Ministries. He shows those treading the same treacherous road he was travelling that there is a much better alternative. This story will hugely bless and encourage as it reminds us of God's amazing love and forgiveness, His desire and ability to change lives and the power of prayer.
Autobiographies are not meant to be smoothly written and pleasant reading. Nonetheless, this is an engaging and captivating tale of overcoming and rising from the depths. The power of God in some lies is truly palpable and moving. Gram Seed is not necessarily the type of person you would wish to have growing up next door to you, but as an adult, and after his transformation, he is the type of man you would wish for a friend.
When a prosecutor tries a case against someone in the underworld, she is forced to rely upon the testimony of other criminals, because no one else is in a position to witness the activity being prosecuted. God understands this and prepares those who are willing to answer His call from the same seamy environments. He gives the terrible experiences of homelessness and drug dependency to those whom He knows can ultimately rise above it, so when they are there to help someone with those struggles, such person can honestly relate and frankly state: "I know how you feel; I felt that way myself. Now, let me tell you what I found."
Gram Seed is a great example of God's mercy and His desire to reach out to all people in all circumstances. Gram is a reminder that God came for the sinners in our midst, because either the righteous don't need the help, or because they won't listen.
If anyone has heard of the ALPHA program, this is a great advertisement for the experience and the ability to draw closer to God and to learn more about Him.
A great story of a changed life. Gram starts off as a confused child whose father leaves his mother resulting in a rather disruptive childhood. He turns to petty crime, which becomes bigger and bigger, turning to fake designer wear, fighting, drugs and alcoholism. He goes from one jail to another going further and further downwards, losing touch with his family. He eventually ends up living on a park bench with nothing and no friends, hopelessly dependent on alcohol until falling into a coma and coming very close to death. A group of Christians who he first met on the park bench don't give up on him but pray for his healing. Gram becomes a changed man. Going back into the very prisons he was in to tell the prisoners there how God has changed his life and how there is only hope in Jesus. He gets married to Essex girl, Natasha. They have two little boys and then Gram sets up his ministry 'Sowing Seeds' bringing the message of love and hope to young prisoner and ex-offenders.
Autobiography of Graham Seed written in the raw. After finding Jesus he turns away from his life of crime, alcoholism and drugs to share his new faith with prisoners.
An amazing testimony to God and how He can change lives. Chapter 8 is very emotional and I needed quite a few tissues. Highly recommend to anyone who is searching for "that sonething" in their life.
I have had the pleasure of hearing Gram talk and he is a truly inspirational man, he has been through so much and has come out of the dark tunnel and is doing so much good now. an amazing man and an amazing book
