Excellent start to a new detective thriller series. Had my adrenaline going right to the last page. Solid characters and incredible storyline.

This is one to watch - and read of course .
I know it’s a short review but I’d give it 10 stars if I could.
This series is simply one of the best out there. Please give it a try.

“Great New Series!”
This is a new thriller series by one of my favourite thriller writers about Remy Fontaine a senior state trooper with the Louisiana State police in Barton Rouge and the book starts with Remy losing her partner and would be lover Max Partner or known to everyone as Max Pena who dies saving Remy. From the offset Remy never really gets over his death and blames herself for his death.
While attending his funeral Remy is approached by a Marcus Hurbert who heads and runs the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation “The Fugitive Apprehension Unit or LBI” Remy is offered a job within the unit and starts her first case assisting in bringing in a fugitive “Hector Salazar” who is part of a larger Human Trafficking Operation.
Her first case and introduction into the team is both engrossing and holds your attention throughout and gets your mind thinking. As the investigation develops at every turn people and witnesses get killed and it soon becomes apparent it is a much larger operation and somewhere within their own department or the FBI they have a mole feeding out vital information so that the Trafficking Operation and top bosses always one step ahead. With a great interesting read with lots of twists and turns plus a great ending. I wasn’t sure about Remy’s “easy lay” attitude at first which I didn’t quite get to grips with or fully understand but surmise because the loss of her partner whom she loved and with her troubled past and current mind she is finding it difficult to forget her grief and sees this as a release albeit a weakness.
I can’t wait to read the next instalment and I have been advised that we will learn much more about Remy and her flaws and the reasons behind her flawed past. All in all this is such a great book and I highly recommend it!

Remy gets a sideways promotion which she is not sure she deserves due to her losing a partner through a bad spontaneous decision but her new boss seems set on her surviving in his unit and smooths the way for her to prove she is worth the effort in bringing down a big time people trafficking operation where the kingpin is killing off anyone who can connect him. Despite some loose behaviour and more bad decisions they get the evidence and bring down the organisation supplying the money and logistics but the end leaves an ominous threat hanging over Remy.
Good characters and plot and plenty more to come it would appear.

Watch out for so called friends!

I enjoyed this book very much. I couldn’t wait to finish it and I thought I figured out who the mole was. Of course I was. Wrong. There were too many false clues. I didn’t like the agent falling in the bed with David. I know that people have a time with grief and loss, but all the things she did to receive forgiveness from loosing the man she loved is something she’lll never get over. She will go on to get her life in order and be a better agent.

Well-plotted and keeps you guessing

Remy Fontaine is a brilliant law enforcement officer who recognizes her own occasional flaws. She realizes that in carrying out her duties, she also affects those she comes in contact with in dangerous ways. She has a conscience, but is able to put aside her feelings to do the best job she can. Her work requires her to operate in a male-dominated field and she navigates that challenge well. Fast-paced and compelling, Last Seen holds you in suspense until its somewhat surprising conclusion.

3.5 stars.
I enjoyed Orleans Avenue. I thought the plot was good, a bit all over the place at times but it was wrapped up well. I really liked Remy’s character and hope we get to know her more in the coming books. I enjoyed the secondary characters and hope to learn more about them as we see Remy go forward in her career. I did enjoy the book and intend on reading book 2 and hopefully learning more about Remy in depth.

This book captures the reader with an excellently written story that is filled with emotions, hidden history, lies, and mystery. A great start to a series!!! I have enjoyed reading many books by Robin Mahle, and this one is not like her other books but in a really good way. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Action packed, fast paced thriller

Remy Fontaine has just transferred to the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation after ten years as a Louisiana State Trooper. She immediately gets caught up in a series of murders and risks her life trying to find the responsible person. This book will keep you reading late into the night.

This story has it all – lost love, intrigue, violence, twists and turns, self doubt and some hot sex! Remy Fontaine is a senior trooper in the Louisiana State Police and following the loss of her partner in a gunfight, she realises her feelings for him and after being headhunted, she leaves the State police for a position with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation – the LBI, in the Fugitive Apprehension Unit
There the story evolves and with a mentor, Alex Chasse in the LBI Remy is tasked to apprehend one Hector Salazar who always seems a jump ahead of them as they pursue this female kidnapper and trafficker. It seems the LBI are not the only ones wanting to catch up with Salazar, his boss who knew nothing of the latest kidnapping of a state Senator’s daughter has others looking for Salazar as well. This brings in to the story some interesting twists and turns with a traitor within the ranks of the law enforcement agencies coming to light. As the pursuit unfolds, Alex and Remy find that their movements also seem to be anticipated leading them to look out for their very own traitor.
A very good read where the reader is able to identify with Remy Fontaine.

Last Seen

Fantastic read and characters, storyline was great. A cop helping catch a guy who was into human trafficking as well as more. The department finally out they had a mole in their department. A lot of murders. You’ll need to read to find out who turns out to be the mole, I think you might be surprised . A definite must read

Not a bad read. The self-destructive path of the main character grew a little thin after a while but it died off a bit near the last third of the book. I also thought that the other characters in the book (with the exception of Alex) felt a bit wooden. We don’t really get to know much about them. Having said that, it is the first of the series so we may get more as the series progresses.

Being the first book series of Remy Fountain, I felt the story was excessive, unrealistic and it degraded Remy as a woman and a agent. The whole story was an overdone show of the hunters (agents) becoming the hunted. To me this was a real train wreck of a story that should of been a great thriller.

Ok not fantastic...

I recommend this book. I read it over weeks not hours or even days. I read other books in between, thus the delay in finishing it, but enjoyed it enough to read the next in the series. Others may love it, I just didn't....

Last

This is the last of this writer I will try. If you like both profaning of that which is sacred to countless people and vulgar language, go for it. I think there is good literature elsewhere.

Good read

Very enjoyable story. A little hard to follow some of the characters. Remy came across as a better cop. She lost some of her self assurance when she decided to switch jobs.

Wow! What a great story. I was caught in the first page. Did not want to put it down. Remy is one of a kind detective. She analyzes every detail and studies it with precise scrutiny. I loved how she works tirelessly to get her thoughts and ideas in motion. A must read.

Not sure

I've been hooked on the Reid series so I figured I'd try another one of Mahle series and I am not sure. This one seems a little disorderly but hopefully as the books continue things will settle in.

Not quite sure

I happen to like Ms. Mahle's writing very much. I am not sure about the main character of this story. Someone who jumps in bed with anyone she meets is not my cup of tea. Many questions were left unanswered; what happened to David?

Orleans Avenue

I would give this book a 4.5! The plot starts out slow but quickly ramps up speed so fast it starts to confuse you. The ending comes as a total surprise! A real fun read!

Let down

I read to the part where you find out she's a liar then stopped. Not the kind of character you want to continue reading.

Good book

I found it very interesting and yet a bit confusing with all the different police department involved. The female lead needs either a main in her life or a cat.
