Being left at the altar once was enough for high-powered, workaholic exec Stacey St. Cyr. Stacey's supposed to be on vacation at a posh spa. Instead she's stuck in Doolittle, Arkansas-population next-to-nothing -- watching sexy, small-town pet doctor Michael Halliday work his magic on her colicky collie. And all Stacey can think of is how nice it would be to have Michael's gentle, talented hands on her. This is crazy! He's rural, she's Big City; she's all-business, he's laid back. And if his two young daughters don't warm up to the sexy go-getter, there'll be BIG trouble for this single dad. Still, if he can get Stacey to relax and learn to live a little, perhaps he can follow where his heart is leading him -- and enjoy this tangled, messy, sweet thing called love.
Hailey North is a USA Today bestselling author who began writing while employed as a “game show lawyer” for NBC Studios. Tired of hearing lawyers weren’t creative, she quit her job and typed “Chapter One” (not the chapter, just the heading!). Since that day, North has penned eleven romantic comedies, set in her adopted hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana, in her favorite imaginary town, Doolittle, Arkansas, and in her very own version of Purgatory. Her three-book “afterlife” series (The Diva, The Billionaire and The Hero) celebrates creative, but accidentally dead, characters trying their darnedest to win a second chance at life. North lives in Louisiana with her husband, her food-centric Labrador Shelby, and her three kindred spirit felines, Ali Kat, Rosa Pax, and Max the Cat Who Thinks He's a Dog. This was a good book. I liked the concept and the characters and, of course, the writing. The first half was a lot better than the second half though, in my opinion. There was a ton of build up leading to a giant let down. At that point, I was just bored with the story and how long it was taking to get to certain turning points that I just didn't care anymore. The last chapter or 2 was pretty good though, I'll give it that. When all is said and done, I'm still happy I chose to reread this one.
This book was so cute! It was one of those feel good books, without -gasp- any massive misunderstandings, gratuitous quarrels between the hero and heroine. PLUS, it had lot's of fuzzy animals and the hero was a vet! It was very well written and just darn sweet. All the characters were totally realistic and perfectly relatable. I enjoyed this book quite a bit. :)
It was OOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooook... I really din't enjoy because this similar to an other book i read. "And Then He Kissed Me" by Patti Berg.. Nothing different or special. Couldn't go on and i got really bored. Its as if the Doc was naive... and the heroine was... can't even describe her. So not much to say other than not liking it.
This was a cute book. It was an easy read. I started it in the morning and finished it by the time I went to bed, I tried putting it down and found it diffucult. Not a heavy book and very light subject matter. The characters were good and I did want it to keep going.
