I spent hours reading this book on a picnic blanket at a small park in beautiful Colorado Springs, in the shade of a tree, with a soft breeze blowing. While my baby slept in her carseat and I waited for 3:00PM to come so I could go get the kids from school. I'm not sure what was better...... the setting, or the book...... but I came away wanting to make sure Kent knows I love him for who he is, and that everything is what we make it, including marriage. It's been 3 days and I still feel like a giddy school girl when I see him.

This book has potential but it wasn't for me. I've read a few marriage books but this one won't be included on my list of recommendations.

The best part of the book are the suggestions at the end that offer practical examples of living out the theme of that chapter. However, I'm not sure that alone makes the book worth purchasing.

Even though the book is 212 pages long, the appendix takes up 72 pages of it. The rest of the book is comprised of very short chapters that don't go into much detail. Then there are "focus points" at the end of each chapter. Why? The chapters were too short to require focus point, especially when they are copied and pasted from the actual chapter.

I typed out a few insights from the book but they were all quotations from other authors or books.

It is a good practical application of different ways to bless our spouse. I appreciated the practical application bullet points at the end of each chapter. Each chapter also ends with further reading, scripture, application prayers, a blurb from a husband about his wife's blessing, and a recap of the chapter. All in all, a good set-up for a girl's Bible study.

This book gives practical advice for strengthening your marriage. What I really like are the Scriptures prayers for your marriage and for your husband at the end of each chapter along with practical suggestions and further resources.

I just finished this book for a ladies book study through my church. It was mediocre at best. The author has good writing skills--she definitely has that going for her--but most of the content seemed fluffy and rooted in a Christian version of psychology more than the Bible. She very rarely mentioned the word sin. She quoted a number of authors, including Catholic saints and monks. Why?!?!?!?! They are no authority on Christian marriage. I can see this book being a good starting point for discussion, as it was for the ladies at my church, but there are many more biblically-grounded, Christ-exalting marriage books that I would rather spend my time reading.
