I credit my interest in writing romance to my grandmother. She gave me my first Harlequin to read during the hot summer days I spent on my grandparent's acreage in rural Oklahoma.

Immediately I was hooked!!!

Over the years, I would pick up a pen and write down ideas, but it wasn't until I joined Romance Writers of America and then Oklahoma Romance Writers did I become serious. During that time, I completed eight novels.

The first two will never, ever see the light of day. In fact, I should probably destroy these so no one accidentally reads them! Around my third book, I joined a critique group and began to really study the craft of writing.

From there I entered entered several writing contests. In March 2003, one part of my writing dreams came true when I finaled in the Golden Heart.
In late 2000, I learned I placed Honorable Mention in Harlequin's Blaze contest, and began corresponding with the editor who bought my first book. I also won a writing round robin on eHarlequin, which was loads of fun!

On December 18, 2003, I got "The Call" from Harlequin. Actually, my answering machine received the privilege. My seventh novel, Never Naughty Enough was published as a Harlequin Temptation Heat. My sixth novel, Share the Darkness, will be published in April of 2006

I make my home in Oklahoma (where many of my books are set) with my husband and two children. My hobbies include reading, water aerobics with my mother every morning and watching OU play ball. The least domestic thing I like to do is cook.

I met my then future husband as a freshman at the University of Oklahoma (Go Sooners!!), but we didn't marry until after I received my Master's from Missouri State (Yea Bears!). My husband hero often worked overtime so I could attend RWA's National Conferences. The most romantic thing he ever did was arrange for his parents to watch our children so he could drive me to Houston, Texas for the Emily Awards.

Danni Ford is on the straight and narrow. After a lifetime of grifting with her conman dad, she’s taking her fresh start and making the most of it. She meets Eric Reynolds at the laundromat, and she falls for him quickly, Mr Head of Casino Security…

Jill Monroe pens an entertaining read, with an enjoyable secondary story with Danni’s BFF Cassie and her high school sweetheart.

A fun and feisty romance
5 stars

Danni Ford comes from a long line of con-artists and no-hopers. But she's bucking the family trend and trying to play it straight. When devilishly sexy Eric comes on the scene she finally feels like she's found someone that makes being good, oh so bad.

But Eric isn't quite as normal as he makes out and when Danni finds out she's been played, then all bets are off. And just why shouldn't she get something pleasurable out of this particular con? Her revenge will be to tie up her good for nothing boyfriend until she gets the truth from him...before he finds out all of her secrets.

This is the first book of Jill Monroe's that I've read and it definitely won't be the last. The story was fun, very fast paced, interesting and exciting. It had me hooked from the first page to the last and I couldn't wait to read more.

Danni was a great character. Feisty and strong, she had a criminal past but still retained a lot of vulnerability over whether she deserved a second chance. Eric was a typical alpha male - strong, confident and in charge - the best kind of male to watch fall head over heels in love. I enjoyed their interactions and together they made a perfect couple. Their chemistry was scorching and as such, the sex scenes were very sexy and fun.

The book also had the secondary romance of Danni's best friend, Cassie, and the man who broke her heart back in high school, Dirk. The story of how they got back together because of their sex tape that ended up on the internet, was almost as good as the main story.

All in all, this was a well-written, interesting and fun story that I would recommend to those that enjoy a good Blaze romance. I will look out for more of Jill Monroe's books in the future as this one is definitely worth 5 stars.

Once I start a book, I have to finish it. Sometimes I really hate that trait. This book was terrible from page 2. Falling in love with a guy after two weeks? Hard enough to want revenge when you find out he is lying to you? Because how well do you know him after two weeks?!?!?! Ok, that is my personal issues, but really, I did not find this to be a very good book. Extremely transparent, flat characters, whose background of criminal-but-now-reformed does not make them even the slightest bit interesting, and "oh no! The boy lied to me and used me, but for good reasons do its all ok now" story line was just insulting to all self-respecting women.

my friend, Erin, bought this for me as a Valentine's gift. I was alone this past Valentine's Day, so I guess this was her way of rubbing it in my face!

this was a different type of romance novel, in the fact that it wasn't about husky whispers amongst other things.

there was tension, anxiety, passion- and an actual story line. a pretty weak one, but it was present. I have to admit, that I was intrigued by the plot and stuck it out to the end... just to see what happened.

Good story. I really liked Danni and Eric--they were both fun, charming and their actions were an accurate reflection of the people they are. Blaze books are always sexy and admittedly a guily pleasure of mine. Could have done with or without the Cassie and Dirk subplot. Even 10yrs later, I'd be hard pressed to believe Cassie still loved him and her, given how he ended things.
