The stories are inaccurate, being an Indian I have heard all these stories from my childhood. They have changed it so much that I was discouraged to finish it.
365 Tales from Hindu Mythology is a compilation of 365 short incidents taken from Ramayana, Mahabharata and others. This book is suitable for kids because the stories are narrated on the basic level. This is definitely not sophisticated enough for adults to read. Nevertheless, 2 stars for the illustrations and compilation of various stories. I’d recommend this to those people who are unaware of any of the mythological stories.
This would have been better if they had picked just a few takes and actually fleshed them out or combined them instead of jumping all over the place with no perpos or with out a resolution to a particular tale. It was like listening to short fables with out the underlining resolution that u would get in a fable. Sad as I ushaly really like mythology tales.
Don't judge this book by its cover Not worth in content.
It is amazing how people want to cash in on the rich variety of India mythology but do not want to invest some time in researching the topic. Most of the information and stories are readily available online and in many easy to read books in multiple Indian languages and also in English. The fountains of knowledge about Indian traditions that are spread by the Aurovindo Ashram and Ramakrishna Mission in their books are available in English and provide fantastic style of storytelling for young readers. In contrast this is a n0-brainer.
The highpoints of this volume happen to be the well bound volume with fantastic glossy paper and finish which makes it a beautiful piece as a gift item.
All positivity ends there. The publishers have expended their budget in the paper and packing and left nothing for the content and the stories.
Extremely sad and there are high 4star and 5star reviews on Amazon, probably by people who have not read any of the content and have judged the book by the cover.
Wonderful book, for growing kids as well as for oldies...for refreshing those forgotten knots of Indian mythology... there are certain aspects which ave been depicted differently on which I probably do not agree, but its okay, no major flaws with the main narrative .An Interesting and educative book.
Great book! (Got the inspiration from 365 Inventions book). Loved to read it. All the stories from old Indian times has been restored in my mind. Some were dangerous for me just to read. Great tales in the book, big war between the gods and demons and some about our holy books!
