In this volume of Monkey High there was a lot of tension between Atsu, Haruna, and Macharu. Though, it was so short that I barely felt it. I like this series but in this volume I felt it lacked something. There was drama and mystery especially towards the end but I didn't feel tense about whether or not Haruna or Macharu would stay together.

Hopefully there is more build up in 5. Also I agree with a reviewer that this story relies too much on outside people to push Macharu and Haruna to do things. It was okay the first few volumes but now it's getting to be overdone.

Continues to be a really cute shouju they seems to talk things out and be there for each other consistently. But I called it. But bestie is an enemy for real. I knew it ! I don’t trust him also how can that be your friend!

Ok! so we had a love triangle subplot in this volume between Macharu, Haruna, and Macharu's best friend, Atsuyuki. It starts when Haruna and Atsuyuki begin working together and Haruna and Macharu start to spend less and less time together. I didn't mind this love triangle trope as much, mostly because it seems even though Atsu may like Haruna a little bit, he spends most of the time trying to help Haruna and Macharu make up or reconcile. We also meet Haruna's brother and we learn Haruna may have difficulty expressing herself and her emotions because of her upbringing and her father being an absentee father and politician and all. Honestly, Haruna reminds some a lot of Mai from Avatar: The Last Airbender with the whole being a child of a politician, that complex and all...

Other than studying and doing homework, these kids did not get up to much during the summer break. But I will be reading volume 5 to see what else happens.

I'm really glad I bought this series. It's really nice to read a good shojo sometimes. It's funny and light-hearted and it's really what I need during a pandemic.

Atsu is falling in love with Haruna and Macharu doesn't really understand what's going on with his best friend. The gang decide to go to the seaside and we also got to know Haruna's brother.

Jeez, I'm already halfway through the series.

Atsu needs to take a step back from Haruna. Put some distance there. He is def falling for her. Don’t do it dude! Macharu is your best friend and they’re both so close with each other and their families. Ugh.

Besides that, I really enjoyed Haruna and Macharu having that conversation about physical intimacy and their little festival date was sweet. Glad the gang wasn’t able to interrupt that one!!!!

Notes: first of all, fat jokes aren't funny, Atsu is getting on my nerves and I can't stand Haruna. Masaru is adorable as usual and their friends are okay - except for the fat jokes with one of them.

I started reading this manga a long time ago, I'm not even sure when, so I was very excited when I found out that my library system had gotten a new volume. I had checked several times, when I had just finished the previous three volumes, and the library only had the first three volumes. My brother pointed out the other week that they had the fourth volume on the shelf and I was very excited to hear it.

I couldn't remember exactly what the story was, only that I had quickly fallen in love with the style and the characters. In short, it's a book about a romance between a rather childish boy and a smart, pretty girl...two people that you might not have put together. It's not extremely serious, but there are little conflicts between friends and misunderstandings. It's a sweet manga and I really enjoyed it.

This volume deals with what Haruna and Masaru do over the summer and how the deals with some slight changes to their relationship. I spread out each chapter in this volume for as long as I could, limiting myself to one a night. (there are only 3-4 chapters, don't let the time I read it in fool you, I missed a day or two) I'd highly suggest this manga if you like a romantic comedy and a more relaxed storyline.

Words cannot explain how much I am enjoying this series. Haruna and Masaru are a fun couple to follow. But, sometimes, the realness and relatable-ness of them just gets in the way. They need to learn to be more open and accepting of one another. Stop backing off everytime things get a little intimate or hard-to-handle. Handle things together as a couple, instead of backing off to your own personal spaces to be doom-and-gloom individually. It would really help your relationship. And, for the love of all things good, please stop letting Atsu get in the way all the time.

Atsu cannot seem to figure out if he wants to continue being a brother-like friend to Masaru or steal Haruna away from him. And, alot of the time, it seems like the latter.

If you like this series, I recommend you read Strobe Edge, Say I Love You, and My Love Story!!.

This was a great volume filled with fun and entertaining scenarios. This volume also has a great scenario for the introduction of Haruno's older brother. It was a very enjoyable read overall.

It's a cute series. I disagree with Haruna and Atsu being a perfect couple if they had been the one to date like the she said in the back of the book because Haruna is just as awkward as Maccahru.

So I think the two are perfect for one another. I hope she and her brother can reconcile. I can't wait to read the next book.

The Vacation story was hilarious. And the haunted stuff is so typical that I like it even more. And then, of course, vacation and fun is over and work has to be done (mostly for Macharu), and Haruna gets a job. Lover's quarrels happen of course, but it all makes for a good story.
