How to read palms, and use what you learn in everyday life. Divination by means of examining the hands (not just the palms, despite the popular name) has been around for more than 5,000 years, yet it continues to be one of the most popular tools of prophecy, perhaps because it is so simple, requiring no equipment beyond your hands. With easy-to-follow instructions and clear illustrations, The Art of Palmistry is a perfect introduction for beginners and a source of inspiration for seasoned lovers of palmistry. 50 photographs
Great beginner's book on palmistry. It's quite introductory. I was expecting a bit more text instead of illustrations but that's just me. I wish some of the photos could've been a bit more clear because they had shadows on the palms and I couldn't see the lines because of the shadows. Overall still a good book to immerse yourself and get you acquainted with palm reading.
I was disappointed by the lack of depth. The introduction mentions that there are different ways of reading palms in Eastern and Western traditions, but never specifies which tradition is used throughout the book (my guess is a mish mash of both without regard to the cultural significance of either). It was also poorly organized. The book was broken up into sections devoted to the major lines, but within each section, it's really unclear. A page in the heart line section, for example, would have a picture of a hand and a paragraph describing the heart line. All the arrows with captions for that hand, however, would talk about other lines and features rather than illustrating and clarifying the features mentioned in the heart line paragraph. Photos were not clear enough to interpret without aid.
Not as clear as I wanted it to be. The descriptions of where certain lines are left me more confused. The descriptions of what lines mean was helpful but entertwined with the "complementary reading" on the page so it wasn't a great guide on how to piece things together. Also buying a book about reading palms and then having the readings of the book labelled "complementary" felt weird, because that is in fact what I paid for.
I've recently started delving into palmistry, and this book was recommended as a good starter book. It defines the art clearly and makes it so easy for beginners. It features many pictures and information. I would definitely recommend this guide for those looking to jump into the art of palm reading! It's so fun!
I was very excited to get into this book since it’s beautifully illustrated and seemed to be well structured and informative, but it was so disorganised and just jumped over very important explanations. Such a pity!
