Qualcuno dovrebbe spiegarmi una cosa: siamo nel XIX secolo, durante il periodo della Reggenza Inglese. Una fanciulla promessa a un uomo di vent’anni più vecchio di lei e che non ama vuole solo fare felice il padre e l’aspetto dell’amore e del buon sesso passionale non le interessa per niente. Durante la notte trascorsa a casa di amici un uomo si infila ubriaco nel suo letto e lei, invece di fuggire a gambe levate, che fa? Si alza, si spoglia e si rimette a letto. I due si strusciano un po’, poi le intenzioni del buontempone si fanno più ardite e lei vorrebbe fermarlo, ma non ce la fa. E alla fine, dopo che ha perso la verginità in questa insulsa e stupida maniera, che fa? Si stupisce per le sensazioni sublimi che lo sconosciuto le ha fatto provare e si riaddormenta! E questo in sole 33 pagine… mi sembra pura follia.

Wicked Pleasures is a hot mess of a book.

This book was a very pleasant surprise. I did not expect the depth of the story. I'm not saying it's some great work of litchrachuh, but it is a lot more than I've grown to expect from the genre. I love that the female lead has a chance to grow and experience life. I love that she has choices and takes them. I love the depth of the subplots. While I do highly recommend the story, it's not the lightest of romances (at least, compared to a number of my previous choices!). It can get a little dense at times, but I found the payoff to be worth it.

Grant Leighton was more milquetoast than I expected the hero to be, but who cares. The characters get their HEA of course.
