His family thought him dead. Returning home to confront his past, the bastard bandito, Hermano, finds a future he never dared to hope for.

Hermano is more than the bandito you met in The Bounty. He's Malcolm Ross y Zarza half-Spanish, half-Scottish bastard son of a Texas hacienda owner who has hidden in the guise of a Mexican bandito for half his life. Malcolm left home at eighteen fueled by rage at his half-brother Damasco and the abuse he received at the hands of Damasco's mother, Isabella. Hermano returns home at age thirty-five hoping to find his mother, the Scottish cook that fell under the spell of Don Alejandro Zarza. But instead he finds his childhood friend, Leigh Wynne, a widow and owner of the neighboring ranch.

Leigh is in heaven and hell. She finally has a chance to be with Malcolm, the man she's always loved, but someone is deliberately trying to destroy her ranch, and take her life in the process. Together, Leigh and Malcolm forge a bond to find out the truth behind the treachery and murder. Bullets will fly, and Malcolm and Leigh must stand and fight, for their love, their lives, and their future.

only my second beth williamson book but i didn't want it to end::this is such a lovely story about two poeple who have lost the hope of love/have noone to love::both of them have suffered rejection:: one from birth::the other when a second child came along::both have suffered at the hands of one person::a person from whom both have fled::and how after a long time apart they find each other::i love the way these stories (the malloy family series) are written::like little *snap shots* of peoples lives:: for me this story has a good plot::
with action from the ranch next door:::cattle rustling and a scheme to drive our heroine off her land::together with some of the best and i mean the best *romantic* bedroom scenes i've read in a long while::whilst these scenes are smokin' hot they are written in such a tasteful::beautiful and intimate way::that never do you think you've read a similar scene a good few times before::these scenes are slooooooow and sensuous::and meant to be savoured which of course is exactly what you do::
however in between all the action (from all quaters) there are some very sad and poigniant moments too::making this an all round story::and one that is on my keeper shelf::

i'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series::

Another great cowboy romance in this series. Really can the Malloys do anything wrong? Sigh.

Hermano gets his unconventional heroine and gets his revenge. Loved the hero, loved the heroine, loved the way the romance developed, loved the steam and loved how the author slipped in a bit more background on more of the Malloys in a really unobtrusive way.

4 stars.

3 1/2 stars. Another solid early American, western story in this series. Definitely some hot scenes with a descent storyline, probably a few wouldn't have been missed, but there still was a lot of story not just endless sex scenes. If you like plots where the heroine is in love with the hero at a very young age, he leaves to go out on his own and comes back years later to find the love his life in the young girl he left behind, this was a good one. Both the H&h have had hard lives, but they have become strong, good people. Also the Malloy's from the previous books come back to help in the big shootout in support of Leigh and Malcolm (the H&h).

Wish I had skipped this book in the series

Hermano, the outlaw from books one and two, takes on the role of main hero to Leigh's heroine in this story. He travels back home to Texas after years away, to seek his mother whom he had made no effort to contact in all that time. Tired of hiding in darkness, this Bayard son wants to step back into the light his g his real name, Malcolm Ross and to confront his father, half brother and stepmother, all of whom he hates.
Leigh is having grave problems with missing cattle on her ranch. Someone is out to ruin her and she doesn't know why. If only her old and best friend Malcolm were there to help.
I felt this book was out of sync. The Malloys do appear three quarters of the way through and it perks up from then, but I did not really like Hermano/ Malcom's character much in the first two books. I found nothing to improve his character in this story as I thought the plot was thin on the ground. Within a day of returning after 15 years all he does is have sex with Leigh. It is all padding and no substance. I nearly skipped this book in this series and I wish I had.

Malcolm Ross left years ago in a rage to get away. He left his mother and best friend behind. Now 15 years later he is back for his mother and to get revenge on his half brother and step-mother.
But he runs into Leigh instead, his best friend.
Leigh is having a hell of time. She has been struggling for two years to keep her ranch. But at every turn someone is trying to destroy her ranch and life.
When Malcolm and Leigh join together, they rejoin their bond.
Now together they will do whatever it takes to save each other and her ranch from destruction. He laid his forehead against hers."This is where I am. Home. I am finally home."
Yes,home. Together they were home.

Malcolm and Leigh's bond is stronger then ever and they are intimately more closer.
"I love you,I love you, te amo, mi corazon. I will tell you every morning and every night."
"Malcolm, I think I was born loving you. I never stopped. All those years you were gone, you were still in my heart. I will die loving you. only you."
"You have given me the greatest gift ever. My life,my family, everything. You are everything to me."

Malcolm is finally home.

The Reward was filled action, adventure, hot passionate loving, strong determined woman and a sexy hot cowboy who were looking for family and love.
It was awesome read and I can't read to the rest of the series.

eh...i dunno...the story didn't do it for me and the whole back and forth Spanish thing just got on my nerves. i was ok with it while he was sporting his persona of Hermano, but when he took back his like as Malcom, he had no business doing the whole Spanglish thing.
BUT....I will continue on because I have a feeling that a little 'ole New York au pair paired off with Ray is only gonna spell HILARIOUS and I cannot wait.

This book was a solid 3-1/2 stars for me. Action, cowboys, and a couple of steamy scenes. I have to admit that this series is growing on me... I can't wait to read Ray's book. Poor guy has been through enough.
