The BRI’s 22nd all-new edition—Uncle John’s Endlessly Engrossing Bathroom Reader—is like reading several books all rolled into one: a history book, a weird news anthology, a science text, a dictionary, a how-to manual, a sports magazine, a joke book…and the list goes on and on. Since 1987, the Bathroom Readers’ Institute has led the movement to stand up for those who sit down and read in the bathroom (and everywhere else for that matter). With more than 11 million books in print, the Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader series is the longest-running, most popular series of its kind in the world.
Where else could you learn about the lost cloud people of Peru, the world’s first detective, and the history of surfing? Uncle John rules the world of information and humor, so get ready to be thoroughly entertained. Read all about…

•Due to a birth defect, a Swedish police officer’s right leg was slightly longer than his left leg. So in 2008, he found a surgeon who agreed to shorten the right one so that his legs would be equal. But the surgery was botched: The knee joint was put back in the wrong position, and one of the screws they used to hold the joint together came loose. During a second surgery, the doctor discovered another problem with the first surgery, which required a third one. That one was slightly botched, too, requiring a fourth. Each time, the surgeon had to take a little more off of the patient’s right leg—which had been two and a half centimeters longer than the left. Now it’s five centimeters shorter than the left.

•Caller: I’m having a problem with my mouse. It’s squeaking. Tech: I’m sorry, did you say squeaking? Caller: That’s right. The faster I move it across the screen, the louder it squeaks. Tech: Are you pressing your mouse up against the screen? Caller: Well, sure! The message says, “Click here to continue."
another bathroom reader book finished and read! i think i'll always have a sort of fondness for this series.. i read this everywhere and it's like the perfect book for those moments when you just have to read for like, a few minutes.
I have read a number of books in this series and have passed them on to other family members so except for this one, which I found in a box and had not read, I am unsure which ones I have read. I began reading this one months ago and having a book you can put down and pick up again when you want to without any problem is a great plan. Who knows when you will want to read for only 10 minutes? Or 25 minutes? Or only 5 minutes? (I never waste minutes if I can help it. And yes the pun in that sentence is intended.) Full of long and short trivia of all kinds ... try it, you'll like it!
Great fun facts, trivia, pop culture, history, humour even UFO's all in one book, well nearly 30 books now! How have I not come across these books before I don't know? Not only is it great to read in the smallest room when contemplating natures call, but great for waiting rooms as well. It is a pleasure to read while imparting a little bit of knowledge at the same time. I'm glad I bought 5 different editions when I came across them.
Found this book at a library book sale. I love these books. Well-written for treasures of trivia. Even the topics you think you won't like, you find fascinating. This one is copyrighted in 2009 so it's somewhat dated, such as Louisa Adams, John Quincy Adams' wife, is the only foreign-born U.S. First Lady(born in England). All in all, these are fun reads for the curious person. I'm reading this as I'm also reading another book, depending on my mood!
I find the short, mostly informative articles in the Uncle John Bathroom Readers very compelling to read. I'm not sure how accurate some of the entries are, but that's what Google is for!
Another BR book I got for Christmas. So far, my favorite of the one's I've read. Like all the other BR books, it is nothing but anecdotes, stories, history, and random facts to keep the reader entertained. I learned a lot reading it, and it definitely passed the time, if you know what I mean ;)
This is the 22nd annual entry in the Uncle John series. Plenty of great, brief reads that are full of fun facts, stories and did you knows. No better or worse than previous versions, but it always amazes me that they find so many new articles that remain interesting and keep me turning the pages.
I was lucky to find this NEW book at Half Price Bookstore for one buck. It took me one year to finish all priceless yet interesting facts... In my bathroom. LOL!
