Mike Seaver and his family experience the trials and tribulations, pains and joys of growing up, in this novel based on five episodes of the ABC television series.
Nancy Horowitz Kleinbaum was an American writer and journalist. She is the author of the novel Dead Poets Society, which is based on the movie of the same name.
I loved watching the show Growing Pains when I was a kid. This book has five of the episodes written out. I had forgotten some of these, but remembered each one as I read them. I could picture each of the characters perfectly and could even see their facial expressions and hear their voices in my mind. It was definitely a nostalgic read.
Today is the 40th anniversary of the pilot episode of Growing Pains - ABCs answer to Family Ties. To honor this anniversary, I dusted off my old copy of this book, and read it.
Basically, it is a novelization of 4 of the episodes (but not the pilot) - Mike goes Dirt Biking, Mike Dates a Madonna Wannabe, Mike & Jason see The Boss & Mike almost cheats.
Honestly, the way Kirk Cameron is these days, I'd rather read this book, and remember when he was just one wild teen and not some wild-idea-ed religious kook.
