English title: Replacing the Evil Way

The concept is interesting, but it’s actually nothing new. I also don’t think all logics checked out (or maybe I’m the one who didn’t get it), but it’s still acceptable in general.

However, I found the story pretty lacking in terms of emotions. The romance developed way too fast, with both sides going from lukewarm reactions to love, without showing what triggered the change. This made the undying love & struggle later on a bit unbelievable, too. The side characters also feels shallow, indistinguishable from one another, and lack genuine reactions.

All in all, it’s still an okay story, but nothing to write home about.

Era hacer un libro no una obra maestra.
Estoy sin palabras, siento que mi cabeza se sobrecargó de tanta información, me encantó absolutamente TODO, como resolvían los casos, como se fueron conociendo y enamorando así no pudieran ni siquiera VERSE, la manera en la que la relación de Cheng Zesheng y He Wei floreció fue muy linda, me gustó mucho que Cheng Zesheng entendiera cuando He Wei expresó sus sentimientos tácitamente... La forma en la que se manejó todo lo de los bucles fue una LOCURA, me dejaron sin funcionar cuando se iba revelando poco a poco lo que realmente había ocurrido...

Existieron momentos tristes? SÍ, pero el hecho de que He Wei siempre persistiera y le dijera a Cheng Zesheng que lo esperara mientras lo arreglaba todo bonito cuando esté ya estaba muerto me dolió bastante pero nunca se perdió la fe, POR CIERTO He Wei celoso de su yo pasado es lo mejor.

Por otro lado, cuando Cheng Zesheng veía en sus sueños todo lo que estaba viviendo He Wei FUE TAN CONMOVEDOR y nostálgico porque literalmente se fue enamorando de una persona a la que no podía ver... Y aparte Cheng Zesheng le dijo a He Wei que no estaba solo cuando tenía pesadillas...

La manera en la que se manejó todo el final me dejó simplemente con la boca abierta, definitivamente fue el mejor final, estoy sonriendo en GRANDE.
Gracias He Wei por no olvidar salvar a Cheng Zhenqing, el realmente merecía vivir, ADEMÁS LA MANERA EN LA QUE LO SALVÓ DIOS Cheng Zhenqing ya había perdido la esperanza y pensaba que pasaría nuevamente por todas esas torturas CUANDO DE REPENTE llega He Wei, los amo tanto joder como se apoyaron el uno al otro... UNO para salvar a su amante y el otro para salvar a su hermano DIOS ESTOY MUY TRISTE, Cheng Zhenqing es un personaje al que le agarré mucho cariño y estoy muy feliz por como terminó él Y TODOS. ESTOY MUY FELIZ, ESTOY SALTANDO EN UN PIE.

AHORA entiendo un poco el trope de la amnesia... Ver a He Wei Y Cheng Zesheng enamorarse una y otra vez cuando no recordaban ningún ciclo fue tan AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH Y AL FINAL COMO CHENG ZESHENG LITERALMENTE VIO A HE WEI Y SE ENAMORÓ!!? Fue hermoso, reconfortante, conmovedor, es una locura (niño, la amnesia no es un juego)
Y NO OLVIDEMOS la partitura musical que Cheng Zesheng le dejó a He Wei la cual significa una confesión y una expectativa en la que ellos dos tendrían un final feliz JODER me puso muy triste y sentimental. 😔🩷

No puedo creer lo mucho que me enamoré de He Wei y Cheng Zesheng, es decir, entré con pocas expectativas y salí AMANDO todo. Al principio uno puede pensar que solo te encontrarías con dos líneas temporales, pero suceden varias cosas que convergen en solo una solución: decidir qué es lo mejor para ambas líneas. Y el único que puede hacer algo al respecto es He Wei.

ADEMÁS, tenía que leer a veces algunas partes dos veces para poder entender lo que pasaba, me daban ganas de escribir todo en una hoja y ordenar todos los acontecimientos para entender, Y LO BUENO ES QUE NO ME PERDÍ MUCHO CON LA HILACIÓN DE TODO, IM IN LOVE

Me enamoré de los protas, se los equipos de policía de cada uno y todos los personajes fueron un deleite, porque te puedes llegar a encariñar con ellos durante toda la novela que siento que fue lo que más enriquece este libro.

Y NI HABLAR DE LOS EXTRAS.

He Wei fue el verdadero LOVERMAN de esta novela, dejando toda su vida solo para poder volver con Cheng Sezheng, el amor más único que he visto hasta ahora en este tipo de novelas con viajes en el tiempo y mundos paralelos, un plot twist tras otro.

¿Lo recomiendo? ABSOLUTAMENTE

Replacing the Evil Way

This was incredibly written. It’s a murder mystery that takes place between two parallel worlds, and as much as it doesn’t make sense at the beginning, everything comes together very neatly. Like the title of the painting Lian Jingyuan sees at the end, the story is a circle. He Wei had unintentionally cultivated his own mystery in order to create the first encounter. The ending is connected to the beginning.

He Wei and Cheng Zecheng’s chemistry felt incomplete during the middle, but I definitely changed my mind as I got further. Their attachment was strengthened by strife, and by the end, I felt that they matched each other well. I also liked He Wei’s dynamic with Cheng Zhenqing and how even though he lost his close bond with twin by returning to his original world, he got a new brother in Cheng Zhenqing.

I advise readers to stick with the story even when it slows down because the ending makes everything worth it.

DIOOOOOOS, ESTA NOVELA DESDE YA ES LA QUE ME HIZO INCLUSO ANOTAR EN UN CUADERNO TODO LO QUE OCURRÍA PARA NO PERDERME. La línea de la historia puede verse como dos, pero no, es un sin fin de hilos, que se mezclan y convergen dentro de la historia. Muchas preguntas y cuestiones que se forman en la cabeza, sobre el caso de homicidio de dos casos en dos mundos paralelos, se van de a poco respondiendo, pero también hay veces que te confunden más. PERO, eso es lo que hace esta novela única, preciosa y que MERECE MÁS RECONOCIMIENTO DEL PÚBLICO. POR FAVOR HAGANSE UN FAVOR Y LEAN ESTA NOVELA. LA PAREJA ES TOP, LOS EQUIPOS DE POLICÍAS DE CADA MUNDO TAMBIÉN LO SON.

Así quedé 🤯 después de terminar "Replacing the Evil Way".

Si te gusta leer sobre universos paralelos o casos policiacos, ¿por qué mejor no leer los dos en uno? Esta novela combina muy bien ambos temas, que desde el primer capitulo te engancha. Y si te gusta analizar las cosas, estás en el lugar correcto.

Disfruté mucho la lectura, desde que terminé Mist (que fue hace unos meses) no había leído otra novela que me hiciera trabajar las neuronas, aunque aquí si acerté a una de las tantas teorías que tenía jajaja. Fue asombroso ver cómo las piezas encajaban, es algo que no esperaba para nada, y si lo lees, me atrevo a decir que tú tampoco te lo esperarías 🤭

No diré más, ya que quiero que tu experencia leyendo esta novela sea genuina. Y si te preguntas ¿Lo recomiendas? Claro que sí, solo agarrate bien porque vas a confundirte a medida que lees, pero es normal.

Not a DNF, but I'll put it on hold. I made it to 25% and it's not very long.

It is very interesting and the plot is intriguing but I think I'm not in the right mindset to enjoy it so I'll come back later for it. I also need working braincells to fully understand it and I'm not in the mood for it at the moment. I'll definitely finish it though because I do like it.

What if you woke up one day and discovered that you had an invisible neighbor living in your apartment—and, to make matters worse, that invisible neighbor was the victim of a case you were handling?

This novel is engaging from beginning to end. It requires careful attention to fully understand the plot, but readers need not worry, as the answers are eventually revealed.

To be honest, I had to write short summaries after every few chapters to ensure that I did not lose track of the story. Because the narrative involves time loops, taking notes was essential to avoid confusion about who was where and when. This method helped me greatly.

“Without the encounter, there would be no beginning.”

The author’s writing is clever and consistently stimulates curiosity. I could feel the suspense throughout the story, and at times I found myself laughing or smiling because of the romance. I particularly enjoyed how the author allowed readers to connect the puzzle pieces themselves without spelling everything out explicitly, which made the reading experience far more enjoyable. Initially, I doubted whether 99 chapters were enough for a parallel-world and time-loop theme, but the story is densely packed with essential details that fully immerse the reader.

That said, there were still some aspects that troubled me. For instance, when exactly did the very first time loop occur—the one that caused Hewei and Zesheng to encounter each other? And who exactly was the Hewei that appeared in the cube memories? Some minor details remain unanswered. Nevertheless, the overall puzzle is coherent, and I was ultimately satisfied, especially with the revelation that Hewei had exchanged places with another-world Hewei when they were eight years old.

At first, I doubted the authenticity of their love. However, Hewei’s words convinced me. Their relationship was not built over a mere few months; they struggled together countless times across the loops. It is only natural that feelings would develop—those feelings had already taken root deep within them.

“He finally realized that it wasn’t a natural attraction; it was because he and Cheng Zesheng had struggled countless times in the loop. Love had become a habit.”

The chemistry between Cheng Zesheng and Hewei was delightful to read. Their dynamic blends comedy, romance, and suspense seamlessly. Zesheng is shameless, jealous, and overly flirtatious, making his life feel like a comedy in itself. The period when he and Hewei lived together in the apartment was filled with hilarious moments that made me adore them as a couple. In contrast, Hewei is calm, composed, and blunt, clearly more grounded in realism than Zesheng. However, moments when Hewei became embarrassed after being teased by Zesheng were especially entertaining.

I found their early interactions to be the most appealing. Zesheng constantly “stealing” Hewei’s food was particularly amusing—Zesheng believed Hewei was his roommate, while Hewei thought he was living with a ghost. The comedy stemmed largely from Zesheng’s blunt honesty and Hewei’s straightforward seriousness; their banter was genuinely entertaining. Despite their differences, they gradually learned to respect each other. Zesheng became more obedient because Hewei was a clean freak, trying his best to be less messy. He also thoughtfully bought food for Hewei whenever he passed a food stall. Hewei, in turn, showed equal attentiveness. They are both considerate individuals who truly deserve each other.

I also greatly enjoyed Cheng Zengqing and Ling Jingyuan as characters. Although they play important roles in the plot, their antics captured my heart as well. Zengqing is humorous, reliable, and easygoing, while Jingyuan comes across as kindhearted and gentle. I genuinely loved both of them—and admittedly, I even slightly shipped Hewei with Zengqing. All characters in the novel feel purposeful; none exist merely as background figures, including those involved in cases outside the main plot. The camaraderie among the officers from both worlds feels alive and authentic, which is why I felt a sense of melancholy when Hewei returned to his original world.

I also appreciated how the novel portrays the stark contrast between Hewei and Zesheng across the two worlds. Officer Hewei is quick-witted, sharp-eyed, firm, brave, and possesses strong leadership qualities, whereas employee Hewei is timid, naive, shy, and introverted. These differing personalities lead to vastly different outcomes after the exchange, which made me pity employee Hewei; had the exchange not occurred, he might have lived a better life. In contrast, officer Hewei would likely have thrived even in his original world. The same applies to Zesheng: officer Zesheng is outgoing and easygoing, while pianist Zesheng is shy—yet both versions retain their charm.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this novel to readers who enjoy stories that require active thinking alongside a compelling romance. All characters, including the side characters, feel alive and meaningful. While the time-loop plot is not entirely perfect, it is still a very good and satisfying read.

*Toma aire* ... ¡NO TENGO PALABRAS PARA DESCRIBIR LO MUCHO QUE AMÉ ESTE LIBRO! 😭😭😭

Amé cada segundo de lectura y no quería que terminara, pero entre más leía más me encontraba absorta para descubrir el misterio del caso. Y AMÉ EL CASO. Pese a que algunas cosas las esperaba, me las presentaba de una manera QUE NO ESPERABA PARA NADA, y cada vez que veía hacia dónde se desenvolvía, me entraba una ansiedad que yo misma me sentía cómo si estuviera en la situación de He Wei.

Pero ya que hablo de los personajes, tengo que detenerme un segundo en ellos.

He Wei es mi protegido, sin duda mi personaje favorito de toda la historia. Me sentí embelesada por su inteligencia y su personalidad, GET IN LINE CHENG ZESHENG. Fue un narrador interesante por leer y en ningún momento me aburrí de leerlo, incluso si eran escenas que sentí que me alejaban del plot, me las devoré. Te amo He Wei 😭🩷

Cheng Zesheng, por otra parte, es como un perrito y cada vez que salía yo me reía bastante porque está chiquito y pndjo 😭😭😭 hay que cuidarlo 😭🩷 y eso que es muy inteligente, pero ausjaisjqis es mi bebe. Nonono y luego amo lo bonito que es con He Wei, lo ama bastante y lo protege tanto 😭.

Cheng Zhenqing JAJSJAJSJWJAJSJA LO AMO. NI QUÉ DECIR. DE LOS MEJORES PERSONAJES DEL LIBRO. Su amistad con He Wei es ADORADA, cuando Cheng Zesheng no estaba, era reconfortante tener a su hermano en su lugar.

Y luego la relación entre He Wei y Cheng Zesheng 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷 NOOOOO SOY DÉBIL POR ELLOS. ME DIERON TODOS LOS TROPES QUE AMO. AMÉ TANTO CÓMO SE EMPEZARON A ENAMORAR SIN PODER VERSE Y SÓLO CON LA COMODIDAD DEL HOGAR BASTAAAA. Y luego cómo luchan por el otro y en cada una de las vidas/timelines se enamoran del otro, diooooos 😭😭😭 les lloré tanto 😭🩷.

Y ni hablar de Stephen 😭🩷.

Desearía que más personas conocieran esta historia y fuera más popular. Tiene el balance perfecto de construcción de mundo, del plot, de misterio, de personajes, de romance y de amistad.

I'm letting down my mother by not liking this but I really, truly did not like this.

First of all, the "twisty" portions of this book are not that hard to follow. Or at least they wouldn't be if they're written well enough. I guessed the nature of the plot by like chapter 20 because I really like Doctor Who and I'm familiar with the specifics and paradoxes presented here. But it really isn't written as clearly as it could be so it comes across as weird and clunky. I'm also fan of criminology and forensic science, which is also lacking a bit in this story, as both of the leads are leaping and bounding through their deductions. Not how it works in real life by the way. Sure, I could let it go if I liked this book but I don't and I find no reason to be lax about it. And the writing is a bit boring, so is the romance, and so is the case-solving aspects. It's a scifi detective romance and in my humble opinion, it didn't do well in any of those three aspects. Not to mention the weird intersexist "plot twist" like if you're only gonna have one person in the minority, don't make them evil. For the reasons above, I got tired of this book and I waded through it just to finish it because I need closure. Now I did and I will never have to think of this book again.

Simplemente de los mejores danmei de casos policíacos y líneas de tiempo. Juntaron 2 temas que difícilmente podría complacerme y lo lograron, solo me queda una vacío emocional post-lectura. TE AMO CHENGWEI CON TODA MI VIDA (T^T)
