Buck is a strong, intelligent dog who moves from his easy life in California to the Klondike. Life is tough in the cold north of Canada and Buck has to learn many hard lessons to survive. Buck meets dangerous men - and dogs - in this difficult snowy country. He changes because he has to change. But can he really be happy there?
I really liked the Call of the wild. This book is really great because animals, and this book was talking about a dog that used to live good at the first but then his life changed, and he was living in the streets. He had to fight for food.
Buck was my favorite character in this book because he went through a lot of thing, my favorite part of the book. Was when Buck had to pull 1000 pounds or more. They were betting money if buck win his owner and him were going to won, all the money, and other people were betting him to do it to. it was a great part. In the other hand Buck saved his owner life, because his owner was in a boat and the boat got stuck so buck saved his life by swimming in the water just to save his life I think it was a great part too.
I really recommend people to read this book because is a great story and I think y’all should read it. Sometimes we don’t see that people or animals have a bad life before and in whatever time is it, like i said this book got really into when I started reading it.
The Call of the Wild is a wonderful story, which revolves around Buck (It is a strong dog) which was forced on changing its life from sunny California to cold North Canada to pull a sledge. It was a good dog, it could learn quickly about its new work which was different than in California. It faced a lot of dangerous men and dogs in its life, but by its strength was able to overcome them. Buck was faced with a good man, Thornton, who helped it when it was nearing death because of a cruel man, Hal, Who did not know the kindness on the animal. It was really a beautiful story, with love that made Buck get stronger and stronger. Buck was a royal dog, it was faithful in its love for Thornton, and it risked its life to save Thornton's life from drowning. However in the end, the situation of Buck really hurt me, Thornton died, it couldn't howl or cry only it stayed next to the river with a big pain inside it. Buck never wanted to live with men again, so Buck ran with wild brothers and howled to answer to the call of the wild. I liked this story too much; I learned from it the meaning of love and loyalty. And we should be kind to animals because they feel like us and don't let them be overworked.
I live in the city in a country near the Equator. Never been in even two inches of snow. But for television I would not have been able to visualise this story in the cold, grim and hostile land called the Yukon.
Wanting to diversify my reading I picked up this story written in 1903. I remember in primary school reading an abridged version of "White Fang" by the same author which made me cry.
This story however began as a tragedy of Buck being kidnapped but ended on a positive note of him re discovering his natural instinct. London's writing is clear and descriptive. I especially love how he described the physical change in Buck, as he grew stronger in the love and attention of John Thornton. When finally he came of age, Buck was a magnificent animal answering the call of the wild.
