Stones of Remembrance: A Rock-Hard Faith From Rock-Hard Places

Rate this book
“The rock-hard truth is that God loves you. Loves you. Loves you. Let that into your thirsty heart. Even if life is hard right now, it doesn’t diminish God’s love.”
—Dr. Lois Evans Fear of the future... sins of the past... a relationship at rock-bottom... Whatever you’re facing, you can be certain that it is nothing new to our God. In Stones of Remembrance , Dr. Lois Evans and Jane Rubietta take you back to stories of challenge and faithfulness in the lives of our Old Testament sisters. As you reflect on their experiences, the authors will show you how to gather your own stones, place them in the river before you, and cross over into the warm embrace of the fullness of God’s love.

A short devotional collection that explores the lives of several women in the Bible and modern times, how their faith was tested, how their decisions worked out and brought glory to God and what we can learn from their actions.

This is a small book packed with wisdom! It would be an amazing small group read because it isn't focused on a particular "type" of woman. Married or single, kids or no kids, it is life lessons that apply to us all and will immediately be going on my "to re-read" list!

Content notes: No language issues. Several of the women's stories include sexual trauma, known and spelled out or hinted at, but never holding them back. Some of the stories also include strong peril, including deaths around them.

I don't know how to rate this book.
If you are, as I am, reading this book because you are in a rock hard place, then you know you aren't enjoying the read. you are grasping at straws, seeking relief and peace from the pain you are in. I suspect it is too soon in my journey for me to to be able to fairly judge this. I plan to read it again, further down the road but, for now, it sits on my coffee table for no other reason than that I like the cover.

I read this with my Bible Study group. I learned so much about the women of the Bible from this book. I know there are lots of unnamed women in the Bible who had an effect on history but the ones named here show strength, resilience and courage.

Great book with video study series for ten weeks. We did this as a group study with our Women's Ministry in January and I would do it again!

This book was a combination of confirming and healing for me. I was really blessed by reading it. It was the perfect first good read of 2024.

This was a pretty good book. The first and last chapters had some great things to say. I just think it might not have been things I needed at this time of my life. But maybe women who are struggling through some tough times might find it helpful.
