This book has a lot. We get to spend time with old friends who travel through Bionicle hell interspersed with scenes of the situation on Voya Nui unraveling. Karzahni is a very interesting place and character, one that is reminiscent of the mystique of the early years. Matoro gets to rise to the occasion and outwit Karzahni, paving the path forward both for his team and his own destiny. A lot is at play in this book and it serves as a goos set-up for the coming entry.

Interweaves the various Voya-Nui plots and the Chronicler's company venturing through Karzahni's realm really really well. The Piraka constantly infighting and scheming against each other is really fun. the emergence of the Toa Inika is fittingly grandiose.

Still with the pointless, non-stop action scenes. But the moments where people are not fighting shine as the most interesting world-building we've seen since ADV10: Time Trap.

“Knock, knock,” said Tahu.
“We heard you were trying to kill each other,” said Kopaka. “We are here to offer our help in that long overdue endeavor.”

[Fun fact: the Piraka on the cover are from the prototypes, rather than the finished, released sets, which is why they look different.]

Time to pick up BIONICLE again! This is the one with BIONICLE Hell in it! That’s fun.

Again, I kind of *get* why some fans really didn’t like the Voya Nui storyline, especially with what it does to the Toa Nuva. They get their groove back on only to get beat down by Brutaka, a guy who came right the Karzanhi out of nowhere to be able to beat the heroes. Again, I’m left wondering why/how the bad guys didn’t kill the heroes when they could, other than ‘because that’d be really dark for a series aimed at children based off of a toy line’.

Also, the Turaga in Metru Nui are freaking out because they haven’t heard from the Toa Nuva and it’s been [checks notes] a few days. Get a grip guys–if you send people to another continent to grab a magic, fix-everything artifact, you shouldn’t freak out if it takes more than a week. Yeah, WE know something went wrong because we read the last book; they have no reason to think that.

The Matoran (Jaller and company) have the not-so-fun task of going on a journey to Voya Nui, which means you get to read… filler, I guess? It’s character development, I suppose, but it’s clearly meant to give us something to read as these characters get to the Plot-relevant location and become Toa. It IS interesting to find out about BIONICLE Hell (Karzanhi) and a nice bit of worldbuilding, though knowing that it doesn’t go anywhere other than a subplot in a web serial that goes… nowhere, it felt a little silly to go through this, and end it on an obvious cliffhanger.

It’s not that the book doesn’t have cool moments–it’s got some good lines, Axonn and Brutaka are given their full introductions. But it’s got nothing like the action-packed fights of the last one, or the next one.

Anyhow! The Toa Inika are here now! And now the 2006 Plot will happen for real! Hooray!

One of the best books there are in the series--oh yeah, the Piraka ones are the best. The story was really interesting unlike some of the other ones. What was with the NO LIGHT tunnel and the invisible wall that didn't let Toa through and didn't let Matoran go back? It was all pretty awesome.

This book was pretty good. I learned about a new alliance in this book. I wonder if the dark cave's walls were covered with shadow leaches.

This book is awesome I just couldn't put it down when I started reading it! The tunnel that ate light was very interesting and when the six Matoran met Karzahni it was good too.

Another interesting Bionicle tale, and the introduction of Karzahni (the real one) was an enjoyable twist, as well as the struggles of the seemingly outmatched Matoran.
