Tessa Marasdottir has just one goal. Money. And now she's found a way to get it.
Cerulean star garnets are her ticket to a better life, and she won't let anyone get in her way. Unfortunately, Daaron Von Saur'rel can't let her keep her gemstones, no matter the cost. He has people to protect, and a vision of the future that can't be stopped. Killing Tessa is the best way to protect his interests — but he can't bring himself to do it. Not when he can't stop lusting for her.
Now Tessa and Daaron find themselves locked in a battle of wills neither can afford to lose. Lives depend on them, and the only way both can win is through a marriage of convenience. It's garnets or bust.
Publisher Note: Though this book can be read as a stand-alone volume, it is part of the Saurellian Federation series.
I looked at the year at the start of this book and thought after reading the others that it must be some different year on a different planet, but actually it's a story about the beginnings of the Saurellian world and their problems with the Imperial forces. Tessa went to college with Daaron and years later he catches her mining garnets on a planet he's on. She thinks her troubles are over but actually they've just begun because he can't let her leave with the garnets or without marrying him because a wife can't testify against her husband. He's anti-Imperial, unlike his family. She's the girl from the wrong side of the tracks that didn't fall for him and she never left his mind. Good story. Sometimes with short stories I want more, this was perfect.
This was a great first book of the Saurellian Series, and the first book I have read by Joanna Wylde. I have thoroughly enjoyed this futuristic and extremely Hot romance. The story was very well written, and has left me wanting to read more. I gave 4 star rating only because it's a short story. Looking forward to the next book.
Short story that gives the reader a brief view of the first Saurellians. I wish that there'd been more than just this story. I would have enjoyed the full story of this couple, I think, from the days they first met. Not a bad one, just too brief and way too many questions left unanswered. C rating.
This is a very short, quick read, but Joanna managed to pack in a complete story. I liked the fact that the characters had a strong history. I think if they hadn't the story wouldn't have worked for me. I read for escapism, so this story fits the bill.
