Elmo (and some of his Sesame Street friends) introduce the reader to animals starting with all letters of the alphabet. I was surprised that they even found 2 that start with "X". Book ends with items that the child can "seek" throughout the book.
This is an excellent alphabet book to help introduce learning the letters of it. Children will not only be learning the letters but also learning different animals that start with those letters which leads to learning pronunciation as well. It is a well rounded book that will keep the attention not only because it has characters they are familiar with but the colors and pictures are fun to look at as well.
This is a picture book and it is intended for the readers of the nursery age group. In this book the characters from "Sesame Street" help teach the children their alphabet using a variety of animals. The print in this book is a little small, but the pictures are very colorful and most are realistic. This book would be appealing to children who enjoy watching "Sesame Street" and children who are learning their ABC's. I would use this book when teaching about the alphabet or when teaching about animals.
This book provides children with an entertaining way to make the connection between letters, sounds, and words. It does this by intoducing twenty-six animals, and each animal names begins with one of the twenty-six letters of the alphabet. The child could use this book as a tool for remembering that each letter in the animal name makes a sound and all the sounds make words. The students might also enjoy the book because they have seen the book's characters on tv.
Callie's current favourite book. I like the fact that the important letters and words are in blue (though the type is a bit small for somebody just learning her letters), and that it has lower case as well as upper case. Callie (age two) likes the fact that it's funny. She especially loves when I try to do Grover's voice.
This is an advance Alphabet book that a parent would need to read. I got it at a thrift store and it looks like it came in a series but I still liked it. At the end there is a little "go back and look for these pictures" it was fun! I would be interested in the whole set. Looks like there are flash cards and other books. www.sesameworkshop.org might be a place to start!
This is a great book to introduce the alphabet to toddlers/preschoolers. Elmo takes you on an adventure through animals whose names begin with the different letters of the alphabet. Both of my kids loved this book because they loved Sesame Street and animals. This could be used for teaching the alphabet and identifying animals.
The Sesame Street books are fun to read to young children. This books draws the children into it, and asks them to name other animals beginning with the letters. I'm looking for books to read to my young grandchildren.
I like how this story uses animals that not every other animal alphabet book uses. I think young readers would like that Elmo is taking them on their animal journey.
We've read this one quite a few times over the last few years (and three times in the last few days!). It's a fun way to practice learning the alphabet.
