It's time for Samantha's summer visit again. Both she and Val are anxious to see if they will take another magical journey through the mirror. After learning of a problem with one of the horses, Odette makes her appearance and tells the girls it's up to them to help him. What Charlie needs is something that can only be found in their magical land. It can't be given to them; they have to solve riddles and discover the answers themselves. A family of elves guides them, but even elf powers are limited when it comes to what stands between the girls and what they seek. Trolls and unicorns were everything they imagined and more, but rescuing Rapunzel from her tower was an added bonus they never saw coming.

Into the Forest and Down the Tower by Ann T. Bugg.
The story is about two friends named Samantha and Valerie. When it's summer, Samantha goes to visit Valerie, and guess what? They get to go on a magical adventure! They want to see if they can meet princesses and have a fantastic journey. But guess what again? They find out that their horse named Charlie is having a problem. To help him, they need to go into a magical world. And guess who shows up? Their Fairy Godmother! Isn't that amazing?
So, they go into this world, and guess what they see? Trolls and unicorns and elves! It's like a dream come true. The elves help them, but even elves can't do everything. There's something big in their way. Even though they see trolls and unicorns like they hoped, they end up doing something really surprising. They save Rapunzel from a tower! Can you believe that?
Now, here's the super interesting part. In the book, they talk about puzzles. And you know what? If you cover puzzles, they don't turn brown! That's so weird, right? All the other stories say they do, but not in this one. And guess what else? In the story, they don't touch Rapunzel's hair. That's a bit strange too, don't you think?
But you know what the best part is? This book teaches us something really important. It tells us that we need to be patient. Just like waiting for tea to be ready. If you're not patient, even if you wait a little bit, the tea won't taste good. So, we have to be patient and have a good attitude. That's the key to making things work out!
I loved reading "Into the Forest and Down the Tower." It was like going on a magical adventure with Samantha and Valerie. And I learned that patience and a good attitude can make things really awesome. If you like unicorns, trolls, and exciting surprises, you should totally read this book too!

In the second installment of this series, we again find Valerie and Samantha meeting up for a week of summer fun. Of course, now this fun happens to involve the magical mirror that takes the girls into a real work of fairy tails. This time the girls are tasked with helping a horse in the real world through the magical fairy world. The girls will once again meet familiar characters on the way to saving the day.
I always love this aspect of retelling some very familiar stories. This book sees our girls solving some riddles and trying to stay out of trouble, two things that Samantha and Valerie don't find particularly easy to do. It has all the fun of the first book, plus a little more to keep you intrigued. There are new characters both good and bad. We also get to see Samantha and Valerie grow some as they get a little older. It's always fun to revisit old characters in new adventures, so if you enjoyed the first book you will definitely love this one too.

This book is equally as good as the first one. Sam and Val are up to their old tricks once again. When Val's moms horse gets sick, Val and Sam are the only ones who know how to save him. They must once again travel through the mirror. There is a new and wonderful cast in this book. From the elves, to the baker and even the unicorns; all hold important clues.
Did I mention Rapunzel? The girls meet her and become fast friends. On this magical journey they solve riddles, get rescued from trolls and help Rapunzel find out where she belongs. A very entertaining journey for all ages.

All I can tell you is that I read this book to my two grand kids-they loved it-then I asked them how to star it. Oh gramps we get to star it? Yup-shore do kiddos-whadda ya think-1 is really yucky-2 is kinda like really weak soda-three is fair to middlin' four is pretty good-before I could get out five is whoopie they did-I had mind you explained five was the very best and should not be given lightly-well whoopie is what they did and hell who is gonna argue with your grandkiddlies right?

The story of Rapunzel has never had such a personal touch. What a great addition to the series. This one had everything a fairy tale should have.

I loved the first book of this series and enjoyed this one even more! Very charming and creative!
