Elmo and Ernie count animals from 1 to 10. Starting with 1 elephant, 2 tigers, 3 penguins, and so on, the animals proceed across the pages and come together in a final spread crowded with a colorful cast of creatures–with plenty of fur and feathers!
This sturdy board book with a padded cover is the perfect small size for toddlers, yet still has pages exploding with engaging text and illustrations.
Genre: Picture Book - Counting Book (free choice) Awards: none Audience: 3-5 years old A. This book is a counting book because it properly introduces children to numbers - their shapes, their order, and the quantity that each number represents. B. Color plays an important role in this book. Each of the illustrations is very colorful, which helps draw the reader in and maintains their attention. The animals and numbers are colored, which helps them stand out to the reader. C. I would use this book individually with a young child in order to teach him/her numbers and also animals. Using this one-on-one would be most effective because it would allow the child to go at his/her own pace and really become familiar with the numbers and animals. Also, since this is a board book, it would be easy for children to hold on their own which would allow them to be more involved in the learning process. D. What animal is associated with the number one? A grey elephant.
• It is a picture book more specifically it is a counting book. • I found this book in the 2-year-old classroom at my church. • The audience is towards the young children that are learning how to count. So probably 2-4 years old • The book associate’s numbers with certain amounts of animals which classifies it as a counting picture book. • There are small grey-blue circles that the characters stand on so that could use to help ground the reader’s attention to the characters instead of the mind wandering off to the all-white background. That grounding of attention helps the association between numbers and animals to solidify. • This could be used as a group to help make the association with the number to how many of a certain object is seen, so I would use it in a read aloud story time and then have the students have a sheet with different amounts of objects and have them say how many there are.
Cute little counting book. Perfect for young animal-lovers. The book features colorful pictures of many animals from an elephant to horses to dogs. A simple book that is nevertheless fun and effective for counting up to 10.
This book is perfect for the toddler age! My year and a half year old loves to read this book on repeat. Great way to teach them their counting skills!!
F is so funny. She likes to pretend that she doesn't enjoy Sesame Street ("Ugh, Sesame Street again?! I want to watch Bluey!") but every time her daddy turns it on she watches an entire episode, and she always is excited to see the characters on books or products, as evidenced by the fact that she brought this book home from her most recent library trip. It's a board book and definitely intended for someone half her age (she's 3.5) but she liked doing all of the counting herself. It's not an innovative or impressing counting book, but a good choice for kids interested in Elmo or Ernie.
This is a counting book with animals. You get to count along with Elmo and Ernie. The illustrations are fun and bright. It is a good book for toddlers because they get to see two familiar characters from sesame street help them count the animals. I think that makes the book easier to identify with for toddlers because they will recognize the characters. It is a good book to start counting skills in young children.
This book is a good way not only to introduce the numbers one through ten, but it also can be used to talk about animals. The differences and similarities between the animals can be pointed out and that could lead into the concept of how all animals and people are different for a reason.
This book is fun for toddlers to help them learn to count. It uses animals and fun illustrations that can allow them to help count along in the book. Using Sesame Street characters is a fun way to keep their attention as well as all the bright and vivid colors.
